    Oi! young 'un!! Don't you be bragging about your youthful years - compared to my tender 72!! 😂
    Good to see a bit more railway history, in particular the loading system, and the fact it was connected with Las Menas.
    I don't know when you filmed this, but I've locked myself down just now at Boca de Huérgana, to avoid ex-hurricane Kirk!

      Hi Martin,
      this was filmed one day last week, Wednesday I think.
      It is now pretty grim here. Overcast and extremely windy 😱
      You are doing extremely well for you age Martin. I'm sure that I'll be way more knackered than you, when we finally get to hang out ! So go easy on me !
      Cheers Martin. I hope you have decent riding weather tomorrow 🤞 Enjoy the trip and see you soon !

      I don't think tomorrow will happen Garry, Kirk is a bit late passing through, but the picture for Thursday and beyond is different again. I might not spend as much time in Portugal as planned, but I'm just confident that conditions WILL be good for my Mojàcar visit. I'm sure there'll be naysayers telling me I should just go for it tomorrow, but I've just got my sodding boots dry!! 🤣

      well of course, it was a brand new bike and I stuck to the 4000 rpm running in limit the whole time, so I have no idea what you are talking about 😇

      No, I did enjoy it a little bit ! 🤗
      Nice bike. Great fun for your buck. Much like the Meteor, just fun in a very different way. Quite tempting at that price, I have to admit !
      Part one of my test ride comes out next Tuesday. In part two, after giving my first impressions in part one, the bike has been straightened back out again ( 😱wasn't me, honest ! ) and I take it up some twisties to see how it would feel on the kind of roads that I tend to ride.

    Yay... train stations! It's always nice to see real life in another country. My favourite thing is visiting supermarkets in whichever country I'm visiting. I have pensions that are not worth a bean...bastards! That planetarium looks really cool... can you see my house from there?

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha, true Kevin. The state of a supermarket usually says a lot about the culture of the country that you are in. Supermarkets are a great barometer in my experience too 👍
      Since I took out that pension, I imagine that it got wiped out by stock market crashes at least three times. I am certainly getting less out than I put in so I would have been better off using some of that money to buy whisky and then just wasting the rest. Bar stewards indeed ! The only positive is that I'd forgotten all about it and that SOMEHOW they managed to get the letter to me. I have probably moved five times in two different countries since I took out the policy and at some point I did stop informing them. They actually sent the letter to a seventeen year old address and the post lady knew where I currently live and delivered it here. Quite impressive ! One of the upsides of living so rurally, I suppose. Everybody knows where everybody else lives.
      So although it's not a significant amount of money, it's money that I'd totally forgotten about, so it does at least "feel" like free money 😛
      Ruby is all in favour of it, if it means that we can upgrade from Frankfurters to Bratwurst. Not so sure about that. I have to fry the Bratwurst. Sounds like too much work ! 😂

    Nice walkaround Gary, That must've been a bustling place in it's heyday, makes you wonder what happens to all these industries. That was some sossige at the end! Its usually a sign of something special when they whip it away to eat it out of sight! 😊. I think congratulations are in order for your new found fame (not to mention wealth), Will you be considering adding a Hayabusa to the fleet so that you can outrun the paparazzi? 😁👍

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Ken !
      Yes, hard to imagine what it must have been like back then. A lot noisier, dirtier and probably more dangerous to your health, I'd guess. I was glad to find the historical photos because I'd never seen any before and they did give me a bit more insight.
      Ruby must have thought that I'd given her one of my sossidges by mistake and decided that she'd disappear with it before I had the chance to realise my mistake and snatch it back 😂
      It was actually really cute to see how excited a few people on the One Ride were to see me. Yes. It was nice. It's not often that anybody is pleased to see me, to be honest. so I did find it very endearing, bless 'em 😂 Me being me, I didn't have enough stickers to go around of course, so I ended up leaving some in the bike shop when I went to test their Guerrilla.
      I think a Hayabusa is a bike that every biker should have owned once. It would also have sufficient oomph to outrun the paparazzi. Hmmmm. 🤔 Stop being a bad influence Ken !
      Thanks for watching Ken. I hope all is well with you and the girls 👍

    Evening Garry a video with fame and fortune and rain in Spain 🤣🤣. Great photo for saddle bags if a little macabre ( is that how it’s spelt ) I bet in past times I bet seron wasn’t such a quiet place but a hive of activity, chilled me right out.
    The classic in for a treat on Friday, oil n filters, new front pads, new Metzelers front and back, and those bar end mirrors I’ve been promising myself for over a year 🤣
    Just please don’t rain on me 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
    Ruby got a sossidge and a half there mate good enough to run off with in case (I reckon) she thought she was only allowed half at a time and dad had slipped up 😂😂 chilli is utterly jealous , she would have done the same disappeared in the garden 😂

      Will keep things crossed for you that it doesn't rain on the day. I hope that this time you do actually get those gorgeous bar end mirrors fitted and working 🤞 They really are the best upgrade !
      Yes, I think you are probably right. Ruby couldn't believe her luck, thought that I must have made some sort of mistake and decided to withdraw to a safe distance to stop me snatching it back when I realised my error 😂
      She certainly enjoyed it and as ever, deserved it. She's such a good girl and she has an amazing vocabulary to boot ! And yes, macabre is the right spelling 👍

      last time I had Metzelers was on my plastic maggots back in the 80s.
      I only had the choice of Ceats ,Metz,or Avons, (others that I had never heard of,) much better choice for a Hunter. Meteor has a more regular wheel size, I think. Other manufacturers seem to carry the front but not the rear or vice versa when I was looking ie Michelin, I like a matched pair personally so Metz or Avons. 😊 also interested in wear rate compared to Ceats as well mine still have loads of meat on them but have lost a bit of their sure footed ness especially in quick changes of direction. 🇫🇷

    Ah, pensions. I've got three. One of which pays me a whole 80-odd quid a month, which isn't too bad considering I thought they'd gone bust. Pays for a few beers. 😀 Nice bit of history there with the station. Very interesting. Never thought of Spain as an iron ore producer. More a place where bank robbers hide out. 😜

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Thimbur,
      well, other than the cash out, I also had the option of 80 EUR per year for life. So if you managed to get 80 quid per month, you did very well 😂
      I decided that I could probably live without the extra 80 EUR per year and would rather have a boost to my savings in the here and now. When the money arrives it will be going in the "next bike fund" where it may remain or quickly be spent. We shall see !
      Hard to imagine how much different Serón must have been back then. Before the Industrial Revolution, the only work here was in agriculture. Then suddenly there was a demand for steel and iron ore. Suddenly Serón had a new source of income and work for folks from all around and suddenly looked very industrial. Then, once the ore had gone and the demand for steel had levelled off, it all went quiet again. I suppose it's a bit like the many gold rush towns all around the globe. Nothing. Then madness. Then nothing again.
      I was chuffed to find the historic pictures because I'd never found any before and had no idea what Serón must have looked like in its boom period.
      😂 Bank robbers ! 😇
