Bill Murray has the funniest line in this movie. I'm talking about the scene where he is trying to convince Larry and MJ that he could play in the NBA. They are of course skeptical to say the least and he says to MJ. Bill: It's because I'm white isn't it? MJ: Larry's white, so what? Bill: Larry isn't white. Larry's clear. That is the funniest line in the movie. "Larry isn't white. Larry's clear."
i think the plot is the issue...the rest of the film works on a lot of aspects but the plot Is just so lazy and lazily told at times that its hard to care...like seriously the way they just don't care how mj disappears is so lazy same thing for aliens and tunes in the earth...a lot of garbage right there...
Veteran Looney Tunes director/animator Chuck Jones was highly critical of the film. In a 1998 interview, he expressed his views that the film was "terrible" and said, as a man who worked with the characters for almost thirty years, the story was deeply flawed. "I can tell you, with the utmost confidence," he said, "Porky Pig would never say 'I think I wet myself'". He also added that, were the film more true to the source material, Bugs Bunny wouldn't need anyone's help (let alone Michael Jordan's) in dealing with the Monstars, and that he would be able to do so in a 7-minute short rather than a 90-minute movie.
There was really only one good line from this film, from the boss alien, (voiced by Danny Devito,) when Bill Murray runs out, the boss alien says, "I didn't know Dan Aykroyd was in this movie!"
@Caleb Mayfield There were some group dynamic issues from what I remember..they were having fights off camera and stuff..iirc one of the issues was that Ben was leaving his room completely trashed and covered in garbage and wouldn't clean up while he was sharing the house with the group..and apparently it was REALLY bad. I think there was a video where Nate talked about it, I don't know if he took it down or not since this was awhile ago, you'd have to go digging on the video page.
This is one of the few times where i disagree with the nostalgia critic. I loved space jam so much as a kid & still do as an adult. Yeah looking back the plot's pretty weird & stupid, but it's creative.
this is back when he made videos more so for entertainment then actual points..he may believe its a bad film but he really was just having fun and overly hating on simple things emphasizing them for fun...different era...2007 was...
@@razkable Well he did show good points of why this movie is bad, well fun yes but still bad.Specially with the beastiality part,i mean they had the chance to make a new female looney tune but all the gave us is captain marvel as a rabbit, lack of personality and ridiculously broken. And as he said, they sexualized a freakin rabbit,i mean wtf????
This is actually the first Nostalgia Critic video I've ever seen. And, I have an interesting history with Space Jam. When I was 10, I really enjoyed this movie. 9 years later, I disliked it because I saw a bunch of problems with it and thought that Looney Tunes: Back In Action was a better representation of Looney Tunes. 9 years after that, after I turned my brain off, I found myself enjoying the weird spectacle of this combination of elements of Looney Tunes, NBA players and aliens. And now, it's a guilty pleasure of mine; and I'm positive it's a guilty pleasure to anyone who grew up in the 90s.
As much as I like Space Jam, he’s kinda right. It’s not exactly a good film. Its biggest problem, at least to me, is that 90% of the time, the Looney Tunes are out of character. I’ve heard this film called “The Michael Jordan Worship Hour”, and I can see why. The original Looney Tunes would never have needed his help. The only complaint I can’t get behind is the whole thing about Lola having a human chest. Lots of anthros have them. It’s meant to make them look human. Heck, in an old Looney Tunes short, Daffy had a girlfriend with duck tits. (The Beach Bully specifically)
You are right about the whole "The Looney Tunes could have done this themselves" because the man who basically wrote the book on how many of them act and would act in any given situation, Chuck Jones, hated this movie and was convinced Bugs Bunny could have solved the issue by himself without the other Toons in about 7 minutes. Karl Smallwood on Fact Fiend has a video about it which is how I learned Chuck Jones hated this movie and said "I don't know how they streached it 90 minutes"..this is the guy who condensed a like..2-3 hour long opera into the Bugs Bunny short "What's Opera Doc?" which is considered an animation masterpiece and it's 6 minutes long. Also Daffy had a girlfriend in the one where he was a spy and Porky was his boss as well and she had a human chest as well...I can't remember if this NC vid was before Howard the Duck in which he sees and coins the phrase "Duck Tits"..if it's after that I think he's just trying to avoid flashbacks.
I still own the movie on VHS and still have the collectable coin that came with it. Also after years of looking I finally found the soundtrack and then last year the single version CD with two versions of “I Believe I Can Fly”. It is still an awesome song and I love that R Kelly made it, but it is one of those cases where I am able to separate the art from the artist.
He did a later video on the new Looney Tunes show where he praises Lola Bunny because they gave her actual character and made her a solid character compared to how she started off. I think he also mentions he learned just how many Furries there actually are..or was that the one with Sally Acorn from his Sonic the Hedgehog series review..? I've seen so many of NC's vids it's hard to keep track of what he said in one or the other at this point.
You are correct on both counts. Fact is, back in those days, Doug created the Critic as a character that just wants to crap all over your childhood nostalgia, and leave it for dead in a ditch... lol. Yet in the end, it’s all satire. I’m still not sure if Nate and the Renegades still understand that, but that’s what makes his videos from then so much more funnier than his later stuff.

