Pro tip for Sharpshooter 8: You can go to any gang hideout where there are sentries. Then aim at one of the enemies holding a long weapon and shoot the weapon, NOT the enemy. The enemy should drop the weapon, giving you progress in the challenge. Then, run away and come back to reset the hideout. And there you go!
Shoot poison arrows at the guards over at the oil rigs and they'll drop their guns before they fall down and ot counts for this challenge also. Easier than aiming for guns and arms.
@@RecMike I had no idea about the poison arrows nice tip. I still do it at Cornwall kerosene and tar because they usually have repeaters and it's easy to shoot their elbow but that makes it way easier!
The last few weeks I was playing Lenny always stood guard, but now when I have to get his rifle he's just dicking around in camp all day. He must know I want it.
@@Temp-hg3kq Find the interactive RSR2 map and get to work. I think I was able to get all of the carvings and bones before meeting them, but I may actually be wrong. It might have been like orchids (which I did those too) where you can get 1 less then the amount you need (aka “N-1”). So if you need 10 carvings, it MIGHT be 9, then trigger, then go get final but I’m not sure. I can tell you when I started Chapter 3 on my current play through, I was already at 53.4%
Theres an easier way to get lennys gun. When hes on guard he stabds at the large oak. You can use weapons when your past that tree. In the large oak canopy is a bee hive. Hit the behive with an arrow when lenny is resting under the tree.

Hanging Dog Ranch is a great place to take care some of the challenges, but for the 660 foot kill with a long scoped rifle, I have always found the Van Horn Lighthouse to be the easiest and oddly enough, more satisfying. Just climb to the top of the Lighthouse and shoot a person in a boat when they are far enough away. The view can be spectacular compared to the view when shooting at ground level.
For the hats one, if you want to keep honor, just find an O’Driscoll or Lemoyne Raider camp. Load shells and get just close enough the dot goes red. To ensure the 660’ kill I’ve used exploding ammo as well.
Who cares about shooting civilians? I'll just say hi to everybody even though I'm public enemy no1 and all forgiven. It's even more hilarious when you reload an auto save after getting a bounty because you still have the bounty but cops will literally do nothing about it except say things like "you must be stupid showing your face round here!" But proceed to just let you walk on after saying hello. If you end up in a shootout reload the auto save it made when the shooting started. Keeps all progress but resets even the cops back to leaving you alone 🤷♂️. Don't know why but it works. I can have max honor 1500$ bounties in 4 states and talk to cops to raise my honor without them shooting at me. San denis is a funny place.
I’ll confirm that this does actually work as of Oct. 22, 2023, playing the PS4 version of RDR2 on the PS5. These are a few things that I wish I knew before I started: (1) I don’t think it matters whether Lenny is out on patrol or not. What matters is that he’s (a) in camp at all and (b) crucially, not preoccupied with something. For example, if you’re in Chapter 2, Lenny will probably be rotating between on guard and waiting for Arthur at the 5 finger filet. If you see Lenny at the 5 finger filet table, play him. He will never appear as a companion if the game is making him wait for Arthur to challenge him (you actually get a cut scene out of it when you challenge him). He can also be preoccupied by getting bullied by Bill believe it or not, so make sure you watch that interaction happen too if you haven’t already. (2) As above, I think especially