That old timer Knife is worth trying to save they are good Knives. Try electrolysis, electrolysis, process by which electric current is passed through a substance to effect a chemical change. The chemical change is one in which the substance loses or gains an electron (oxidation or reduction). TH-cam should have a video on how to do it for rust removal. You could also do an ultra sonic on it first to remove sand and any loose rust followed by electrolysis.

The one I use is “pellking” from Amazon. It does pretty good, but i am on my 3rd one. After about 8 months of heavy use the straps stretch.
