    If you have friends or a community to play with... AMs2 is by far the best sim to start with! I race with my 4 friends 2 and they were new to simracing when they started playing ams2, they all had a MUCH better learning curve than mine (which I started with iracing). AMs2 has a plug and play mechanic, you don't need to calibrate almost anything and you can host a server with just one click (nothing like open ports on routers etc) and fill it with AI. Fun, practical, realistic and with beautiful graphics.

      100% agree! I pay my iracing fee but most of the time I find myself driving casual with my friends on ams2...😂
      AC is not too much effort to make it look good... all these mods.. ah no. Time is money 😂

    I grew up playing lots of car games. Everything from Cruisin’ USA to Project Cars. I’ve always played on game pad, but this year I got into a relationship with somebody that has a capable computer. He bought me iRacing and then of course I had to have a wheel, so I started saving. About 2 months ago I finally got my wheel (Logitech G923) and I’ve had the most fun I’ve ever had playing video games. iRacing is now my favorite game ever and I have something I can make content around. Anytime I have free time for gaming, iRacing is my go to. Every single time

      Got my first wheel a couple months ago (g920) and I highly recommend raceroom racing experience it’s definitely top tier in my opinion and everyone should give it a shot as it’s free to try and a considerable amount cheaper than iracing if you do decide to buy their packs 👍

    I agree 💯% with your list. I was introduced to simracing thru gran turismo in 1997. I've have been fascinated in the genre ever since. I am a console hero, so my experience is limited to console racing which I am satisfied with. I have ACC, GT7 and Project cars 2 in my current simracing rotation on PS4/5. The constant development of gt7 is a great thing and the upcoming 1.9 update for ACC will keep me happy for a very long while. Ciao!

    I love ACC, but think that if it were my 1st racing game (my first was from Papyrus) I might have decided to stick with flight sims. The learning curve on ACC is what I'd call "steep" for a true beginner to racing games.

    • @KomalPatel
      @KomalPatel ปีที่แล้ว

      Which one would you recommend?

    • @EdBert
      @EdBert ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KomalPatel hello my brother!
      I think the simple answer is based on what you want. Games are for fun, and for ego massaging.
      Simulators are for realism, which implies the reality check that tells you that you're NOT THAT good.
      I think iRacing is probably the best, but it could cost $5,000USD, and a monthly fee forever. I say screw dat!
      The F1 series are great fun, full of bugs, and technical assist that massage your ego and allow you to compete.
      I think ACC 8s the best compromise of the trio. You will, or you should, find yourself grinding to get another tenth out of your PB lap times.
      You can decide which is most entertaining for you, it is your money.

    If you want an easy entry don't start with ACC or Iracing. Both are great sims and i love both of them but they are not for beginners.
    Instead i would start with raceroom or ams2.
    Rfactor is also a great sim and i think it's between ACC and Iracing.

    probably put in around 400 hours total with multiple racing games on PS5 but this week I decided to try out iRacing and I am hooked on the formula vee races right now, definitely a learning curve coming from GT7 (my main game for a while), physics are a lot different, but in a good way. iRacing is so attractive because of the multiplayer aspect and leveling up your licenses. You really have to earn it :)

      Yes! I'm new to racing games, a friend of mine started with GT Sport, then he went to ACC, he told me to buy ACC but I was overwhelmed by all the tunning aspects and I could not just drive. So I bought GT7 just a month ago and I'm really happy with it, learning the driving principles like how to make the turns, trail breaking, how to accelerate without spinning.
      And I'm willing to try ACC in the future, I'm just learning the basics of tunning.

    A million percent on Assetto Corsa, adding mods. Even the base game alone is already pretty good, but the mods take it to new heights many of the other choices can't match in any way. It can be any sort of era or racing category simulator you want it to be. I made mine into a Japan 90's simulator with tracks, cars, and even streets to drive, drift and cruise on.

    • @diegopestana808
      @diegopestana808 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mods are a negative point for BEGINNERS. The only possible choice as of now is GT7. Maybe Forza can challenge it in the future. Those are not exactly sims, but are extremely easy to just plug and play without knowing much. And they're also not enough to a point where you'll want more.

    • @JallyTee
      @JallyTee ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Assetto Corsa was my first sim and to this day after trying all of them its still my favorite by far. What surprised me the most reading through discords and TH-cam comments was how many people struggle to navigate a PC. It's a shame because they are truly missing out.

    If I had to recommend one single simracing game to a beginner, it would definitely be RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E). It's free to play, or more like free to start, and it is a great game. You have to buy more cars and tracks to enjoy it fully, but overall it's much cheaper than iRacing for example. I don't quite understand why R3E is not more popular.

