    great review. Any plans to review the Ozone Flux? i thought this was like a more refined Unit - keen to hear your thoughts.

      if I can get hold of a demo wing for a week or two to get about 10-15 hours riding on it. The Watersport Centre do sell Ozone gear but it seems there are no demo wings available or at least there haven't been so far. I agree it's an interesting wing and I have heard very good things about it, so I would be more than happy to put it through testing and see how it stacks up.

      I demo'd a 5m and had the same observation about it being heavier on the back end, at least compared to the V2 I have now. I could put up with that though if it lasts longer! I was planning to buy another Swing but it seems there's an issue with availability. How do you think it compares with the Unit 2024? Great review BTW

      @@robcunningham3682 yes availability is a nightmare, there are issues with factories and manufacturing as far as I understand. Regarding comparison to the Unit 2024 - if all you want is a wave wing then the Swing is exceptional at that singular task. The Unit doesn't flag as stable as the Swing but it is much better than it used to be and is a much more rounded wing in terms of freeride as well as having ok wave capability. It also depends on how married you are to soft handles as the Unit is very much a hard handled experience.

    Could you tel in practice what's the minimum wind you experienced getting up on foil with this 5.5 swing v3?
    Thanks for your great video.

      It's a while since I rode that wing but probably could get it going in around 12 knots.

    Thanks for the detailed reviews - very useful! How would you compare the Swing vs. the 2024 Unit? Obviously the Unit has the hard handles but any other noteworthy differences? Upwind, low end/grunt for take off, top speed, free-fly while on wave, maneuvers/tacks etc ...?

    • @Wing-Tips
      @Wing-Tips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Unit is a more freeride orientated wing, so it has more in common with the Strike than the Swing. ie. it tacks better, is more playful, slightly less low end than the Swing but more high end, doesn't flag as well as the Swing but it is far better behaved when flagged than the 2023 Unit. The Unit is very good upwind, so probably on par with the Swing. I think the 2024 Unit faster than the Swing as it has less of a belly to it and so cuts through the wind better. The Unit is also lighter in the hands and less physical to use. The Swing does backwind nicely which is something that is harder to control with hard handles on the Unit. The Unit does a really nice heineken gybe - better than the Swing and I would say for normal gybes they are quite similar as the Unit has always gybed a bit heavier than the F-One's until this latest Swing v3 which has brough them closer together. Obviously a hard vs soft handle debate in here as well - the Unit's handles are better for precision the Swing handles are less damaging if you have a wing to board impact.

      Would you go as far as saying the low end grunt/lift to get going is significantly better on Swing? Currently on Strike v3 but in the local conditions of heavy chop and big waves I feel like I need something that gets me up and going quicker... I assume both the Unit and Swing are better in that regard but is there still a major difference between both those 2, or will both be a huge step up from the Strike v3?

      @@strekke1986 With the 2024 Unit they took a little from the low end to make it better on the high end, not much but a little. With the Swing they added a lot to the low end over the Strike. So if I was to put them in order of best for low end grunt it would be Swing, Unit 2024, Strike V3.

    Any update on the canopy stretch of swing V3 now a few months down?

    • @Wing-Tips
      @Wing-Tips  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wasn't able to continue to use the Swing V3 for a long term test. However, one of my colleagues at the beach does run Swing V3 wings as his main wings and they appear to have held up quite well. Certainly better than the V3 Strike.

      Ok sounds like they had improved it then. Many thanks for the review

    Do you think a 5m unit and 4m swing would be a good quiver?

    • @Wing-Tips
      @Wing-Tips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These two would work ok together - they are of similar power across their sizes if you match 5m to 5m etc, so you won't get a disparity in performance by choosing different brands.

    • @nicolapescasio2316
      @nicolapescasio2316 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok...but would you choose a quiver of 5m and 4m or 5m and 3,5m? I'm 85kg and go out from 15kn up to 30kn....

    • @Wing-Tips
      @Wing-Tips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nicolapescasio2316 that is a tough one - generally it's not the best idea to do 1.5m jumps in small wing sizes. For example 5m to 6.5m works fine - 3.5m to 5m is quite a large difference and you may find yourself in a situation where it is over powered for a 5m and under powered for a 3.5m. If you did plan to do this I probably wouldn't pick the Unit or Swing but would instead use something like a Strike v3 or Ozone Flux which have a better capability to run over powered.