it doesn’t matter who is on guard, because in order to find someone alone, you will probably have to ride far enough from camp that will despawn everyone. That’s why I think the critical thing is that Lenny be unoccupied, not on guard. (3) You should antagonize the NPC into being an enemy before you hog tie them, because you otherwise run the very real risk that they will simply untie themselves and flee, or untie themselves and turn into a witness running to the law. Both instances will make you explode yourself for no reason and cause you start over. (4) If you’re antagonizing them into being an enemy before you hog tie them, DO NOT do it anywhere near the camp, otherwise enemies will be too close and the game will reset. (5) You’ll probably have to trigger the companion glitch about 4-5 times before you get Lenny. (6) If you get Lenny and he pulls out the sidearm, quit and restart. If you get Lenny but he stays at camp, quit and restart. Even if Lenny appears as a gray dot on the map, occasionally only Hosea and Charles will show up (for example). And even if you get Lenny, he might just have his sidearm, and never pull out his rifle. There is nothing you can do about any of this, so you have to reset. You cannot get Lenny to follow you, even if he is a gray dot back at camp. You cannot get him to pull out his rifle if he’s using his side arm (even if you murder literally everyone between Valentine and Emerald Ranch). All of which is very frustrating. (7) Most importantly: It worked!! You have Lenny, you set a camp, AND he’s got his rifle. Finally!! Do NOT antagonize someone into a gun fight anywhere near camp. Like the road closest to your camp between yours and the gang camp. The game will detect that an enemy is nearby and will reset before you can get the gun. Don’t even risk it. Just ride out toward Emerald Ranch and do it to someone along the way there. (8) How do you get rid of the companions? They actually all just drop off eventually. Lenny stuck around with me the longest, but as soon as I did a serial killer ? mission, he left and was no where to be found when I re-emerged from the basement.
the only problem is when lenny has the rifle, puts it on his horse and i blow it up the rifle disappears. I did a frame by frame and it just vanishes the moment the horse dies.
Something I wish I didn’t waste time on: Trying to force Lenny to get his rolling block out after having his revolver get disarmed. Its impossible, I went to hanging dog ranch and spent a-lot of time spamming overhealth items and disarming odriscols to have them try to disarm Lenny but because Lenny is more focused on your safety he instantly kills everyone. I kid you not he really slaughtered everyone at hanging dog ranch all by himself with some revolver by the end of all the fighting. So yeah Reload save like you said because jeez I wasted so much time to get him to do nothing in the long run anyways.
@@Matth3w-wil it worked for me Lenny went carnage below Elysian Pool. He eventually spawned in the rifle but he mostly used his gun. If you walk instead of riding the horse he will more likely use the rolling block rifle in my experience. But when he puts it back on the horse and i blow the horse up it just dissappears and it pisses me off.
You can get the Rolling Block rifle in the bear hunting with Hosea mission while on console 1. At the end of the mission choose the option to ride back to camp with Hosea 2. Silver Dollar (Hosea's horse) will start walking away when Hosea gets off him. Ride near Silver Dollar with your horse until you get the prompt to jump on him 3. Ride away from camp with Silver Dollar and then kill him with dynamite 4. Silver Dollar will drop the rifle on his saddle and then you can pick it up

