What Expenses Come with Living in Japan?

Join us as we share our living expenses the first month living off base in Japan. We are a military family of 4 with a dog. Our oldest daughter has been away for school so these expenses are for 3 people and a dog. Also, note the rent is not in these expenses because we get an allowance to pay for that. How did you get the military to pay for the car storage ? And in your pet video how did you purchase the plane ticket for you dog ? And can you share how much it was ? Thank you, currently preparing for our move, and your videos have been a tremendous help.

We went through household goods to coordinate the car being put in storage. They told us who to contact in our area and we set it up with them. So the flight was a bit complicated. The military was going to put us on a commercial flight from va to Washington that had a stop where we had to switch planes and this was our dogs first time flying and we were worried that would be a lot for her especially since we still had another long flight from Washington to Japan. So we bought our own non-stop flight to Washington under the assumption it would be reimbursed only to get here and find out they won’t reimburse it 🤪 It was worth it though because our puppy did well. The flight was $1,300 and we paid $200 at the airport for our dog. I’m glad you are finding the videos helpful. If you have anymore questions let me know💕

Gas is a little over $4 a gallon but since we have small cars they are good on gas so we don’t have to spend as much.