WB really wanted this movie to be good, so they throw in tons of money and as many top talent they can get. unfortunately, the director despite having long history working in the film industry and very talented himself, was directing for the first time. his leadership is lacking and soon everyone kinda lost respect for him and starting to do their own thing and follow their own vision for the movie rather than listening to the director. and so, the whole production turn into a shit show that WB pulled experienced film maker from other projects to act as advisers and hired 200 animation studio across the globe just to make sure the movie gets made in time. eventually everyone got their shit together but it was too late. They did what they could with the time they got left. the fact that space jam is a watchable and somewhat enjoyable movie is already a miracle to the production team members, cause the alternative is a movie so bad that it wouldn't be shown to the public ever.

First off, I apologize for a comment I made on this video a while back. Second, I feel that the appeal and following that Space Jam has just comes from nostalgia alone (no offense to anyone who likes it), and the reason I say that is because anyone I know of who DIDN'T grow up watching Space Jam said they didn't like it (Ex: Chuck Jones, Joe Dante, Doug and even me...)

Honestly, I'd say Babs from Tiny Toon Adventures made more people into furries than Lola ever did. Especially with all of her celebrity impressions like Jessica Rabbit, Joan Rivers, Dolly Parton, Madonna, Cher, etc.
@@razkable personally I enjoyed them both but for completely different reasons. Space Jam I mainly enjoy it for the fact that it's one of the few sports comedy in my eyes that is decent whereas Looney tunes back in action I enjoy it because it's more of a parody movie of the action movie spy genre. Fun fact about Back in Action, it was meant to be a sequel to space jam but the studio couldn't get Michael Jordan back so they had to lie to the animators until the studio decided to scrap the idea of the Looney tunes playing basketball again and have them be spies with Jackie Chan in what was to be called spy jam until Jackie Chan quit the project. That was when the studio decided to bring in Joe Dante, (who previously directed innerspace and both Gremlins movies for the studio) who was a big fan of the Looney tunes and was even friends with one of the late original Looney tunes directors Chuck Jones. This is the part where production problems start to happen and space jam is in the center of it... While the studio wanted to do a sequel to space jam, Dante however did not because he along with his friend the late Chuck Jones hated space jam because of how the film screwed up the personality of the characters to a point where Dante calls his film (back in action) the anti space jam which of course clearly shows in the film. Because the studio did not allow him creative freedom the production was just a complete nightmare for him and Disney animator/fellow Looney tunes fan Eric Goldberg. When the film came out it was put with some competition from movies like Elf and another film that was an obvious cash grab from another studio that also flopped at the box office and stared a certain actor as a certain icon Dr. Seuss character with red and white striped hat who had a animated tv special in the early 70s that was produced by Chuck Jones and another Looney tunes director Friz Freleng. This is probably the best example of two obvious cash grab films being put against each other and only one of them is better. Sorry if this was long comment.

