    I have been looking at foiling machines for some time now but have not succumbed to any on the market at present. Mainly due to resulting over-foiling that you can get, which would inevitably slow down production. Particularly if you were wanting to make cards for a wedding for instance. But Spellbinders Hot Foil machine would be great for one-off cards. Love what you did today. Thank you Vicky. x

    Happy New Year. What a beautiful card. I have not invested in a foiling machine because, as others have mentioned, wanting to avoid the expense of purchasing foiling dies. I have a lot of foil, toner sheets and a laminator. Watching your video raises other thoughts. Have you ever tried hot foiling using a hot household clothing iron. I wonder how that would turn. I'd love to hear your thoughts and response on it. Thanks so much Vicky. Most appreciated.

    Vicki. Thank you for sharing this video I found it most helpful and your card was gorgeous. Could you do more video’s using regular die’s? Does the hot foiling hurt the regular dies at all? Happy New Year.🎊🎈🎆❤️

    • @vickyp
      @vickyp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      oh no the dies are not hurt at all, the pressure is less that when you die cut and the heat is not that bad to affect that metal

  • @elliebeserra4547
    @elliebeserra4547 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for demonstrating that, I think it's a great idea to make short tutorial videos, we learn allot! I still don't have a glimmer machine...lol. However there are many foils out there, this one must be the kind that reacts with heat, now would this also work with foils that works only with pressure or with the adhesive ones? I still don't understand how it didn't cut through when you passed through the machine.

    • @vickyp
      @vickyp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh it’s not that thick … so the pressure is way less than what it takes to cut the paper. For other foils you need yo test things out… everything works with the correct plate sandwich I

    Thank you so much for this video because I was wondering if you could somehow use regular dies and what the result would be. The foiling dies mean extra cost. I was also wondering if you could use a Big Shot with a Glimmer Foiling machine?

  • @suebouch4074
    @suebouch4074 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Vicky! Thanks for sharing this technique for another way to use the Glimmer machine. I've been on the fence about it mostly because I didn't want to buy a whole bunch of dies to be able to use it. Question: do you still need to use the special foil as opposed to regular DecoFoil? Thanks again and have a great day! 🙂

    • @vickyp
      @vickyp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @Baacutes
    @Baacutes ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice card! When using thin cutting dies, how come it doesn't cut through the card?

    • @vickyp
      @vickyp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The “sandwich” with the plates is different than when we cut, it is not as thick…. So the pressure of the machine isn’t enough for the die blades to go all the way through the paper

  • @grandepuce8
    @grandepuce8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wait - I'm confused. When you run the hot foil platform and hot die through your die cutting machine, wouldn't the die cut through the foil and damage the hot foil platform down below or hot foil plates depending on which direction the cutting dies are facing?? I must be missing something cause I'm totally confused by this technique. I clearly see that the process works based on your pretty card - I must be the only one confused since no on else is asking this question. 🤔

    • @grandepuce8
      @grandepuce8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bummer - I haven't gotten a response to my question. Am I really the only one confused by this technique? I've watched this video several times and I just don't understand how the die isn't cutting through the foil or cutting plates. I know Vicky is a very busy so just wondering if anyone else might have answers.

    • @pattibaileydesigns
      @pattibaileydesigns ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grandepuce8 You are not the only one with that question - although I'm asking the same thing a year later because I just saw this video. I'm trying to figure out how the die doesn't cut into the paper either. Hoping Vicki sees this and responds.

  • @ruth6511

    I just broke down and got a foiling machine..not yet used though. May be a silly question, but if you can use regular dies, then why would one buy/need hot foil plates in the first place if you have a cutting die? Confusing, as I have bought both in product suites and it is quite a lot cost wise. Thanks for the clarification!!!!

    • @vickyp
