@@DanielZavagna I don’t know why and maybe this makes me death or crazy or whatever but I personally prefer her when she’s at this age when she’s older, I mean don’t get me wrong. I love the videos of her when she’s young but for some reason, I really love the sound of your voice when she’s older the best.
@@Leamichellefan2244 It is not wrong, is just your personal like. Here in Brazil there was a singer called Elizeth Cardoso, and I prefer her voice when she was older than before.
I can't believe so many people are complaining about miss Martons voice, true she's up in age but tbh I think she sounds wonderful and I give her grate respect for doing what she loved for as long as she did.
It's the shitty production of 2008 at the Gran Liceu by the way, not 2002. It's impressing how faultless Polaski´s huge voice still works at the age of 59 years, after her long career with heavy stuff. Marton is just 6 years older there but her voice is a wreckage with wobble turbulences. But her acting is intensely.
It's great to have this souvenir of Polaski and Marton. And I think this is one of the few operas you can move around and make work, but e must always try to be faithful to the story and libretto. This, for me is a total mess (and I am open minded, too). Never the less, thanks for loosing this. Polaski still has it!
Wow! This production is...ridiculous and not in a good way. I don't understand where stage directors have the nerve to alter what is clearly in the score regarding who should be laughing. This looks like a slapstick comedy or farce. Elektra is capable of killing her mother right then and there even if she were drunk. The character doesn't intend humor in the threats made against her mother. She is a mad woman at this time. This looks so silly nor does it help opera.
I think this is from the Liceu Barcelona production in 2008 (not 2002). Unfortunately a great Elektra does not guarantee a good Klytämnestra. Marton's chest voice is non existent and if she resorted to speaking (like a lot of her predecessors who have come from being Elektra) that would have been tolerable. But the rasping sounds she makes resemble an unpleasant emphysematic cough. Although theoretically this is not out of place for Hofmannsthal, it is just doesnt sound right for Strauss.
Marton is always a great artist! It's clear that the voice isn't the same anymore, but when we see her terrific acting we forget about it!
Is it wrong that I still think her voice is lovely in this?
@@Leamichellefan2244 of course not. I said she was better before, but I still like it.

I think miss Martin has an absolutely lovely voice.

That's the most basic and least one can do - to spell a name correctly.
Marton actually is great! Don’t be ridiculous!
This is NOT 2002, BUT 2008 from Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona. Sebastian Weigle conducting.
