The most beautiful city in Botswana! Francistown, A drive through.

  • This city is beautiful despite the fact that it's the second largest. The planning follows a European style where the cbd area is divided into a grid by roads running through it. One other fun fact is that most of these roads are one way!

    • @edwinderick72
      @edwinderick72  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      House rent is affordable. It depends on the neighborhood you wish to stay, generally not too bad. Its around P300 a day in lodges and a P1000+ in hotels. If you get a Batchelor pad its around P2000 a month. A 2 beds would set you off from P3000 to P7000 depending on the neighborhood and the kind of house. A family home is from P4000 and up to P12000+. With apartments and family homes, they dont come with furniture si you bring your own.

    Nothing against Ghana. I understand it was a hub when Europeans were stealing Africans and taking them to other continents, and people have a lot of ancestors from Ghana, but I'm so surprised Botswana isn't a bigger part of the diasporan conversation. I still have a big love in my heart for ❤Botswana ❤, that I can't explain even though I've never been to any African country, YET.

    • @kyrianuwandu1162

      What kind of stupid talk is this? Botswana is in Southern Africa and therefore does not have historical ties to the descendants of slavery like Ghana and other Countries in West and Central Africa. Part of the draw for African diaspora to Ghana is the connection through slavery and history, but nothing stops you from migrating to any Country on the African Continent. Many black Americans live in other African Countries other than Ghana. Ghana and Sierra Leone so far are the only Countries offering diaspora black people easiest access to Citizenship.

      @@kyrianuwandu1162 What kind of stupid reply is this? I know where Botswana is. I was inferring why don't more diasporans look at Botswana as a place to live? Ask if you don't understand, instead making assumptions. If this is how you respond to those of us in the diaspora face-to-face, you are going to get yourself hurt or worse. I'd like to see a video of you calling an AA stupid to his face.

      @@kyrianuwandu1162 There are no diasporan wars. It's Africans on the continent being rude as hell to diasporans who are inserting money into the economy & believing in the Year of Return.

      Botswana as in most Southern and east african countries, was europeonised as they had no intention of leaving... I love the idea of walking down a street and getting something I like rather than having to go into a store with suspicious eyes following me around. It's Africa not Europe where it gets cold for 6 months of year. In summer people there open up street shops.

    • @qoboningiza9851
      @qoboningiza9851 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@wilcoxdaniel9825 not true, Botswana was never Europeanized. It was not a protectorate, not a colony. No one was interested in it cause it had no natural resources at the time and is largely arid and a desert, so they saw it as hopeless. Batswana developed their country from the ground, no different from Ethiopians

    • @edwinderick72
      @edwinderick72  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, Botswana was colonized by the British in the late 19th century. In the 1880s, the British government established a protectorate over Bechuanaland in order to prevent it from being colonized by other European powers. The protectorate was later extended to include what is now Botswana. In 1966, Botswana gained independence from Britain and has since become a stable democracy with a growing economy.
