Killer video! This should be the gold standard for equipment reviews. You take into consideration all aspects and are honest and upfront that everyone has different needs and preferences, and one thing isnt simply the best. And you took the time to do a long term review. That is invaluable because using a kitchen tool for a week wont tell you or us the audience if its durable enough to even last a month.
Thank you for the time and effort. I will definitely be referencing this when I decide to get into smoking more.

Another couple things to consider, like I had to recently, regarding practicality:
    - How reliable/available is your power? These require a power source, so do you have an outdoor outlet near by or will you need to run an extension cable? Does your power have a tendency to go out during storms? The oven/stove might not be working, but neither is your grill.
    - What's your area set up like? Will it allow for enough airflow to keep smoke from lingering/building up? Are you in a townhouse where the smoke will waft into your neighbors area to an offensive level?

Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.

I appreciate how thoughtful you were in putting this together. You made an effort to highlight what factors are actually important in choosing a grill (or whether you should even get one), instead of bombarding viewers with trivial stats that you'd see in Amazon comparison tables. As a previous Traeger+ user, switching to Asmoke has been an absolute game changer for me. The level of temperature control Asmoke offers is unparalleled. The FlameTech patent with dual sensors and a new PID algorithm means I can maintain temperature within 5°F, giving me precision like never before. Plus, the pellets come in a variety of flavors, which has really upped my grilling game by adding a distinctive smoky taste to my food. But what truly stands out is the convenience of Asmoke. It's lighter, smaller, and portable, making it perfect for all my outings. I've taken it camping, tailgating, and even on road trips! The battery-powered feature with up to 10 hours runtime is a lifesaver, enabling me to grill anywhere, anytime. Can't forget about the app, which allows me to remotely adjust temperature and monitor food. Highly recommend Asmoke to all grill enthusiasts! #Asmoke

Great guide! Short, sweet and covers the absolute essentials as always! One thing I'd add is if you want the option to grill WITHOUT smoking, look carefully. Depending on your space/needs/budget, you can also consider a vertical pellet smoker in conjunction with horizontal grill model, or a charcoal grill/offset smoker. But again, your actual space/needs/budget plus the other tips here are crucial to avoid wasting time and money.
I'd personally recommend the brands Chargriller and Pitboss (pending location) as decent budget brands. Not the only ones out there, plenty I don't know about or have access to here in Aus at least but it's a start for those curious.

Big Chief electric smoker. Cheap at $125, easy, plenty of capacity. I just cut up a few ounces of twigs from my plum tree and pop them in the pan rather than buy pellets. A bit of pam sprayed on the steel grills, load up with a few pounds of jerky (beef or salmon usually) marinated for at least 24 hours (usually teriyaki) and plug it in for 8-12 hours. Pull it when everything is dry.

The precise temperature control of Asmoke, thanks to its FlameTech patent and dual sensors, offers a cooking experience that Qstoves+ simply couldn't match. The convenience of being able to monitor and adjust the temperature remotely through the app is a huge advantage, especially during social gatherings. The variety of flavors offered by the wood pellets is a delightful addition to the overall grilling experience. What's more, it's lighter and smaller than Qstoves+, making it easier to carry around for camping or tailgating. The battery power option is a huge plus, offering up to 10 hours of runtime. It's not just a grill, it's a revolution in outdoor cooking. #Asmoke.

Love the review especially when we got to "This Guy". You may want to look at the Lone Star Grillz Pellet Smoker. It runs like and off-set, but has the capability to Grill and use Charcoal with added accessories. It's only a few 100 more than the Yoder too.

thank you for not being another in the growing line of alton brown knockoffs on youtube...several well-known food dudes on youtube have ripped off his intonation and cadence as if that's the only way you can speak about cooking if you're going to be scienc-y about it and i can't stand listening to them

I have no interest of this gear nor the intention of buying it but enjoyed the video nonetheless. The metaphor you used really wraps up the video neatly! Thanks again for the video!

I just use a good ole Weber Grill/smoker. Super simple but requires some technique. It's a great lil tailgater too. A pallet smoker is on my list for sometime in the future.

The only oven I can use in the AZ summers is a toaster oven... Everything else goes on the stovetop.
Also, Shaq: Have you ever looked into sun ovens? They concentrate sunlight with mirrors to cook food. It's kind of a gimmick but might be fun to play around with.

Also if you really want to make bbq but even the cheap end pellets are kinda out of your price range, look for a used barrel smoker. I was lucky enough to get a hand me down Weber smokey mountain from my wife's grandma and it works really well. every part of the smoker can be taken out individually so moving it around and cleaning each piece it's a lot easier than most smart grills. Same with replacement parts. Granted, it will not be as easy to maintain a steady cook overnight but my tip to you then would be to just let it cook in the smoker until you reached your desired "smokeyness" and then just pop it in the oven for the rest of the cook. Also, this is just something I've heard and haven't tested myself, but they say pellets just don't provide as much smoke flavor as offsets or barrels.

If I ever got a pellet grill that was NOT an "RT-590" my grillin' coworker would murder me. I mean, the name doesn't roll off the tongue... yet I know it. That should say something about how often he praises it.

the 340 is the perfect size for a smaller family. honestly, even when I have a lot of people over, I never run out of grill space for my needs.