I can confirm this still works. In my first few tries, it was only Bill, Sean, and Kieran. The hardest part is getting Lenny as your companion. I guess you need to get closer to your camp as much as you can so the whole gang will join you. Finally, after couple of tries, Lenny joined, and he doesn't even have the rifle when he rides his horse, just his revolver, but the moment we get into a gunfight, he pulls his rolling block rifle out of nowhere and stashed it to his horse after, and I just killed his horse with dynamite, and voilà, I saw the rifle glowing in the ground, and I just picked it up.
@@guestuser1479 if you do get him fighting with the rifle, you can lead a disarmed opponent to him and hope that opponent will melee him and the rifle will be left on the ground [as is used to get Micah's revolver in Chapter 1, for instance].
Where is there a 660ft mountain that has good view of a trail or camp around it? it's probably more of a bother to find and climb that than it is to just shoot the distance flat.

Another way to get a rolling block rifle is to get it through blackwater lawmen. Literally all of them & the pinkertons for some reason carry Rolling Block rifles. So you could kill the first batch of pinkertons and see if they have it. If not, go to Blackwater and kill a lawman. They'll 100% have one. You can do it as soon as you unlock free roam aswell and imo I prefer that over doing glitches or doing it in certain missions. Sure, you'll use tonics and get a big bounty. But assuming youre doinf it early in c2 you'll get alot of money making opportunities and also have access to the explorer challenges, so you'll be able to pay it off pretty easily. And if you havent done Uncle's mission your honor bar wont nudge other than the first level
@@nathanmachado8118 I just killed the ones on patrol and just saw that they had a rolling block. Dk why it wouldnt drop. I suggest maybe going to blackwater and shooting one of the lawmen there. I initially went there just to fuck around and get in a shootout and saw that literally every policeman there was carrying a rolling block rifle.
tf? I just went to blackwater, tall trees and scoured west elizabeth with 50 health tonics and 200 high velocity ammo. Absolutely nobody has the fucking rifle. It is not rockstar's way to give you a gun before you "aquire it" in game. Seriously, i wanna know where you're pulling this information from.

To get the rifle from Hosea in town on console it does work. But instead of picking up the rifle and going to graphics(since u can’t on console) jus go to “skip checkpoint” after u pick up the rifle. It’ll b in ur inventory then.
I like your method for the 660' snipe shot better than what I usually do which is go to just west of bards crossing, where you can see Blackwater across the water, there's a steam boat that goes by, you can shoot the guy off the back of the boat it usually gives me the challege there!
Your last 3 videos are brilliant. I just started playing Rdr2. I had already decided to try complete challenges before doing the story. I was disappointed when I started thinking it was impossible. I'm very pleased to shown its not. Cheers.
I did this but Lenny decided to not come, did it again and I got every gang member with me, we all rode across the map shooting enemy gangs, and even went into Blackwater. This glitch is so much fun
no, don't, don't do this. I don't know why you're spreading misinformation, but i just went to blackwater and killed every damn cop within that town, and then rounds and rounds of pinkertons in tall trees, and then pinkertons in the great plains instead. I was shooting from dusk till dawn. NOT ONE. FUCKING. NPC. HAD THE RIFLE. Stop spreading lies, dude. This shit was clearly patched or you're targeting the lawmen in chapter 3 or more
Someone found out a more easy way to get the rolling block rifle. Apparently right after completing the mission with Hosea, you can jump on his horse, ride out of camp and equip the rifle from horse.

you can get the rolling block rifle from hosea after the hunting bear mission, just go home with him, done unmount you horse, then hosea hitches his horse, then the horse will go to it's correct hitching area, at that time you want to jump to his horse, then run it away from camp and use dynamite.
but even if I skip checkpoint, when I go back after the mission replay ends the rifle is not there anymore. Is there a way to return to the story and keep it?
IT WORKED - Keep AUTO SAVE ON instead of off and as soon as you skip it before rabits, you'll have it. If you dont, its timing because it just worked for me
There's another video on TH-cam somewhere about this, but for anyone having trouble executing the second method on console, there's an easy backup strat to get the Rolling Block Rifle early without the benchmark test or the companion glitch if you haven't hunted the bear yet with Hosea. All you have to do is to finish the bear hunting mission, and at the end of it, choose to go back to camp with Hosea. Hang out on your horse by the hitching posts on the right and Hosea's horse (Silver Dollar) should walk over after Hosea gets off it. At this point you can jump on the horse, run it out of camp, and down the horse using a Fire Bottle or Dynamite. It should still have the Rolling Block Rifle on it, just be sure to keep a save prior to the mission just in case. Worked for me without any trouble as of 12/7 on PS5.
@@NiteF0X Unfortunately you are out of luck if you've already hunted the bear with Hosea, you'll need to use the first method in the video with the companion glitch in order to get the rolling block rifle without further progressing the story.
i think this is the smartest and most drawn out way to get the rolling block rifle i've ever seen. honestly might do this companion glitch to kill some other protagonists for their unique guns also, if you have enough money you don't need the volatile fire bottle pamphlet. just upgrade arthur's ammo stock and the last upgrade includes fire bottles. you get 2 per ammo restock
To anyone trying this on PlayStation 4 with the Hosea mission it does not work since you can’t run the benchmark tests. You must use the companion glitch.
He's playing on a PC. Xbox _may_ not have the benchmark test, but PS4 definitely doesn't. I gave up on trying to lure Hosea out of camp. I'm going to try with Lenny. Mainly, I couldn't get a red health core. I'd either die trying to get it red...or else it wasn't red and the dynamite wouldn't kill me in time.
Its actually harder to get the gang members on guard to join you with the companion glitch because they often get sent on a path around camp on guard duty and you usually lose 1 or 2 companions doing the glitch
@@MarcUK yes, normal Companion Glitch as documented in other videos, except near as Hosea as possible-while waiting as a trigger for that mission, he'll be stationary and have the rifle with him.

