Hi! no they didn’t come like that, they are lambskin and that’s what happens to lambskin overtime even more depending on the care, I have seen worse 😢yours is actually nice vintage . Personally, I don’t like vintage lambskin flat quilts (a few I have seen that I would go by) but I do appreciate many other pieces 😊. As per the hardware, classic colors like the black and beige Claire are bright GHW, it’s because they are “classic” not seasonal colors, that’s why your caramel comes with LGHW as it was a seasonal color and that’s when they use different types of hardware. Not ALL vintage bags are great, trust me I have been a client from a long time over :). You also need to understand that all leathers are different season by season that’s why you sometimes see CFs with softer or harder feel leathers, more grainier or less grainier caviar leather etc.
All my Chanels are modern and store/reseller bought in new condition. I like to be the one to put wear on it. I like it to be mine and passed on to future generations and stay in the family. For me personally, I don't see the value of buying a vintage Chanel since you didn't put the wear on it. You don't have any history with the bag. So you're basically paying astronomical prices (yes, even $3000) for someone else's used bag that is deflated, old and doesn't even look great. Basically, you are paying just for the brand name. For that amount of money, I'd rather just buy another brand's brand new bag. Where I live, people don't know Chanel so I'm bound to get looks wearing an old used up bag with a well put together outfit.
I’ve been collecting vintage Chanel for 30yrs. My first Chanel was bought in store in 1994. Vintage definitely Rock❣️
I much prefer the look of vintage Chanel bags (as long as they are not excessively damaged of course) and yours / your mom’s is gorgeous!
Thank you!! I love the look of vintage bags too! 🫶🏻

Sorry but the vintage doesn't look appealing to me at all. Look old musty with odor sweat all over. Love your caramel one ❤
