I really love how you’ve laid out your kitchen. I also really love your videos AND your recipes. (AND,as a Louisiana boy that decided to retire in New Mexico, ya’lls accent is like beautiful music to me)
I grew up eating this my entire childhood. Mama called it goulash and she always added onion and I think maybe green or red or yellow pepper but I can't remember for sure. What I do remember is that it was divinely delicious.
I'm 71 and remember this well from my childhood and have made it many times. We always called it American Goulash. Grandma always made it, and added a small spoonful of sugar. Love it, and it's what I really call a comfort food.
I loved to visit my Aunt Evelyn, who had four kids about my age, and this was a staple dish at her house. I could never duplicate the taste that she created. So delish! And she didn't use beans in hers.
Same here, and we always had cornbread. I’ve made it for years, but it still doesn’t taste like Mom’s. (Probably because she used our home grown beef.)
I’ve always cooked my hamburger in water. My stepmom told me this trick a long time ago. It gets rid of all the grease , we’ve never noticed any loss of flavor.
This is Betty! Great job! And, yes, the reason for all the liquids is the pasta cooks in the pan. And it is delicious the next day. The sour cream mellows everything out. Just trying to lend a hand so you don't have to work quite so hard. Tammy, you and Chris have been told countless times what you both mean to folks out here so never forget. Hope everyone makes it their own and enjoys!
I make something similar. Mother called it Goulash. Easy peezy. I used to make it a lot when all the kids were little, and actually I made it about two weeks ago for Jerry and me. He loves corn with it and I put some grated cheese on top. It’s one of my favorite easy night dinners.I love the idea of using the fire roasted tomatoes. I usually use tomato sauce. 🌹
This is a pretty common family meal down here in Texas, except we add corn and subtract the beans. And, of course, we put cheese on top because Texas. Cornbread rounds out the meal. You look great, btw. Keep on doing what works for you! ~ Lisa
I ran across this video by this couple I really enjoy watching. I had to chuckle because I made a version of this while I was in college in the late 1970s! In my version I added a bay leaf and used drained pinto beans instead of kidney beans... and this recipe is definitely better the next day. My roommates loved it!!!
This looks very good, and I have run across many of similar recipes to this but have never tried any of them. You would think that since this recipe is kid-friendly, the school cafeterias would be serving it, but they don't. Also, I wanted to mention that I love your rooster box, the one with roosters on three compartments sitting on your counter. I have a number of rooster items in my kitchen as well, but not that one.
This looks just like my mom use to make!! She called it goulash, too!!! yum, yum!! You two are so cute and I love watching your cooking videos!! Just found you on YT, so it's been a joy to watch your past videos. :)
I got all the ingredients n even have hamburger thawed out! I might make this instead of just burgers! Thank you Tammy! Consider dinner done! Love y'all n God Bless
Growing up, we didn't add the beans, used beef broth, onions peppers, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. The macaroni was added while it was simmering. We called it goulash, the school called it Johnny Marzettti, and on the east coast it's American Chop Suey.
My aunt used to make something very similar to this that she called "Macarooch" for some reason lol When she passed we never could find the recipe. I'm definitely gonna try this one!
I know you said you boiled the pasta due to time but I used to make something very similar to that and it made a noticeable difference when I cooked the pasta in the same pot. It was much better with the pasta in the same pot. Great show and that can opener looks like it would work good with arthritis.
Ma'am may I suggest a whole video for the shortcuts for the chili mix type spices. Like the meatloaf or Italian seasoning or ranch. If would be helpful to stopping spending so much on the little package of spice and perhaps cutting out a season you find you don't like as much in the mixes.
Hi Tammy! Thanks for the demo of this recipe that Betty sent. This is so similar to a recipe my grandmother made. She called it goulash. I remember one time we didn't have all the seasonings on hand but rather than making a trip to the store she used a can of a product called Snappy Tom that was a pretty spicy tomato juice which blended well with the rest of the ingredients by the time the dish simmered a bit and the flavors mingled. This is such a versatile recipe. I need to add this to our meal rotation because it's definitely one my crew will enjoy! Thanks again for another recipe and video, y'all! BTW, congrats to you both on continuing to watch your meal planning and dropping those pounds! You're both an inspiration! 😊
Ms. Tammy, i watched you make this “chili Mac” recipe from a viewer named Becky. My husband made it for me (he’s a sweetheart!!). We both loved it!! It was delicious!! Thank you both for sharing this recipe. ❤️😊
OMGoodness. I feel I sound like my mama too. My favorite dessert was homemade sponge cake with homemade pudding and frosted with whipped heavy cream. Really delicious and I miss her so. Love your show. Thank you. 💕
Enjoyed the Video Recipe, that homemade Chilly recipe made me hungry, love it ,thanks so much for Sharing your good O’ homemade Chilly recipe with us, thumbs up 👍🏻 for great Content and great tips throughout.
I bet it is really good. My family hates kidney beans, so we'd substitute and use cili beans. Other than that add a nice green side salad and dinner is served! Jill Gross
In Texas, we call this goulash, minus the beans. I grew up eating this and my kids grew up with it also. It is really good. I put shredded cheese on the top of mine.
A little cheese and a little avocado would be good on top too…and for a tad bit of crunch maybe a few Fritos….but hey I’m from TX that’s how we do it here 😋😉….homemade chip Mac is best over the box stuff any day… Love your videos
Im always so afraid you are going to burn inside your mouth when you taste what you have cooked. This dish looks so tasty I am going to have to try it. My family always liked these type of ground beef dishes the next day.
I always rinse my hamburger! I presently have 4 adult children living at home (3 have moved out!) With my hubby and I having 4 adults to feed plus us, they never noticed any difference in the taste. I have always watched the fat (thanks to my mother now deceased, 90!) with my family. Your food will still be flavorable if you say nothing! For some reason your family will say they notice. Nah! Can't tell! Still very good. We've lost alot of weight when we made sure to rinse off ground beef and trim almost all of your fat on roasts and any pork! My whole family (7 of us currently) never notice any fat withdrawal! Lol!
I never thought about rinsing my ground beef. I’m going to do that from now on, but before I add the onions or other seasonings. Wonderful tip. Thank you, Tammy. This looks wonderful. Almost like goulash with the chili twist and no awful green pepper. Ha! Love the green polka dot shirt.
👩💻Looks and sounds delish! Thanks for the chili seasoning list, now I don't have to consume all the salt and preservatives in an actual store bought packet. Much love and peace. 🙋♀️🪔🌞🌠⚓🖖🐞🧘♀️☯️
Tammy, i made your Salisbury Steak with the Weber Steak and Chop seasoning and Bella’s and onions. It was very tasty and my husband had seconds, which is almost unheard of anymore since he began his weight loss journey. Thank you for the inspiration to begin cooking again.
ACTUALLY MADE YOUR RECIPE AND SIMMERING. SADLY, NO MACARONI, SO USING OTHER NOODLES FOR IT. THANK YOU. YOU ARE ADORABLE TAMMY. GET CUTER EVERY VIDEO. 😊