@@Chilli_ixtrying to find a snake might take a lot of time. I use dynamite since my health core is maxed, and the blow always leaves me with perfect 1% health. You could try putting dynamite and walking a couple of feet away
I just cannot get the Hosea thing to work on xbox. Hosea's horse is not invincible during this bit - and dies. After you start riding to the bear the horse becomes invincible again but you cannot knock it over.
I want to make the perfect start for Arthur in chapter 2, meaning doing everything possible before collecting debt from Mr Downes (to be free from TB) and losing the least possible honor, and killing strictly the necessary and no civilian NPC. To achieve this auto imposed challenge my idea goes this way: using your video grab the rolling rifle (Silver Dollar will respawn so in a way his death doesn't count), from this point try to combine challenges to minimize killing animals for example combine hunter 2 with horseman 1 taking time during "exit pursued by a bruised ego" mission, keep pelts to camp and satchel upgrades. Other example: Use the vultures scavenging the corpse of the first American Dreams mission (because they will respawn until we start the activity) to achieve weapons expert 3 and after fishing with Jack, survivalist 6. I have so many more examples (trying to do bandit challenges without losing honor... use ambushes, Hanging Dog ranch, and Beaver Hollow to achieve Weapons challenges, etc)... to me it would be ideal if "Arthur himself" (meaning you) upload this guide...

you can use Citadel rock for the lengthy snipe, climb up on it and look towards Valentine and just shoot anyone in that range and voila! You dont have to ride all the way out to Hanging Dog
Can confirm: This glitch still works as of 02/15/2024 for PC. When Troll says to ignite the dynamite right when the guy frees his legs, he's correct... it must be done within a few frames of that. Additionally, Lenny may not spawn with the crew that is 'summoned' after you set up camp. It took me three tries to get Lenny with the crew. It should be noted that I tricked out the rifle before saving and reloading... upon reloading the save, the rifle remained as altered and the crew were gone. Nice trick, IT... +rep!

That's harder because you need three at once, and they all need to be at about the same distance. They don't usually group together like that.
I recommend going to valelentine and shoot the poker players with a worn off shotgun as from the other side of the saloon. Worked for me in chapter 2

You can get the Rolling Block rifle in the bear hunting with Hosea mission while on console
1. At the end of the mission choose the option to ride back to camp with Hosea
2. Silver Dollar (Hosea's horse) will start walking away when Hosea gets off him. Ride near Silver Dollar with your horse until you get the prompt to jump on him
3. Ride away from camp with Silver Dollar and then kill him with dynamite
4. Silver Dollar will drop the rifle on his saddle and then you can pick it up

like really he should give you the rifle after the mission. But why the hell does rockstar lock all the guns and not just let you buy them if you have the cash.
I can confirm this still works. In my first few tries, it was only Bill, Sean, and Kieran. The hardest part is getting Lenny as your companion. I guess you need to get closer to your camp as much as you can so the whole gang will join you. Finally, after couple of tries, Lenny joined, and he doesn't even have the rifle when he rides his horse, just his revolver, but the moment we get into a gunfight, he pulls his rolling block rifle out of nowhere and stashed it to his horse after, and I just killed his horse with dynamite, and voilà, I saw the rifle glowing in the ground, and I just picked it up.
idk why but whenever i blow up the horse the rifle instantly despawns.
My Lenny keeps moving around, and when he finally stands guard by the rock I'm gone for 3 mins and when I get back he's moving around already..
@@guestuser1479 if you do get him fighting with the rifle, you can lead a disarmed opponent to him and hope that opponent will melee him and the rifle will be left on the ground [as is used to get Micah's revolver in Chapter 1, for instance].

