Personally if it was up to me to make up the tower system I'd keep the four basic starting points and then for the final forms I'd allow the player to pick which towers they'd like to bring, with the limit being two. So let's say I've upgraded artillery to level four, and I can pick between big bertha and Tesla. In the new system I could switch out big Bertha for battle mecha before I start the game, and so I could pick between Tesla and battle mecha, and those will be the towers I'd be able to upgrade artillery to for that level. (Of course I wouldn't be able to upgrade artillery into necromancer, because that is a different type of tower)

Some maps also possess more physical armor/magic armor than being equal, so you wouldn't use Gerald Lightseeker in a map where 70% of the enemies are physical resistance, and you wouldn't use Magnus Spellbane when the map will be full of shamen. I ended up losing a lot on Vengeance due to not using the right heroes, but when I decided to switch it up, was no problem. I know that you are a beta tester, but from the background gameplay we’ve seen the heroes don’t actually seem half as weak as a normal hero. Even Vesper, who was supposedly not good at that time frame and was buffed since, was still dealing with enemies relatively well at level 2/3, so I’m just a little confused. Another thing is that wouldn’t hero spells need to be stronger on average? Without a reliable strong spell like RoF or lightning, hero spells that don’t have some kind of AoE effect will be way worse than others unless they have lower cooldowns or what they do is done really well.
I believe it's a relative comparison to what's coming to rush us. The enemies had gotten stronger with every subsequent game (save for Vengeance), sometimes with new gimmicks, so this might be no different.
"Half as strong" is at least the developer intention, and I believe the showcased level was at the beginning of the game when it's far easier. Thanks to the difficulty curve being really good in this game, I can assure you that heroes will not be that good against the enemies unless you micro them very well.

im just specifically concerned about how the hero hotkeys will work, im used to spacebar, so if they change it to like c/v for heros respectively its gonna get hard to get used to. It does sound fun to be able to split heros between 2 chokepoints
I have a question about star upgrades: Does it work the same as 1 and Frontiers, where every star you earn and challenge completed nets you one star to spend on upgrades OR does it work like Vengeance, where completing the level with 1 life left gets the same number of soul points as 3 stars + Iron and Heroic completed? Because I much prefer the old star system over the soul points. Makes the challenges seem integral rather than tacked on and if youre struggling can help.
Having one tower leading into two level 4s, means you can adapt your strategy as the waves go on, picking one or the other. If you pick from the start 5 towers with one level4 upgrade, it means once you place, thats your strategy, no more adaptation. You choose your meta and dont change it, unless you quit the map and restart again after going into the tower menu.
I think I'm still going to get an alliance on my phone. Who cares if it will end up costing more for premium content. As long as the game is amazing, I will add it to all the rest of the ironhide games on my phone!!
Since PC and mobile versions are out at the same time, it makes sense if mobile players are given the option to buy towers and heroes in the updates, while PC players need to buy the updates as DLCs.
when i saw the title, i assumed the story would be good and evil teaming up to take down some larger threat, some sort of “chaos” or “infection” or “aliens” or something like that, thats usually how it goes
Errrm actually, it didn’t make you do that at the time of leaving this comment, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to comment without your computer or phone 🤓
the commentary alone is enough to make me want to watch the whole thing also lol voduke was nerd maxing becoming the next nerdmaximus got to say maybe recording video footage and audio separately like you just did might be more efficient because then you can have a voiceover when you edit in some memes[don't have enough of them :( ] i've seen plenty of other videos on yt that talk a lot about alliance but i didn't watch them because i don't want too many spoilers steam definitely beats mobile in a lot of ways and you could argue that having different sets of games for mobile and pc gaming is more efficent
This is so cool, I was gonna watch the next Fallout episode, but now I'm gonna watch it after. Glad heroes aren't gonna overshadow towers as much, though Id still prefer the OG tower system, maybe a hybrid system could work for Kingdom rush 6. Like branching paths but still have a chice whch to equip but the slots need to have a tower of a certain type except the 5th slot that can be any tower type.
voduke i want your opinion about the "art style" of the game is it just me or everything just feel huge and can get claustrophobic very fast. i also felt this for junkworld. i have no issue being the artstyle alone it looks good on its own i really like when it apply to kingdom rush legends however for tower defense game when everything is big it kinda change the game feel when im microing hero to clump enemies together for example.
I see what you mean. It is hard to say since I playtested on the iPad version which zooms in the game against my will. I believe the artstyle is actually better looking than Vengeance and Junkworld because it uses color very well. However, it does get cluttered from my experience (again on the zoomed-in iPad) to the point where it is hard to notice an enemy leaking.
