Joy, you’re a natural teacher (on steroids...lol). This was a terrific explanation of both the “how” & “why” of each step. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. Hope you got your house in order before Jerry got home. We won’t spill the beans of how you live when he’s not around. 😉🤣 Too funny!

I am learning soooooo much from you, Joy. Thankyou. What I thought would be a simple tee shirt patter has turned into a true learning experience in fitting. I’ve added darts, lowered a shoulder, taken in the gaping armhole, lengthened the sleeve, learned ton use stay tape, and lots of practice with my serger. But I am not frustrated! I am grateful to you for all the instruction and sewing tidbits!☺️

Fabulous After 50! I love that woman! Thanks for reminding me about her! I'm going to pick up 5 lb. weights today while I'm running errands since I've been using cans of green beans to do my arms - lol! She has that one where you do arms, then walk in place for 30 seconds, then do more arms, then walk . . . I think the whole thing is 5-10 minutes total but it is fabulous! I really like her. She doesn't ask too much, you know?
Love that folded facing! I have got to try scrimping. I still haven't tried it yet, mainly because everything I make these days is sleeveless. I totally forgot about the file folder pieces - gotta do that too! I think it's gone by the wayside after having to move the dang "studio" so many times - it really does turn into a studio after 50 years of accumulating stuff, doesn't it? No more moving for a long time! Maybe ever!
I am going to go back to my AFI/Dusan pattern and give it a try with something soon. Right now I just have too many store-bought patterns to do. But I really want to play around with it and get more confident. The whole thing is to get clothes that fit, and you do that really well. There is nothing worse than wearing clothes that don't fit to make you look less than your best. Thanks for the tips. And could you just come clean my house too? I have company coming on Friday. I'll give you my fabulous brownies . . . : D

Good morning! I'm going to try waist darts like this on my next blouse, because waist darts pooch out at the bottom on me, too. Jennifer Lzr buttonholes...darn things! Even after a lot of years I still sometimes run not troubles. In most Big Four patterns they will include a buttonhole guide. I use that, but if I think I will use the pattern over and over I take some fusible interfacing and iron it onto it first. Anyway, mark very carefully. And be aware that any double weight areas or seams will affect how your machine behaves.

Houray! Joy is on! Now the only thing I am missing is that blouse to wear it and I hope JoAnn has the fabric in my town. See, JoAnn should sponsor your video. :)) My husband is on a trip and I haven't vacuumed, haven't cooked, haven't do dishes or laundry for three days in a row. Yesterday I sacrificed and cleaned around, and did all cooking so now I can do nothing for another three days. Thank you for the video because my sewing mojo left in vacation and I just pulled it back in my living space! Tammy posted a yarn and knitting video a few days ago and I started knitting a wool hat although there are 90 F here and we have no winter. I will get my sewing machine on the table...And if anyone wants to see what's inside your iron they can go watch one of my only two videos on my channel Catalina Papadia , hahaha! I made a video about sewing that challenged cardigan but haven't post it yet .

I hope they do something for us too . I have purchased over $590 on craftsy and have not watched half of them. I liked to know I could refer back to them as needed. I purchased quite a few at full price. Oh my!

Oh my goodness, Joy, I was cracking up so much at your pin and iron fiasco. And I love that you live like I do when your hubby’s not home. Scurrying to clean back up. Although he’s caught me a few times in our more unpredictable ‘retired’ life. LOL.
But I do have a question... when you do your cut-in facing instead of sewn on and you’re adding the neck piece later, how do you know it’s going to fit exactly? What if you didn’t cut it exactly on and you have a little extra or maybe a little short once you’re trying to fit the facing to the actual garment around the neck area. Just curious how you handle that?

I sure enjoyed this video. You gave us a lot of great tips along with your down to earth humor! And another commenter here, Centered ClayWorks, expressed what I liked about this video, too. You explain the reasoning of why you're doing something, sometimes tell it twice - - so helpful!

Fabulous video! I really like the attached facing!!!!! I will have to try that with my next top. Thanks for the idea of pinning the pressing cloth to the ironing board--mine is always floating around the sewing area.

Thanks for the great tips. I will be making a set of seam markers out of file folders! I never thought of cutting the facing that way, so clever! Already using the crimping technique i learned from Vivmom.

Thank you for sharing your new iron info. I too have been frustrated with buying irons and having not holding up very long. I have even looked at the Laura star irons, but wow they are pricey. The iron you have , if I have the right one, is $241.00 . However it looks impressive.

Awesome tips. Love that attached facing. My mother used to tell me, if you cut the pattern out from top to bottom, you see it together, too to bottom. Do you do it that way?
Thank you for another great video, Joy 😀😁

Wonderful video, great instructions. I would have never thought to pick a large print for a blouse, but it is stunning and will look great with your yellow skirt. Can’t wait to see it together. Which dress form do you have? I want one and been shopping around for the best full figured one.

Love your iron. Could you tell us what the soleplate is?
Love *all* of this! Hugs! Peggy