For sharpshooter 6 I believe vertical distance counts as well so you could go to a high enough place and snipe people on the ground near you
Where is there a 660ft mountain that has good view of a trail or camp around it? it's probably more of a bother to find and climb that than it is to just shoot the distance flat.

Another way to get a rolling block rifle is to get it through blackwater lawmen. Literally all of them & the pinkertons for some reason carry Rolling Block rifles. So you could kill the first batch of pinkertons and see if they have it. If not, go to Blackwater and kill a lawman. They'll 100% have one. You can do it as soon as you unlock free roam aswell and imo I prefer that over doing glitches or doing it in certain missions. Sure, you'll use tonics and get a big bounty. But assuming youre doinf it early in c2 you'll get alot of money making opportunities and also have access to the explorer challenges, so you'll be able to pay it off pretty easily. And if you havent done Uncle's mission your honor bar wont nudge other than the first level
How can you get them to drop a rolling block? I went there, but they've only dropped the carbine repeaters
@@nathanmachado8118 I just killed the ones on patrol and just saw that they had a rolling block. Dk why it wouldnt drop. I suggest maybe going to blackwater and shooting one of the lawmen there. I initially went there just to fuck around and get in a shootout and saw that literally every policeman there was carrying a rolling block rifle.
tf? I just went to blackwater, tall trees and scoured west elizabeth with 50 health tonics and 200 high velocity ammo. Absolutely nobody has the fucking rifle. It is not rockstar's way to give you a gun before you "aquire it" in game. Seriously, i wanna know where you're pulling this information from.

To get the rifle from Hosea in town on console it does work. But instead of picking up the rifle and going to graphics(since u can’t on console) jus go to “skip checkpoint” after u pick up the rifle. It’ll b in ur inventory then.
But how you keep it after the replay?

I like your method for the 660' snipe shot better than what I usually do which is go to just west of bards crossing, where you can see Blackwater across the water, there's a steam boat that goes by, you can shoot the guy off the back of the boat it usually gives me the challege there!
You can hit people all tge way over into blackwater. I love that sniping spot
For Hosea method If you are on console you can fail 3 times then retry again if you get the rifle then die and skip checkpoint and finish mission

I don't know why you're spreading misinformation, but i just went to blackwater and killed every damn cop within that town, and then rounds and rounds of pinkertons in tall trees, and then pinkertons in the great plains instead. I was shooting from dusk till dawn. NOT ONE. FUCKING. NPC. HAD THE RIFLE. Stop spreading lies, dude. This shit was clearly patched or you're targeting the lawmen in chapter 3 or more

Someone found out a more easy way to get the rolling block rifle. Apparently right after completing the mission with Hosea, you can jump on his horse, ride out of camp and equip the rifle from horse.
That sometimes doesn’t work but you can just throw a dynamite at it.

Hosea’s mission in the beginning of chapter 2 is way easier though.
you can get the rolling block rifle from hosea after the hunting bear mission, just go home with him, done unmount you horse, then hosea hitches his horse, then the horse will go to it's correct hitching area, at that time you want to jump to his horse, then run it away from camp and use dynamite.
Love it at the end when Hosea says *Oh god, were never gonna get there* after youd ran into him for the 6th time.

You dont actually need to rescue micah to get the rolling block from the store, but TB is probably required
The second method to get rifle worked way easier than trying to use any companion glitch. Like another person said on console just “Skip Checkpoint.”
but even if I skip checkpoint, when I go back after the mission replay ends the rifle is not there anymore.

