Great memories for me as a kid watching this iconic show as a kid with Bruce and Anthea on a Saturday night.
When the BBC was at the top of their game -sadly not now.
The 70’s for me growing up were a much simpler time, a happy time with my wonderful loving parents. Sadly both gone to the great generation game in heaven

Great TV from an age where you couldn't wait for the weekend and never missed the Generation Game. Such a pity the BBC trawl through TH-cam and delete uploads like this. You would think the BBC would be pleased that for so many people of my age now, BBC TV back then was wonderful, and seeing this again brings back so many lovely memories of happy times. Thank you for uploading this.

Yeah I know what you mean. It's becoming more and more clear that companies like the BBC, Disney, WB and so on own classic shows like this from a bygone era but are embarrassed by them because of how dated they are.
"That was good but we can do better now" is the vibes I'm getting. Probably why everything is being remade these days. Tragic 😥

As a kid, I would have thought of Brucie here being an old man. And I still think he looked quite older than his actual age, he was only 45. The shocking thing is, I think of myself as still being reasonably young, yet I'm not far off his age in this video. I go around thinking I look youthful, but the reality is just beginning to sink in that kids must think I'm old. Time for me to cover up my grey touches, it's a start.

The “plays” were always my favourite part of the Gen Game and this one with Frankie Howard has to be one of the best. I also loved how, for a cheap laugh, Brucie used to introduce this part of the programme by saying “the balls pond road theatre club”… the old dears in the audience used to laugh at that..

Consummate professional and part of a lost generation of entertainers that really learned their craft the hard way; only perfection would satisfy them. I liked the later Bruce even more when he could be almost insulting to the contestants but his lovely personality always shone through and we were reassured that it was all for entertainment value.

I was BORN on Friday 13 April 1973, and had the ultimate privilege of growing up with a host of fantastic all-round entertainers like Brucey, Mike Yarwood, the Two Ronnies, Parkinson, Faith Brown, Benny Hill, Bob Monkhouse...Sadly, today we are being 'entertained' by one trick ponies, like Jack Whitehall and Josh Widdecombe..... Enough said....🙄🙄🙄🥴🥴🥴