I mean Vengeance’s tower system just gives less leeway. The one shot mechanic of the shadow archers, the stun and damage potential of the boomerang, the skeleton’s stalling and cheap costs. Choosing what you want is harsh in vengeance , and I feel it allows you to explore what you like
That is a good counterpoint to my claim that towers have more of a role this time around. For non-heroless gameplay the heroes are still less significant, but their absence is still going to be felt if you play herolessly thanks to the game being rather hard. I wouldn’t say it's impossible though.
Here's hoping the balancing is more satisfying this time around! One of my own personal biggest issues with KRV was just how like, scaled back the meta was compared to KRO and even KRF to an extent. Everything in general felt a little weaker in the towers, units and even enemies, which definitely hurts the poorly balanced aspect of the game quite a bit more I would think. Also I'm just REALLY glad the steam release will actually be reasonably close to the other releases this time LMAOOOOO No more waiting and avoiding spoilers for ages.
@@Voduke789 Hiya, man :) I've been okay!! On that whole artist journey still. Drawing junk. Keeping to myself, in a way. Honestly I'm surprised you even remembered me LMAO. Can't wait to re-manifest once KRA comes out ;)
I hope this game finally makes me finish iron and heroic challenges. i just get so burned out after the campaign that the challenges need to be really not "meh"
I was actually beginning to get rather worried about the direction of the next game. I don't like the way the vengeance tower system makes me have plan which towers to use for a stage rather than spontaneously deciding a certain tower is suitable for a certain situation, so i was bummed about them using the vengeance system. I think you worded some of my issues with the system well in the video. I don't like the way the artstyle of the kingdom rush games has developed after frontiers, and this one seemed like a combination of origins and vengeance to me. I don't like how tower abilities seem to get increasingly higher cooldowns and lower impact, reducing their contribution to the identity of the tower. I don't like not having an encyplodia. I'm not sure about heroes having higher cooldowns as i already find it difficult to keep track of them for micro, and it makes them more generic attackspitters. I am still worried about these, but you have dissuaded many of my concerns. I do see a lot of potential in having two heroes and i'm glad it seems they worked with that well. I am actually not that worried about the death of rain of fire, and think it will be interesting to see how mixing hero spells can fill the void. The heroes were one of my favorite parts of vengeance, but i agree that it's a good thing towers take the spotlight a bit more. But most importantly, it sounds like the gameplay just feels good. And coming from you, I am inclined to trust that judgement. I'm also excited to hear the tower tier list is actually coming, and will be looking forward to it!
What was all that hype by using the same engine from the first 3 games? It's vengeance again but with stars and no ROF like spell, am I missing something?
I hope the modders get to the game soon after its release. I like playing with stronger main characters. I see why they changed to focus more on the towers though. That's what the majority of the players want.
So in my own words about this entire video i did liked the hammerhold dlc and i will tell you it's worth it i mean failing over and over in it was fine but at this time i have something to say that the crystalizers are gonna be revealed this year during summer but only in July after KRA's release on the same day of it's release only 2 that are sharp crystal beings from an army called the mountaineers but it's from their blood and are very different from the regular ones however they lack all rainbow colors but some have certain pale colors some don't even have color just having same color like the crystalizers would have the light bluish color and i so far even wanted to not reveal the crystalizers yet just their mountaineer blood sharp crystal beings just probably after july 25th promise it'll happen after July 25th but i do like my works that I've worked on so far
What will Ricky AKA The War Champion shout/do now without a big hitting spell? Anyways, I was sceptical with this two heroes whole game because, for me, every stage where you get a second hero so far has been most memorable for me but if you say it's cool then it's cool. Hype mode continues!!!
I really like the gameplay of durax. so having 2 heros to micro will raise the skill ceiling and potential for dps even more. It will also help with the replay value and strategy, as people will use different hero combos and research what the best ones are for each stage. So im really looking forward to that. (or maybe there will be one busted combo that is abusable for the whole game, who knows)
Small question if i may. Do enemies come in formations like in the old games or are just boringly sprinkled out like in vangeance? It's a pretty big dealbreaker for me so I'd like to know.
This is not really related to this game but on Kingdom rush 1 using steam I can't not seem to come up with a winning strategy for the level "Night Swale" on the iron challenge using veteran mode. It is driving me nuts. Please be my hero and do a video on it.
The only thing I will say about heroes in the past that I hope gets brought back: TELEPORTATION. Asra was far and above more powerful than anyone else due to her ability to be literally anywhere instantly. Also, hoping this can trickle up to Ironhide through the beta testers: Let us have Legends! It got locked behind "apple arcade" or something like that, which led to most of the fanbase not being able to play because they either don't want a subscription for their games, or just don't have an apple device.
What is the general difficulty level? I found Origins to have the best balance of difficulty, with Vengeance being too hard for me to fully complete (before growing bored). Maybe it's the case of not being able to mix and match the different towers nearly as much, or the enemy gimmicks fitting together much better or what.
