The fact city had signed a player for £1m+ nearly 10 years before a team that had won the league and European cup on numerous ocassions torpedos your argument. The fact city were not able to build anything based on this level of spending you can only blame the club for that. Stop with the bs revisionism some of us are old enough to remember!

There is a big difference between natural revenue earned from decades and decades of success to a simple phone call to the Middle East that washes away decades of failure.
From 1968-08 was City even as good as Brighton are now and in the last few years ? It can be done organically , City simply weren’t good enough to do it that way.

I'm not a City fan but I seriously admire the football they play, the investment in their youth academy, training facilities and stadium and their player/coaching staff. The City haters seem to be people who are supporters of the previous co-called 'top 4' (Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and to a lesser extent Spurs, etc.) All the other neutral fans generally love it that City have upset the apple cart. Yes, they have spent lots of money but so what? That's the only way a club can sustainably close the gap and now that they have successfully closed and surpassed the gap, you can see their net spend is actually low and their income is increasing year on year. FFP is a farcical system anyway. It was set up and supported precisely to ensure that the big teams would have a financial advantage which would be self fulfilling. It doesn't create a level playing field, it just makes it harder for the smaller clubs to close the gap.

United have been shocking with transfers , plus they are handicap by awful owners.. How does a Everton , Villa or Tottenham compete without taking major risks ? Man City’s fortunes were turned around by the back of one phone call , it shouldn’t work that way. And thankfully won’t anymore.

    • @environm3ntalist549

@@adammohamed.. the unfairness is baked into the system far beyond a club having a rich owner. How is a team without European Champions League football meant to compete with one that has? This is going to become an increasing issue given the revamp of the competition. It is the haves vs the have nots. You an also say the same between Championship clubs versus recently relegated Premier League clubs with parachute payments. There are inherent unfairness in the system which go against having open competition that are far more concerning than a club having a rich owners. In fact for many teams, having the possibility of having a rich owner maybe the only realistic way they can break in to the top.

To use the word organic suggests there was never financial investment to build those foundations but generations forget that fact. City are building something that can last decades. To an extent I applaud the rules coming in when city were taken over because it possibly moved the owners to invest more in the infrastructure of the club, not saying that wasn’t the plan in the first place but it definitely helped imo.

As a United fan, one thing you have to be jealous of is how City are ran. Multi million pounds into the women’s and youth setups. Best manager in world football, allowing him to assemble a squad of players capable of not only playing together, but capable of winning top tier trophies. We can ‘yes but it’s been done falsely’ and whatever else. But fundamentally, it’s what any club in world football, besides the cheating, would love their owners to do properly.

it's not so much the money as to why I don't respect City but rather they don't have to deal with the challenges every other club inevitably must endure b/c they don't have a world class squad. Guardiola has lost De Bruyne to injury for several months and it doesn't even matter. That's something other clubs don't have the luxury of. If a Salah, a Saka, hell even a Maddison for Spurs, get injured, it really hurts those teams. With City, it doesn't matter. So that's why I don't respect City. Because they have essentially used money where there can never be any impact from injuries.

@@environm3ntalist549 Grown through natural resources within the game, in which the growth requires fans, success, history, historical moments and players, that all result in the legacy of a club. It takes grit, ups, downs, the development in reputation of club morals, academy, work in the local community. Hiring the correct people to build the club off the pitch, then on the pitch. All working in unison. All culminate to the success of an organic club. Which all taken into consideration takes many many years of building. It’s built from the bottom up. From nothing. The economic status of the club is the result of it being built over a substantial period of time.
Manchester City success? A mass cash injection out of the shadows lol.
Building a successful business is vastly different to winning the lottery. Surely you can grasp that?

When City follow the same rules as everyone else and therefore don't gain an unfair sporting advantage, people will respect their achievements. Until then they are just cheats. Everyone is saying the same.