IT WORKED - Keep AUTO SAVE ON instead of off and as soon as you skip it before rabits, you'll have it.
If you dont, its timing because it just worked for me
There's another video on TH-cam somewhere about this, but for anyone having trouble executing the second method on console, there's an easy backup strat to get the Rolling Block Rifle early without the benchmark test or the companion glitch if you haven't hunted the bear yet with Hosea.
All you have to do is to finish the bear hunting mission, and at the end of it, choose to go back to camp with Hosea. Hang out on your horse by the hitching posts on the right and Hosea's horse (Silver Dollar) should walk over after Hosea gets off it. At this point you can jump on the horse, run it out of camp, and down the horse using a Fire Bottle or Dynamite. It should still have the Rolling Block Rifle on it, just be sure to keep a save prior to the mission just in case. Worked for me without any trouble as of 12/7 on PS5.

@@NiteF0X Unfortunately you are out of luck if you've already hunted the bear with Hosea, you'll need to use the first method in the video with the companion glitch in order to get the rolling block rifle without further progressing the story.
i think this is the smartest and most drawn out way to get the rolling block rifle i've ever seen. honestly might do this companion glitch to kill some other protagonists for their unique guns
also, if you have enough money you don't need the volatile fire bottle pamphlet. just upgrade arthur's ammo stock and the last upgrade includes fire bottles. you get 2 per ammo restock
To anyone trying this on PlayStation 4 with the Hosea mission it does not work since you can’t run the benchmark tests. You must use the companion glitch.
He's playing on a PC. Xbox _may_ not have the benchmark test, but PS4 definitely doesn't. I gave up on trying to lure Hosea out of camp. I'm going to try with Lenny. Mainly, I couldn't get a red health core. I'd either die trying to get it red...or else it wasn't red and the dynamite wouldn't kill me in time.

Its actually harder to get the gang members on guard to join you with the companion glitch because they often get sent on a path around camp on guard duty and you usually lose 1 or 2 companions doing the glitch
IF you kick lenny far away enough from camp with your horse he will work again

You can also do this before you go hunting with Hosea, who is sitting near the edge of camp with a Rolling Block. You'll draw him out.

@@MarcUK yes, normal Companion Glitch as documented in other videos, except near as Hosea as possible-while waiting as a trigger for that mission, he'll be stationary and have the rifle with him.

@@Chilli_ixtrying to find a snake might take a lot of time. I use dynamite since my health core is maxed, and the blow always leaves me with perfect 1% health. You could try putting dynamite and walking a couple of feet away

I just cannot get the Hosea thing to work on xbox. Hosea's horse is not invincible during this bit - and dies. After you start riding to the bear the horse becomes invincible again but you cannot knock it over.

I want to make the perfect start for Arthur in chapter 2, meaning doing everything possible before collecting debt from Mr Downes (to be free from TB) and losing the least possible honor, and killing strictly the necessary and no civilian NPC. To achieve this auto imposed challenge my idea goes this way: using your video grab the rolling rifle (Silver Dollar will respawn so in a way his death doesn't count), from this point try to combine challenges to minimize killing animals for example combine hunter 2 with horseman 1 taking time during "exit pursued by a bruised ego" mission, keep pelts to camp and satchel upgrades. Other example: Use the vultures scavenging the corpse of the first American Dreams mission (because they will respawn until we start the activity) to achieve weapons expert 3 and after fishing with Jack, survivalist 6. I have so many more examples (trying to do bandit challenges without losing honor... use ambushes, Hanging Dog ranch, and Beaver Hollow to achieve Weapons challenges, etc)... to me it would be ideal if "Arthur himself" (meaning you) upload this guide...

Can confirm: This glitch still works as of 02/15/2024 for PC. When Troll says to ignite the dynamite right when the guy frees his legs, he's correct... it must be done within a few frames of that. Additionally, Lenny may not spawn with the crew that is 'summoned' after you set up camp. It took me three tries to get Lenny with the crew. It should be noted that I tricked out the rifle before saving and reloading... upon reloading the save, the rifle remained as altered and the crew were gone.
