    I sleep in mine every night (indoors, without the bugnet). I did the same mods that you did. I also removed the attached stuff sack. This is by far the best value hammock out there. I don't care for a daisy chain suspension so I use it with my UCRs instead. Nice video! I like the way you used the original loops to pull through the Amsteel loops, I did the same thing. Convenient trick.

    What's really great about this hammock is that the company has been listening and making improvements. There's a different stuff sack now and the ridgeline is 2mm uhmwpe.

    I know hammocks but you explained that a hell of a lot better than I ever could lol. My gear is mostly centered around going light for backpacking but I can see getting that to go car camping with my girlfriend. The width is perfect for her to get a good diagonal. Good call on replacing that paracord lol. Not sure what they were thinking with that. Although, at that price point, you can't go wrong. You've got pack hooks, a ridgeline organizer, and a removable bugnet for fifty bucks... Good find!

    Its an awesome hammock. I have it. Even though I wanted camo it is olive drab aside from the orange or blue. It was a simple simple simple fix. I took a cheap walmart fabric marker in grey and colored over the orange. Its a mod you don't even have to make. Unless you want to. But for the camo stealth people, it works and I am very pleased with the hammock. Of course after they updated the hammock it was a no Brainerd being it comes with the suspension and bug net at a very very good price.

    A simple solution for the tree straps to get more loops. Hang them backwards.

    I’ve had this hammock for almost a year, and it’s awesome! I’m not hammock construction savvy so I couldn’t tell exactly how you replaced the ridge line and put in continuous loops. I’ve never been able to get any slack in the original ridge line, no matter how loose I hang the hammock. It’s always super tight. So I’m guessing mine is tied well. Would you be able to post a slower version of the video of you installing the new ridge line? I couldn’t tell how you attached it to the continuous loops. Thanks so much for the video!

      I can get that done, may take a bit as I’m at the busy time of my job. If I kept the original footage of this video then it will be easy, if not I’ll have to reshoot that part 👍🏻

    Try using your daisy chains backwards. So much more adjustments! Check out Bob Amos, he has a good short video clip of this! Happy hangings!

    Good video John. Just wanted to add a little info on that bug net. It actually does come completely off and stores in the bag at the end of the hammock. I did a video about a month ago and showed that it is removeable. Here is a link to that video where I totally remove it. I am sure that your daughter will enjoy this hammock as it really is well worth the money. I also changed the ridgeline and continuous loops to and did it right away for the same reason and I also found that it was not tied very securely. So it looks as if they are all done exactly the same. Enjoyed the video by the way.

      Bob Amos thanks bob, good tip on the net removal. I tried it out my self and seems to be an easy hammock to get along with. Definitely one to have if just starting or as a loaner. I may even try it on a camping trip to see how it fares. There seems to be a little difference between the 1.6 this has and the 1.6 hexagon of the HG hammock the wife has. Let me know how yours holds up over the long haul.

    Thanks for making this video. Looks like nice setup. What length and diameter of shock cord are you using for the head/foot pull-outs you show in the video?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you like the video, the shock cord is 1/8”

    Thanks for the vid! Seems like a great hammock. My one concern would be the light-colored bug net. Black bug nets seem to allow better visibility as they don't catch the light. Did you find that to be much of an issue?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't find any issues with it. that being said I have set it up in direct sunlight to see. right now we are having a lot of storms blow through. I can check it for you once clear if you like

    Thanks for the video man I just ordered ones of these. 1 question, How long is the ridgeline that you replaced with the original one?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      110” you can try different lengths to get the feel you want. I would say a range between 108-112”. Once hung the ridge line should be between floppy and guitar string tight. In the video you can see the way I check it, if I can easily bend the long between my fingers about 45* , laying in the hammock, then that’s close to right.

    How difficult would it be to attach cinch buckles to the new continuous loops they now come with?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be easy to do depending on how the cinch buckles attach.

    Great video I just heard about this hammock from Spiguyver. You look like you have broad shoulders, I am 5' 11", 250*, fairly broad shoulders and a side sleeper that tosses and turns. Do you think the width will be ok for me? Thanks

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Warren Davidson I know this answer isn’t what your looking for, but It depends on your shoulders. If you have shoulders that are easily hurt then it may bother you. Sleeping on my side I do net have any issues. At time on my back I can get a sore shoulder but when turning to my side it is relieved. The hammock, once the mods are done, is sturdy and strong enough to move around in with out issues.

    Have you ever used it in conjunction with a airpad?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t, I use to use camping pad but that was before I got an under quilt. I figure it would work as good as other single layer hammocks.

    How wide is it?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      58” is what I believe it would be called, I measured 57. I’m sure with the net off and payed on the ground it would be 58”