Yeppers. That's goulash. Yummy 😋
We also called it chili con carne, comfort food 😊
I'm 71 and remember this well from my childhood and have made it many times. We always called it American Goulash. Grandma always made it, and added a small spoonful of sugar. Love it, and it's what I really call a comfort food.
My mom use to make this with out the beans. She called it goulash. I love the flavor of the roasted tomatoes in anything. They flavor it so well.
@@sarahlopez4860 yeah and she always used her home canned tomatoes. I make it, but it still don't taste like my mom's did.
I love this lady! I feel like I'm hanging out with her in her kitchen. Lol. I think about her when I'm cooking. :)
I’ve always cooked my hamburger in water. My stepmom told me this trick a long time ago. It gets rid of all the grease , we’ve never noticed any loss of flavor.
Bring on the cooler temps and all the comfort meals.

Yes! Thank you!
I would like to make this dish with the uncooked macaroni in it. Is there enough liquid with the tomato sauce and the kidney beans?
I actually also add a can of water.
Thank you so much for your quick reply. That is what I would’ve done and that’s what I will do.
@@barbaracluse5874 add a can ofwater

That’s one of my favorites I made it ever since I was in school. The lunch lady’s made this in the fall for us … so good with garlic bread yummy
I’m 81 years old and I’ve never rinsed my hamburger. Just proves you’re never too old to learn! Thanks!
I made this tonight and oh my gosh !! It’s a huge hit !, hubby loves it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼..... Thank u Tammy ... love ya 💓💓💓💓

Fantastic!
That Chili Mac looks so yummy! I hope to try it over the weekend! Thank you for sharing 😊
I will try this, my mom made it but I have been cooking 60 years and have never made chili Mac. Thanks for sharing.
Made this tonight. I was really good. Added the sour cream like you did. Loved it.
Thank you for doing this video.
Glad you tried it!

