Hi Red Giant! I love all of you guys, and been subscribed to "Universe" for many months. When i'll be capable financially, will definitely buy VFX Suite. One quick note/Improvement idea regarding bend tool also. What if you've been able to control the width of your shadow on the various control points (like the stroke width tool in AI). Imagine shot: Dark scene, your actor walking from left to right, and your main light source is on the wall. Ideally the shadow will be distorted depending on the light height + distance from your character + a wall (in short: co-relation of all elements). Just this and i love you anyway!
Is there a way to anchor the shadow to the x axis? It works great for static, but I have an upwards arm movement where I need the shadow to stay pinned on a desktop. At the moment the shadow rises upwards with the arm.
What I'm missing is the typical behavior of a shadow softness. At the start it's not really soft and gets softer and softer over the length of the shadow itself. So if im standing the shadow directly at my feet will have a light sharp edge and the shadow of my head which is few meters away will me even softer. Seems like this isnt covered with this plugin unfortunately
Would be awesome if the plugin has a feature to bezier the 2 left-right axis points. Because I have a shot with 3 people in the same room, they walk towards each other, but they are not leveled in the scene, so when I apply RGSHADOW its impossible to place the shadow right as the 2 axis points are in a straight line, so one of the people in the scene ends up with the shadow away from his feet. But if I could curve the 2 axis points with a bezier I could bend the shadow baseline to touch (let's say) the middle person in the shot.
@@Martholio Thanks for your answer :D. That is true if for example youre applying the RG Shadow to a Green Screen layer. However how do you do it if, for instance, you want your Shadow to be synced to a Element 3D object that moves in 3D space?
Is there a way to keep the shadow edge sharp where the point of contact originates (like at Nancy's feet), and then progressively softens to mimic light bending where the shadow appears farther from the subject? Can this be used in conjunction with Supercomp? Does Supercomp have a shadow feature? Seems like an important feature that would be best built into Supercomp.
hey , how can make side shadows? if the person facing toward camera and the light source in on either side left or right how to make that shadow with this plugin?? please help
If you need the shadow points to move, they can be animated. How you animate them is going to depend on the shot. You may need to use Spot Clone Tracker in Tracker Only mode to get moving source points the way you want them.
The bend function just sets this apart from all the other shadow plugins out there!! Perfect tool!
This is what aftereffects was missing thanks man you guys are booming

Nice tool. Next upgrade with circle bend (for rounded surfaces)?
any tutorials on how to get this to work with 3d tracked shots please?
Thank you for the suggestion. In case nobody makes a tutorial for this soon, look into using the toComp expression.

Has anyone had an issue with the axis starting way off frame? I can't seem to figure it out.
How do I add Shadow to a camera tracked 3d scene?

How can I track these shadows with 3D Camera Tracker ? and keep it attached with my object...!!
You can place nulls and use toComp expressions to tie the shadow control points to them.

Amazing plugin.
What if your source image is moving, walking, for example? How do you parent or keyframe your shadow so it moves perfectly sync with the source image?
Shadow inherently tracks with the layer it's applied to. So as the subject moves, so does the shadow. :)

Very nice! I wish this was available for Premiere Pro.
Thanks for this! It is posible to render only the shadow?
is there a way to add more bends to the shadow? Or use a normal map or depth map to distort it?
There is the one main bend option. If you need more, you can use a layer to drive displacement.

very helpful tool

why are my layer controls so off set from where they should be? anyone know?
what if its a 3d layer ? how to accomplish ?
In can't understand why VFX SHADOW / REFLECTION don't have 3D positions. Like 95% of the time I would use these it would be within a 3D scene.
That's why you've got to make the shadow yourself.
@@brightgarinson3099 what do you mean?
@@MiikaWasHere Don't buy the product, make the shadow yourself for free.
Exactly this...
Bright Garinson I think Supercomp is the beef in VFX suite. It's not perfect, but its getting better I think.

My shadow isn't following subject. How can I fix it?

@MaxonRedgiant Thanks for reply❤️
how to have shadow alone like disabling the source image
Under Shadow Blend, tick Shadow Only.
very useful!!.. question? do red giant removed Knoll Light Factory for photoshop??if so WHY????? hahaha
cheers!
this tool cannot match the feet angle if the shadow in front of a man standing on the ground.
At 2:22 in the video, he demonstrates matching feet on the ground.
It dons´t look right because you placed the shadow on the wrong side oft the model on the wall :D
How about telling people that you need to roto or have a separate layer for the object you're shadowing??
If i have a cutout how do i add shadows with super comp
Can you go into a bit more detail on the issue you're having?