@massimohack1367 Might be due to the switching of towers meaning I couldn't get a feel for how to use each one; combined with the reduction in options in each level. Also, I don't like heroes that much.
7:15 actually you technically could in vengeance because it was unbalanced and some towers were useless. And since you said that there were clear winners and clear losers for which towers to pick in kra, im pretty concerned about the balance of the game. Hopefully they balance it well this time, and also dont wait till 5 years after the game gets released.

im just specifically concerned about how the hero hotkeys will work, im used to spacebar, so if they change it to like c/v for heros respectively its gonna get hard to get used to. It does sound fun to be able to split heros between 2 chokepoints
I'm so happy seeing this!
Your voice is so soothing
I’m happy to hear that. I developed asthma recently so I was worried that my voice would not cooperate with me while recording audio haha
@@Voduke789 wishing you a speedy recovery man!
one of my favorite things about origins was that every level was unique, so good to know this will be in alliance.
I'm just glad KR content creators have more to work with.
As a member of this extremely niche minority, I am flattered and surprised someone would even care about such a small thing haha
I think I'm still going to get an alliance on my phone. Who cares if it will end up costing more for premium content. As long as the game is amazing, I will add it to all the rest of the ironhide games on my phone!!
Same. They were made as mobile games and that’s how I’ve played the whole series. I’m so excited for Alliance though it’s killing me to wait so long
@@UutaloThey started as Flash games initially rather than mobile, but they certainly are mainly mobile games now
@Voduke789 I originally played on pc, but when other irohide games started on mobile, I switched!
i will get it on pc for mods
Since PC and mobile versions are out at the same time, it makes sense if mobile players are given the option to buy towers and heroes in the updates, while PC players need to buy the updates as DLCs.
Would rather the old tower system with 2 free and 1-3 paid final upgrades over this one, but it is what it is.
Agreed
when i saw the title, i assumed the story would be good and evil teaming up to take down some larger threat, some sort of “chaos” or “infection” or “aliens” or something like that, thats usually how it goes
With all of the information we can have for now, the game sounds extra promising and maybe even the ultimate game thus far!
"errm actually" made me dislike, uninstall chrome, sell computer and phone, and blow out my eardrums so I never have to hear that again.
Errrm actually, it didn’t make you do that at the time of leaving this comment, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to comment without your computer or phone 🤓
damn you, now you make me crave for a game theory video on kingdom rush
I’d like to ask, will there ever be an Isfet hero review? Just outta curiosity, no pressure ofc
the commentary alone is enough to make me want to watch the whole thing
also lol voduke was nerd maxing becoming the next nerdmaximus
got to say maybe recording video footage and audio separately like you just did might be more efficient because then you can have a voiceover when you edit in some memes[don't have enough of them :( ]
i've seen plenty of other videos on yt that talk a lot about alliance but i didn't watch them because i don't want too many spoilers
steam definitely beats mobile in a lot of ways and you could argue that having different sets of games for mobile and pc gaming is more efficent
You've definitely done your goal of hyping me up for the game!
Is the tree Heart glowing Orb animation still Broken?
voduke i want your opinion about the "art style" of the game is it just me or everything just feel huge and can get claustrophobic very fast. i also felt this for junkworld.
i have no issue being the artstyle alone it looks good on its own i really like when it apply to kingdom rush legends
however for tower defense game when everything is big it kinda change the game feel when im microing hero to clump enemies together for example.
I wonder where it will take place on the map
I mean Vengeance’s tower system just gives less leeway.
The one shot mechanic of the shadow archers, the stun and damage potential of the boomerang, the skeleton’s stalling and cheap costs.
Choosing what you want is harsh in vengeance , and I feel it allows you to explore what you like
This looks pretty promising, condider me hype !
Can't wait to watch your tower rank video
I dreamed last night about playing Alliance
6:30: I'm just holding out to witness whatever mechanic causes at least 1 certain tower to change its location...
Doesn't dual hero + no rain of fire make heroless impossible to play?
That is a good counterpoint to my claim that towers have more of a role this time around. For non-heroless gameplay the heroes are still less significant, but their absence is still going to be felt if you play herolessly thanks to the game being rather hard. I wouldn’t say it's impossible though.
@@Voduke789 I have an area clearance spell in KR/KRF heroless. I don't have that in KRA, which leads to me saying that it's impossible.
ok, this makes me hyped for this game
Here's hoping the balancing is more satisfying this time around! One of my own personal biggest issues with KRV was just how like, scaled back the meta was compared to KRO and even KRF to an extent. Everything in general felt a little weaker in the towers, units and even enemies, which definitely hurts the poorly balanced aspect of the game quite a bit more I would think.