@@blackdragonproductions2882 The music is good but the movie itself is not, just because a movie or game has good music doesnt mean its goos, read my response to this comment and youl undertsand.
I'm glad you stopped at this. Since the Wall "review", NC has jumped the shark.
22:59- Oh, you guys are literally asking for it. You guys need to look into the Critic's review of "A Troll in Central Park." He LOATHED that film entirely.
Nostalgia Critic did a review of Troll in Central Park, if you guys haven't reacted to that it's pretty good.
Repeat after me
When you're there, you're family
What does Hollywood do space jam 2 with lebron James wow
Considering that le bron james, unlike michael jordan,is a good actor the next one might be actually good. The only thing missing would be better writters, giving the looney tunes back their personalities and putting a funny lola rather than that beastiality pornstar.
OMG I remember that Anastasia stream.
Hey dudes, have you ever thought about reacting to nerdstalgic? I feel like you would love his vids.
You should watch nostalgia critic review spider man 1 and 2
First off, I apologize for a comment I made on this video a while back.
Even to this day the space jam website is still there
Oh my God it is!! Holy shit!!
I love how Marvin the Martian is the referee
That’s pretty fuckin neat
Okay now I really wanna know what the picture Micah showed them looks like. We must see the Kraken loose!
Critic: They actually punched kicked and harmed an innocent oldy who hasn't harmed anyone in her life
Me: *Flashbacks to her life as a World War II spy in the Looney Tunes Show*
I thought it was bad as a kid
Do you guys ever plan on reacting to Nostalgia Critic's Battlefield Earth video?
Space Jam best Basketball movie ever!
Classic review. You guys should react to norm Macdonald
React to his review of Batman & Robin
Please react to Nostalgia Critic reviews of Double Team, Hulk (2003), Green Lantern, TMNT: Coming Out of Their Shells, Alone in the Dark, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Supergirl, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Fantastic Four (2005), Masters of the Universe, and Inspector Gadget!
I love this movie because of all the marketing jokes
10:45 "MORON MOUNTAIN"
See? They understands space jam as an good movie!
I will forever believe this film‘s success led to the atrocity that was Batman & Robin
Honestly, I'd say Babs from Tiny Toon Adventures made more people into furries than Lola ever did. Especially with all of her celebrity impressions like Jessica Rabbit, Joan Rivers, Dolly Parton, Madonna, Cher, etc.
Let's not forget the prom episode from Tiny toon adventures where she, Shirley, and Fifi got dolled up.
7:40 if anyone wants to cut to the chase.
I just watched space jam the other day along with Looney tunes back in action.
which did you prefer and why?...as bad as space jam is I enjoy it more...back in action feels desperate
7:40 NC Video begins.
Nice. Next time, watch his review of Santa Paws. Its darker than it seems
I dont care what people think, I consider this movie to be awesome. XD
Guize. Will there be new NC?
I liked it. ☺

Can you react to Nostalgia Critic: Quest of Camelot? It is one of his best reviews

I’m reaching the age of 18 on the 18th of March and I grew up with this movie and just rewatched Space Jam and I still love this movie no matter what anyone says about this
Why exactly do you love it????
If you think bunny boobies are weird, check out this web show called peepoodo. The show is furry bait, especially doctor pussycat. Go check it out.
You need to react to nostalgic critics review of twister!
I mean... Malcolm is actually a furry.. with a suit & all so I Wonder if that changed Doug's perspective
Judging by his review of Rubber I’d say his perception has 100% changed, he made a sketch in that where Malcom got to point out the misconceptions of the furry community whilst Doug and Tamara played ignorant people who only see it as him wanting to fuck animals
If you wanna react to arguably, the worst review that Nostalgia Critic's ever put out, please watch his "review" of Pink Floyd's The Wall. If you wanna react to a good review, please watch Nostalgia Critic's review of Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
Yes, I agree.
Some people also hate the Scooby-Doo review but I don't know, I love it.
@@renatocfrancisco I love that review too. In fact, that was, in my opinion, one of the few, if not the only GOOD review to come out of Nostalgiaween last year
@@drakeware655 I blame TH-cam copyright policy. It's the reason why "skit review" is even a thing
@@Eccegato I more so blame Doug for making those parody songs and calling them, "A love letter to Pink Floyd's The Wall"
My childhood movie
This video feels like it was recorded in the 80s
that was the point..he was the nostalgia critic...hence the corny intro
Great peoples, great reaction!
Still really want you guys to react to his 'review' of The Wall
Damn I forgot that back in the day Doug was one step away from reaching AVGN levels of vulgarity
he really cared about the tunes and mj being from chicago.....thats why he is so passionate..he objectively can see how shit and what a sell out this was...he probably wanted it to be great and at 16 or whatever he was too old for it
Loony tunes forever!
Wait, the same Michael Jordan who owns 23XI racing?
Hey, what happened to the other guy with the glasses on renegades react.
