- The Miracle of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem
In Orthodox Christian belief, the Holy Fire is a miracle that occurs every year at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. This miracle occurs on Great Saturday, or Holy Saturday, the day preceding Orthodox Easter.
It is believed that during this time, blue light is said to emit within Jesus' tomb, rising from the marble slab covering the stone bed believed to be that upon which Jesus' body is to have been placed for burial. The light is believed to form a column of fire, from which candles are lit. This fire is then used to light the candles . The fire is also said to spontaneously light other lamps and candles around the church. Pilgrims say that the Holy Fire does not burn when you touch it.

The patriarch lights a candle from the flame that burns over the grave where Jesus lay. He brings it out and everyone shares the fire.
May the Lords blessing be upon us all. The number 33 is very holy and blessed the number of years that our Lord Jesus lived on earth. Ever since I have learnt about this miracle I have noticed the number 33 very often. For example I would look at the watch and see 33 minutes quite often, at work I would get 33 units for my type of job. I felt that the Lord was showing me this beautiful vision of 33

@@lornadoone8887 that's fine, it's not the way I've learned to worship or celebrate the Mass. Nothing is more important than the celebration of the Eucharist. So whatever the importance for all that noise, I wouldn't participate in it.
@@coachjmiii5228 Well, I wouldn't behave like that either. But you and I see the world trough the eyes of the adult. And this view is sometimes a bit rigid and judgemental. As a counterbalance, there is also the children's view and way to manifest: free, noisy, exuberant and even annoyingly "untamed". We all go trough it although we like to deny it. In front of God (who is the model of the Man as a being), we have to come entirely, with all of our ages (biologically and metaphorically). Just like during a normal liturgy, amongst the serious chants you often hear a todler crying. This is how I see the presence of those Arabians there, at the Holy Sepulchre, behaving in that extravagant manner. Peace!

Why? If He didn’t approve of it, there would be no Holy Light! It helps to read about the elements of this tradition and their context in the long history of this site and of Christians in this region of the world. The Resurrection is the ultimate conquest of the evil powers of this world, and this is a kind of victory parade by Christians who have suffered much over the centuries at the hand of tyrannical authorities….