Also I'm just REALLY glad the steam release will actually be reasonably close to the other releases this time LMAOOOOO
No more waiting and avoiding spoilers for ages.
So nice to hear from you again Taurmega! Hope you’re doing well. And your sentiments are echoed by many - including myself!
@@Voduke789 Hiya, man :)
I've been okay!!
I am so hyped for this game man.
Even more after this video
When does the steam release come out ?
Hope with the new duo hero system, the waves would be more difficult and engaging with way more enemies with faster speed🎉
Can you provide a hero review about isfit?
I'm also excited to hear the tower tier list is actually coming, and will be looking forward to it!
can't wait for the video ranking video
What was all that hype by using the same engine from the first 3 games? It's vengeance again but with stars and no ROF like spell, am I missing something?
See my video about what Kingdom Rush Vengeance should have done differently. There are too many faults with the engine in Vengeance to list here.
@@Voduke789 Oh, I get it know... I just was thinking if by returning to the older engine they would mean branched towers system
I hope the enemy has learned doing proper formations
You said it MML!
Schizo
@@ZenithBreeze don't say that because I ain't suffering from no schizophrenia
Congratulations 10k
So these guys who praying for Overseer is things from frontiers ending scene right?
What will Ricky AKA The War Champion shout/do now without a big hitting spell?
Anyways, I was sceptical with this two heroes whole game because, for me, every stage where you get a second hero so far has been most memorable for me but if you say it's cool then it's cool.
Hype mode continues!!!
Im just happy a new game is coming and I dont really mind changes since it gives new mechanics. Keeps things interesting.
Hi voduke
I just want to ask something, unrelated to the video though.
Is there an infinite heroes mod for Origins?
I would be glad if there is.
Hi Voduke, can you tell me where is the Dark Knight on the trailer thumbnail cover?
Necromancer is back. Nothing else matters :D
sounds awesome very exciting
Vengeance was kindof a letdown so i am hopeful to see if things have improved
Well, well, well. How's that all tower ranking video before the 25th of july coming about? 💀
The real question is... Is Alliance more fun than Vengeance in your opinion? Of course fun is subjective but what did you think?🤔
Yes!
@@Voduke789 that's all I wanted to know. I'm beyond excited! 🤩
Hm. I rely heavily on summoning soldiers under tower cover and with heroes.
Small question if i may. Do enemies come in formations like in the old games or are just boringly sprinkled out like in vangeance? It's a pretty big dealbreaker for me so I'd like to know.
Just wondering what herocombo will be op. There is going to be at least one...
Hold up, no big spell?!!? qwq
From my experience playing, I don’t even feel its absence
“I beta tested kingdom rush alliance!” Okay…?
This is not really related to this game but on Kingdom rush 1 using steam I can't not seem to come up with a winning strategy for the level "Night Swale" on the iron challenge using veteran mode. It is driving me nuts. Please be my hero and do a video on it.
Use ignus (or oni if he’s too hard and annoying use) and also get sorcerer and get elementals (about 3 of them) and one Tesla or 2.
@@Derpyisdead Ive tried multiple, multi[le iterations of everything you said. 3 elementals and two tesla towers werent up to the task.
There are plenty of guides up on TH-cam, but beating it on easier difficulties first might help
@@tamas9554 I looked at all the guides I could nothing is very recent. I have beaten it on normal difficulties….
Is alliance kingdom rush science worthy
Yes.
What is the general difficulty level? I found Origins to have the best balance of difficulty, with Vengeance being too hard for me to fully complete (before growing bored). Maybe it's the case of not being able to mix and match the different towers nearly as much, or the enemy gimmicks fitting together much better or what.
I also feel like I can't try fun stuff nearly as much, such as spamming the axethrowers in frontiers
@massimohack1367 Might be due to the switching of towers meaning I couldn't get a feel for how to use each one; combined with the reduction in options in each level.
Also, I don't like heroes that much.
“Vengeance being too hard for me too fully complete” mmhm it’s almost like IH telling to make a whole challenge video about that
Do we know the price for the steam release?
19.99 USD I believe
Does anyone know if it will be on Apple Arcade?
Is there An Endless level in Alliance..?
How did you become an ironhide beta tester? Sounds like an awesome job.
Its not a job lmao
Beta testers just play the game pretty much
7:15 actually you technically could in vengeance because it was unbalanced and some towers were useless. And since you said that there were clear winners and clear losers for which towers to pick in kra, im pretty concerned about the balance of the game. Hopefully they balance it well this time, and also dont wait till 5 years after the game gets released.
VODUKE TELL THEM TO MAKE THE WAVES MORE SPAMMY NO ONE WANNA LOOK AT ONE SLOW ASS SEMI TANK GETTING FOCUSED FOR 4 MINUTES
Wait how you got Axe throwers in classic kr?
It’s a mod
We are so back
