Aligning The Lowrance Active Target Transducer With The Directional Head On A Minnkota Ultrex

- This video demonstrates how I align my Lowrance Active Target transducer so it points the exact same direction as the head of my Minnkota Ultrex. Having a perfect alignment results in maximum precision casting and ease in tracking a lure with the transducer beam.

Just a suggestion- I used an old Evinrude Scout trolling motor and cut off the bad motor head then attached it to the upper shaft of my T motor with 2 Off-Road light rail mounts. It is of course a foot pedal control. It is only about 3 or 5 lbs and works indi from the trolling motor. This is vital when you are trying to steer the T motor and you can maintain or adjust your transducer angle. Especially if using spot lock.

Fished all day yesterday and AT1 was great, went today and the screen was up sloping and the depth seemed to be reading 5’ or so shallower than it was. Thinking I may have Bent the bracket with the cover or when loading the boat.
No other videos mentioned this and I hadn’t seen it before so hoping your video is correct!
Whatever you do, don't bend that bracket because it changes the readout. I bent mine and after that, pointing the transducer to the right always made it look like it was reading uphill. To prevent bending from a boat cover, I keep the tightness of my bracket at a snugness where I can rotate the mount with my hand and point it down and away whenever I put on my boat cover.

You need to bring your trolling motor up a little on the hard rubber brace so it doesn't ride on the mount corner. Motor guide motor cant handle that bouncing on the edge of the storing mount.
Right, I agree. I just launched the boat, idled from shore, and hadn't made that adjustment yet.
Does the height matter when you mount it on the tm shaft
Yes, it does matter. If set too low, the motor housing will partially block the signal. I was told by a Lowrance tech to mount the transducer 6.5 inches or more above the motor housing. If you go too high up the shaft, the transducer will pop out of the water with wave action.
Why Ultrex over Ghost? Is that a Z520L? What year?
I really like my Ultrex.

Yes, but as of now I prefer to not install one. One guy I know who had one, removed it. He was inexperienced with forward sonar and trying to deal with the turret was too complicated. You may have a different experience if you install one.