I'm going to order your cookbooks one at a time. I like that utensil you used for the beef. Bless it first and it will be better
Hope you enjoy

I just made this but using ground turkey.
It's a great recipe. Thank you so much. My first time ever making this. 💐

A version of this has been our family standby for decades. We always add grated cheddar cheese on top! I never precook the macaroni either.
You make me so hungry! Can’t wait to try this one too!

Yum. Old school!
I went and made this Chili! Put mine in crock pot! Gunna eat it for Dinner!
Hope you enjoy
My Mother made this when I was growing up. Another thing I do when I drain the hamburger meat I always wipe out the pan I use with paper towels.
It will turn cold soon, Great recipes on a cold day warm up your belly.
My hubby absolutely loves this dish!
That's how i would do it. Using a big spoon works great.
A great fall meal Tammy. Delicious! 😋
Yum yum 😋. Brings back memories of growing up. My Daddy made great chili & IF ANY leftovers we knew it was chili-mac for the next day. 😁😍
We had this at school in the 60s and often went back for seconds !
In Texas, we call this goulash, minus the beans. I grew up eating this and my kids grew up with it also. It is really good. I put shredded cheese on the top of mine.
You put sour cream on top like we do at our house!
Only way to do it!
♡
This looks really delicious....enjoy your channel very much...
I would add some shredded cheese on top.
Also, it looks like stored spices are above your stove. Heat degrades spices and dried herbs. 🌿
That looks really good, I'm a big kid. Lol would be good topped with cheddar too.
Looks good we called it goulash 👍😃❤️
It looks so, so good! Mmm
My mom made this. We loved it! We never heard of cumin... I bet my mom still does not have it in her spice cupboard! Ha ha.
Looks good looks like my mamas thanks for sharing it aw I seen the furbabies so cute I wish I can play with them God bless
Feed this to my family. It was easy on busy days.
I bet that would be good over spaghetti 🍝noooddlees??
It is Hilda! I've made it that way several times. 😊
I love Chili Mac! Made this a few nights ago but don't have your will power, so I added cheese, sour cream and had toasty bread on the side. 😊
Definitely trying this chef
A little cheese and a little avocado would be good on top too…and for a tad bit of crunch maybe a few Fritos….but hey I’m from TX that’s how we do it here 😋😉….homemade chip Mac is best over the box stuff any day… Love your videos
I ordered that can opener .. it will be here Saturday.. thank you for your review..
Looks absolutely delicious 😋
think I will sprinkle cheese on top when I make it. I ordered all 4 of your cookbooks.
Wonderful!
Im always so afraid you are going to burn inside your mouth when you taste what you have cooked. This dish looks so tasty I am going to have to try it. My family always liked these type of ground beef dishes the next day.
My Nana always served it with cornbread. Yummy
My grandma use to make this without the chili powder. I can’t get mine to taste like hers, she put all the love into it 🥰
Janet, She might have made an American Chop Suey recipe. It doesn't have any chili powder in it.
Love watching you cook
Yup chili Mac it's yummy !!! It's flavors are different from goulash recipe both are very yummy though..
My mom made this too. Its my husband's favorite dish!
Thank you just awesome video looks delicious 🥰🥰🥰
Put cheese on top and bake it... yummy 😋

I think that's a wonderful idea to rinse the ground beef and I will be doing that!
My grandma added some fried bacon into hers. It sounds weird, but the combo of the beans, tomatoes, and pasta with the bacon is delicious.
I ordered me some ordered from the web site and also fixed the chili max for supper today. It was a hit.
Awesome!
This looks amazing Tammy y’all are doing amazing w diet. 💕🥰 it truly is the small things. One of my recommendations get rid of sodas ALL of them.
Looks like a keeper to me.
Old or new I love all your videos they look delicious 😋 😍 😜
I used to rinse my meat all the time like that. I never had any complaints. But I buy leaner meat now I don’t have to rinse it.
