its because the gems duplicate depending on how many things are in the level thats why you see him pick up the mice and kill them so he gets extra money
Dupe glitch. The less "noise" there is in a level (items) and the more stacked the diamonds and gold are, the more you pick up. It basically gets duplicated, same strat when he uses a hired hand to pick up the stack at the same time he touches it himself, chances to dupe some treasure.
You don't know if it's a viable run until you get beyond the first level. Countless resets are required to get a viable run. 1-1 is rushed so you don't end up wasting your time just to reset. Gold lost by rushing 1-1 is unlikely to effect the probability of getting a record.
Couldn’t he have made a bunch more money by destroying kali alters so that the ghost spawns at the start of every level? That way he could have ghosted Olmec and yama
@@jessveness actually due to odds it probably isn't possible. The whole wheel stops once you get three prizes (at least in this game, I've seen like 7 in spelunky 2) so it'd be even more unreliable than these runs
When you whip piles of 3 gold bars, they turn into 3 individual gold bars. There's also a bug where if you whip the stack and pick it up at the same time, you pick up the stack AND the three individual bars, essentially doubling gold gains.
The sad thing is you probably could have got WR if you'd just collected the money on 1-1, but of course that's not really viable if you're farming score at this level

@brodino_maiuscolo, I looked it up. It is a duplication glitch. By removing all possible things in the level and putting as many diamonds in the same place to the pixel you can get significantly more money. It allowed the WR score to roughly double.

plus the gems have to be very close to together for this to work and he also blown up pots which also doubles the money in the pot when broken
