I plan to buy a Mustang next year, but man do Challengers look oh so beautiful! I hope they never change the look of the Challenger by any drastic means! The look of those cars is absolutely timeless and borderline perfect in my eyes.
Since I do most of my driving in the highway, I’d have to go with the Challenger. I really like the idea of a comfortable muscle car that feels like a boat.
Mopar for me. It’s exhaust tone is the best. Love the big trunk. Love it’s large back seat too. Overall the Dodge gives better visibility and you don’t feel like you are sitting in a cave.
Skeeter Man dude I own a challenger, the visibility is horrible. Absolutely love the car and wouldn’t trade anything for it, but the visibility is not one of its strengths.
those hemi engines are an excellent made in mexico product from the legendary Saltillo Engine Plant. they make the eagle, hellcat, demon, apache hemi engines. legendary Mexican horsepower.
Challenger, it is huge, heavy, and powerful aka. It is the only true American muscle car anymore Also I think the challenger is has much more old style, which I love Also the demon isn't that expensive, for the performance that is. 86k USD
I would’ve loved to see this video with the camaro, I’m really considering all 3 for various reasons. I’m not too sure I like the rear end of the Challenger, so I’ve been considering the mustang, but overall I think the look of the camaro is the nicest. However, the challenger seems to have the nicest interior and driver experience. Challenger also has much more room, but is obviously the slower vehicle.
As much as I absolutely love Mustang, as a family guy, I think I would pick Challenger. I think it is more of a practical everyday car than the Mustang. The rear seats in Mustang are horrible, to say the least. I would say Mustang is more sporty, lighter and great for a person who doesnt care about rear seat, like my best friend who doesn't have kids. Challenger is more practical and comfortable for everyday use. Looks are very subjective but I do agree that its about time challanger should upgrade their styling a bit. Both are great cars and one couldn't go wrong with either of the cars.
Challenger V8 for me, always... The 392 is still competitive on the street and the dragstrip, and best sweet spot in the lineup. As you said, depends on what you want in a driving experience. My 2021 Challenger Scat handles excellent, for a Muscle Car...lol
I really like the GT AWD Challenger. A V6, but great weight distribution and AWD. I’d say mustang, but the challenger is more practical in this class. (Trunk and rear passenger room.) Either way, go Motor City.
@@moparsofniagara34 its not slower. The challengers r so heavy. The guy even says if u want the performance from a mustang but for the challenger u have to pay alot more. Bc u need to get the bigger engine just to keep up with a 5.0. Its stupid to the challenger for the cost to power
As it has been pointed out many times, the Mustang competes more directly with the Camaro. The Challenger should really be in a different class, with its greater comfort and much more useful rear seat and trunk. The Mustang and (especially) Camaro, while also being relatively large, are basically 2-seaters.
For pure performance, mustang and camaro beat pants off Challenger. But for practicality - ie you have friends, or you go shopping, or you have a family, Challenger smokes those two hands down, while still giving very good performance even from the lowest models... The back seats are damn near sedan quality. Its actually unfair to compaire because they really are different philosophies. And IMO purely subjective, but I love the retro-look on the dash and controls, and the body is much better looking on the Challenger...
Challenger scatpack widebody. Plenty of power, better handling, and enough tire to put that power down. Not to mention easier on the wallet than a hellcat.
I have a Charger Hellcat and love the Dodge beasts so I would pick the Challenger. If I had an SUV and/or large car already and wanted a second weekend and run around car, I would opt for the Mustang with its better and lighter handling.
Hey Alex, did you mention which model holds better resale value? I know it has nothing to do with performance and size of the vehicles but it could be a deciding factor for some buyers.
In general, Challenger and Mustang resale value tanks quickly, and dollar-for-dollar on MSRP the two models depreciate about the same percentage. Why? Because base models of both are high-volume rental fleet favorites and budget payment choices at Dodge and Ford dealerships, and often have big rebates. Even low-option (cloth seats, etc) V8 Challengers and Mustangs sell in huge numbers. Long story short, the roads and used car lots are FILLED with Mustangs and Challengers. The GT350 and Hellcat variants hold resale better, but part of that is because dealers were/are often charging many thousands above MSRP, and of course they're limited production models. Resale does get a lot more difficult to predict with the Challenger compared to the Mustang just because of the huge range of model packages. For 2018, there's FIFTEEN different models of Challenger differentiated by the window sticker, and a fairly wide range of options and option packages for of each of those distinct models.
It's important to keep in mind that you can easily get a supercharger from several good brands or even a twin turbo for the mustang, bringing it up into the 700hp range. It's def a hard decision.
I’ve own a challenger before but had to get rid of it wasnt sure if I wanted another one or a mustang and just watching your video made me wonder why I even considered mustang heart videos !
