      The RNLI hand them over to the police as soon as they land so are not breaking any law. Maritime law means that once they are called out to a rescue, they have to try their best to rescue those people in trouble

      They cut holes in the roof of trailers, they also move vehicles when they are locked on the deck of ferries and the drivers are not there, but in this case, if you listen to the man, the vehicle had not even borded the ferry it was still in France, they had got on the truck between French and British border controls in Calais.@@andywatts8654

      Then let's just take it back, we are fighting in my village. We have burned to the ground two buildings the government tried to house migrants in. We have refused all service to the local police force, no cafes, no takeaways and they now travel 15 miles to the nearest petrol station. Some parents even went as far as not inviting the police/government families or their children to birthdays or local events. Council tax is the next thing we are withholding.

      Why its called checking your vehicle. Its not hard to secure a lorry .You put cctvs inside the loaded part of the vehicle. The driver then checks the cctv before moving off .The cctv will record anyone getting in simple

    I was a trucker/tramper for nearly 30 years. I refused to go over the water. Even to the point of being threatened with the sack. I told my boss after 15 years of loyal service it is a bad thing we part on hostile terms. He backed down, he got someone else to go to France, Italy & Switzerland. I resigned from that firm 2 weeks later.

    Never understood why haulage companies are fined for this. Border checks on the French side, Border checks on the UK side should stop this. No deterrent for the stowaways at all. The Government would be screwed as we all would be if haulage firms stopped continental transport runs.

    If I were the owner of that firm I would refuse to pay the fine, get a good team of lawyers behind me and let the authorities take me to court where I would ask the question ‘why is it that the UK border force along with the RNLI people traffickers knowingly imports hundreds of migrants each week unabated, yet I am fined for my driver being totally unaware that criminal migrants have boarded his trailer and snook into the country? The real criminals in this case along with every other case are the criminal UK government.

    It's about time the truth came out, most UK Haulers are targeted by the French and even worse, Border force who collectively fail to do their jobs. Most British Haulers have given up, I regularly travel to Northern Spain, it is now a rare sight to see a British lorry and the vast majority of lorries entering the UK are foreign and get through with no checks and no fines.

    British haulage firms have been under the government boot for decades.
    The vehicles are not designed with the security needed to meet the criteria set by the government.
    The drivers are lorry drivers, not armoured security drivers. They do not have the training nor the numbers to stop or remove people trying to sneak a lift.
