    RIP Danny Chandler- boy, he always gave 100% and I sincerely believe that he had gotten a better start, he might had given Mr. Lawson a run for his money because he was matching Eddie's lap times for the last 3rd of the race -

    I was there. Was standing behind Jim Mcay in a blue Oakley Factory pilot shirt and hat at the 50:00 mark. Worked for Oakley and set up goggles for our riders. Wise, Johnson, Malherb, Carlquest. In the evening was the AMA awards banquet. I’m not sure what brought all the riders in every year to San Diego, was it superbikers or the banquet. One thing for sure, AMA puts on a great party, then there are after parties. Good thing I was in my twenties and could survive on no sleep!
    Also, Lawson lived in Corona CA and would race motocross locally all the time when he was in town. He was a dirt tracker first and cut his teeth at Corona raceway. Then a world champion road racer like Kenny Robert’s.

    Thank you for uploading this. I watched a race of this type when I was a child and it fascinated me (might have even been this race). I loved the concept.

    Bot channel can't specify what year this race was. But under "show more" the music has it's credits, and I never heard of them.

    240p max resolution ? Really ?? Surely this can be tweaked as NTSC broadcasts were about 525 reduced to 360 when recorded to VHS.

    in the 70's watched Magoo in central Cal, mountain high near Bass Lake, every lap off the top of the 100 yard steep ass downhill into a hairpin into the start straightaway, every lap he pulled one hander peace signs jumpin farther than anyone, and leadin most of the time!! I think he was 16 or 17 on red KTM that tells what year it was.

    • @rapid13
      @rapid13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was 1983, right? If so, Freddie was probably busy with HRC obligations. HRC is infamous for contracts that force riders to do a LOT of PR stuff during the offseason.