I like the mustang however as a 45 year old man. I love the dodge however I went to look at best value for was the TA 392 model. When I went to dealer it list 45,000 however with discount and rebate I could have it for only$36,000 fully loaded. But than I spoke to my insurance company so I leased 2018 Nissan Murano SL. That the problem with these cars. First no lease program even if good resale value and two the 𝕀𝕟𝕤𝕦𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖 will be triple average car. As a big man I love the Dodge
the only thing camaro and mustang has over the challenger is weight . challenger beats camaro and mustang in many places. for example back seat space. lets not mention engine hp .
If I didn't love Mustangs so much I would buy a Challenger. It's a beautiful car, but it in a different way. Also I would have to get the Hellcat which would cost me more than I want to pay.
The one I would chose does not exist... A SRT392 Charger AWD. Darn shame. Also Alex you should mention that not only the Challenger is significantly more thirsty but it also does not drink regular gas like the Mustang GT does.
For normal every day driving my pick would be the 5.7 in the Challenger. Its quick but not stupid fast so less chance of getting in trouble. You can put your foot down at the on ramps a little longer to listen to that Hemi. You get that wonderful V8 burble and usable space inside. Plus it's not a canyon carver by any means but it's certainly not a slouch.
@13:08 You did not have the adaptive suspension (MagneRide) on your tester because it requires the Performance Pack which is lacking on your Mustang GT Black Appearance Package.
The mustang is a pony car with a modern dohc v8 engine. The challenger is a throwback 60’s era muscle car with an antique pushrod v8 with a supercharger bolted on to make power.
This was very informative, as always. Thank you, Alex! I'm a devoted Mustang man, but have toyed with buying a Challenger for a couple of years now. I do a lot of state-to-state highway driving, as well as sit in Dallas rush hour traffic daily, and keep cars up to the 100K mile odometer range, and the long range reliability factor is the only thing that has kept me from pulling the trigger on the Challenger. Your reviews are the most informative and helpful of any out there. You are making a difference, sir. Again, thank you!
Challenger! Nothing has the same badass beastly appearance. It has a unique road presence. Mustangs are too soft and sleek and are far less practical. Buy a mustang to impress high school girls. Buy a challenger to impress women.
I'd love a red-eye but it is way out of my price range. I will therefore settle for a scatpack shaker hood challenger with a 392 HEMI. Awesome ride and very cool looking and I can actually fit normal sized people in the backseat! :)
This would've been perfect if the camaro was there. Each of the 3 has somthing that makes them special. Camaro : the coolest looking of the 3. Mustang : the special edition models Challenger : the most badass of the 3.
Jordan Catcher I'd still pick the other 2 ahead of the Camaro personally. I will admit the pre-refresh was a lot better looking though. IMO Chevy needs a new style in general. The new Silverado isn't bad and the current design language looks good on the Impala. The rest of the lineup isn't great though.
MLosUno Really ? I think Chevy's lineup looks fine expect for the Silverado , blazer , and refreshed camaro they look overstyled to me. Chevy seems to be following the big grill trend that other automakers have been doing lately which is not good in my book (Thats one thing I liked about the designs of Chevy cars , they didn't make their cars with big grills until now). The only models I think they executed the grill perfectly are the refreshed cruze and malibu which look good Imo.
Mustang 10 speed at least on the Ecoboost wasn't very good when I test drove it back in 2018 and it still isn't in the 2022 version. It feels like it is continuously trying to find a gear even in Track or Sport Plus modes.
Saving for a Challenger Hemi right now. The smoother quieter ride appeals to me as does that typical deep V8 rumble from those Hemis. As a long time drag racer (non-professional) my Challenger will no doubt see some drag strip use. Love the retro muscle car look too! I don't want a "sports car", I want a "muscle car".
Nothing says American muscle like Challenger's decade-old Mercedes underpinnings. Base GT is half the price with modern engineering and you can floor it on the street without oversteering in 4th gear at highway speeds. Plus you can play out your long haul trucker fantasy with those 10 gears. It's practically an Eaton-Fuller! As much as I love the Hellcat supercharger, FCA just can't engineer well.
LMFAO Ford isnt exactly making leaps and bounds you know. And as far as going full throttle in 4th and not going sideways, the challenger can do that too. Thats nothing spectacular at all. As far as engineering for the everyday man GM has everyone beat.
Honestly the Ford Mustang is the much better car all around, with that being said the Dodge vehicles have that old school American muscle car identity that doesn't exist outside of Mopar. If you want a big comfy cruiser that has lots of horsepower and torque and sounds great Dodge scats and Cats definitely get the job done. If you want a legitimate budget super car you'll go with a ten speed Ford 5.0 Mustang, especially if you want to dominate the street racing scene. It really comes to what the driver intends to do with the car.

John Alexander you are right. My comments I made about Visibility was from observations I had when test driving a Camaro.