    I've tried to like Automobilista 2 so hard. At least 30 hours hard. It looks gorgeous. But.. The physics. Even after the big physics overhaul and hours spent tuning I don't get any feeling from the car. The force feedback is strong and responsive, but somehow it does not feel like I'm in control. It feels like I imagine sitting in a slot car would feel. Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom and Assetto Corsa Competizione are on a different level, you can actually feel the tires and suspension, bumps and slopes through the wheel. So, yeah, I would definitely replace AM2 with RaceRoom on the list.
    Ps. haven't even tried iRacing. It suffers from the same problem as rFactor2 for me: looks like you have to either use hundreds of euros to buy this and that or use weeks of your precious time to find out which add-on content you might potentially like before entering the grid. Just give me a reasonably priced beginner pack to get started.

      What your thoughts on ams2 now ? After the latest updates. I’m thinking upgrading my pc and getting into sim racing and ams seems to be the easiest game to set up

    • @ttahola
      @ttahola 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@guill0t520 I'm not really an expert: I've tracked 45 hours of Automobilista 2 so I've added 15 hours since my last comment. But my impression has changed a little; I think at least the various open wheelers are fun. There's still too much sliding and not enough feeling with some other cars. Maybe the borked tyre and/or suspension physics do not play that big role if the car has a lot of downforce. Or maybe it's just that the quality of the car models is inconsistent. AMS2 also shines in single player races, because the AI gives you a good challenge. The multiplayer races involved too much waiting in the lobby for my liking last time I checked.

    Dirt Rally 2.0 hands down - relatively simple, easy to setup and start, hella fun to play, will get you hooked up to racing and introduce you to more sim-y (and boring) games.

    2. "Richard Burns Rally" - not very good choice for beginner

    Gt7 I’d say does it. The variety of cars. Graphics and the learning curve for licenses improve your knowledge about different tracks. Obviously each game has a different feel while driving so what you learn on gt7 may not be completely right but you learn when to brake or turn a corner the right way with those classes. I moved on to ACC after and it has improved my driving even more. So I get y it’s number one for you but the learning curve in ACC feels more like it’s not gonna hold your hand. If u mess up u mess up and it’ll hurt ur rating. But you just gotta git gud lol. But thanks to these 2 games which I played on console I’m now moving on to pc and trying ALL sims. AMs2 rf2 race room and of course Iracing. Just to see what’s my pc game to play. Oh and I’ll be ready for Rennsport too!

    • @matthewjudge3763
      @matthewjudge3763 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's some great online racing in GT7. Some people complain about its physics, but they do make for closer racing, and its matchmaking and penalty system are very effective. My vote goes to AMS2 if you're on pc though, good variety but more realistic tire feel than AC. ACCs great but GT3s do get old.

    • @robinv1485
      @robinv1485 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many top players play with t300's or even the logitech g29 which is slightly worse. Better wheels are good but it's diminishing returns there, you can save the car in certain situations due to the extra feedback but those situations are far from common. Where you get a bigger difference is the pedals. If you want that extra feedback for cheaper you can get some bassshakers, don't buy them from bassshakers, just some 50$ ones from dayton do the trick.
      If you have the t3pa pedals and can't upgrade to load cell, do yourself a favor and do the rubber ball mod so you get some pressure on those.
      Loaded cell makes a huge difference for consistency, the rubber ball gets you 80% of the way there and if you're a beginner-intermediate player that's all you need. Once you get actually good, then yes you may see some gains in switching to better gear.
      Other than that feel free to get into acc and iracing. iracing imo is a bit more beginner friendly since you can play in rookies for a bit

    Being very new (sim gear and rig coming this week) i did a lot of digging and the main issue i found with iRacing is the monthly cost. Now compared to other games like ACC, even if you buy all the DLCs it's still way cheaper than iRacing. It's fine starting with ACC, as you drive the GT4 cars and learn from there.
    It's also very annoying Project Cars 2 isn't available to buy any more as well, as I've been told that was also a very good racing sim and PC3 is more like a NFS game.

    GT7 I would say is the door opener for most, at least GT has it been for me in the past years until I got a Wheel.
    On PC I would vote for AC as there are still a lot of assistance systems if needed and a good bunch of cars and tracks of the shelf. No need to talk about the modding possibilities I think.
    ACC comes with a too steep learning curve and lot of frustrating moments for beginners.
    And even when I love AMS2 you need to know how to set up a car, as a lot standard setups are crap. Also even when AMS2 comes with a big variety of vars and tracks most of them are on the unknown side and wont be to interesting to newbies.
