    I just got a small CNC and have been watching a ton of videos like this. I have to complement you on your techniques and the production quality of this video. Great way of showing the bits and the resin work in parallel to the carve. Best multicolor carve I’ve seen yet.

      Thanks Ben! I really appreciate the feedback. If your new to CNC and have any questions, let me know. What CNC did you get?

      Thanks! It’s a little Shark Piranha. You clamp in a compact router and can carve ~ 12x12, but also have passthrough in one axis. The Vcarve desktop software it came with has been decent so far. I’ve had some success with figuring out the Vcarve settings and clearing with a larger mill bit and changing to the v for detail. I haven’t done any cut through yet because the table is aluminum track and I want to make a spoilboard first ... while retaining some clamp options.
      A lot of fun so far. I’m going to try building a dust boot for it today.

    Excellent work sir. I'm sure it was tedious filling in all those small areas with different shades of colors. Thanks for sharing this. And I must say it's really cool that you offer the Vectric files free!

      It’s amazing how long it takes for a project so small. I could have filled more than one color per day but then you risk colors mixing and ruining the project. I offer my plans / Vectric files for free all the time. I’m doing this to share my projects and hopefully help others. Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment!

    Wow that is awesome... Using the silicone to make a border for the top pour was a great idea...

      Thanks! I call it a caulk dam since it stops the finish from running over the edge. Plus you save some finish by not coating the boards I’m going to cut off and throw away. Thanks for watching! Have a good one.

    Thanks for such a creative and informative video!!! Great touch by adding the links to the end mills as they were being used.

      Appreciate the kind words Tara! It makes the hard work of making the project, recording, editing, and promoting entirely worth it when I get comments like yours. I also offer the Vectric VCarve files for free if anyone wants to make the same thing. This way they don’t have to recreate the wheel or can learn from what I have already taken the time to create. Have a great one!!! 👍👍👍

    I was wondering if you had any trouble with your machine using zero and repeating itself. I have had problem with mine when i taken it off and remounted it. Just asking if you had a different way of zeroing your work?

      I made a reference point with 2 pieces of thin plywood on the x and y axis so I have a corner to reference my projects. That combined with setting my G28 or G30 presets makes alignment easier. Good luck with it!

    Nice work, did you ever took the board out of the Cnc table? I mean for the application of resin, or did you leave it there all those days so not to have alignment issues?

    • @ShorePointCreations
      @ShorePointCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I did take the board out to lay the epoxy down. I have a reference point on my waste board which allows me to position the workpiece in the same spot every time.

    Is it ok to use NFL logo's without their permission? I see people selling all sorts of sports teams stuff at craft fairs and making stuff online like this video. I always thought you had to get a license or permission because of copyright issues. Does it make a difference if it's just made for yourself and have no intention of selling it? I don't know how all that works.

    • @ShorePointCreations

      My family owns a sports memorabilia manufacturing business for the past 77 years and they have licensing for all the sports entities except MLS. My business is a subsidiary of my family business technically. However I don’t sell anything I make because I just don’t have the time. I know there are people out there selling and good for them but I have also heard of the famous cease and desist letters going to small makers. If you want to do college memorabilia check with the school. Typically they have licensing for small businesses to make and sell their logos. For example, university of Texas charges $250 per year for their licensing. It’s too expensive and the approval process is almost impossible for a small business to do an entire league. Hope that helps.

    What color pigments do you use?

    • @ShorePointCreations
      @ShorePointCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a bunch of different ones. You have to mix them to obtain the correct tones in the color to match the logo. I would mix them and compare the mixture with the official color swatches from the teams. It took a lot of trial and much error but eventually got the correct shade. It’s more than mixing white with blue to get the correct lighter shade.
