    Ive owned a 2017 LE Corolla, a 2020 LE Corolla, and now I love my 2021 Corolla SE. Reliable and actually pretty sexy to look at, while the 169 hp engine with manual transmission is kind of fun.

    • @wtfx5757

      Im on the fence about the manual vs CVT. What made you decide to go with the M/T? I have yet to find a M/T to test drive, but I was happy with the CVT...although the reliability is a concern...I plan to have this things for 10+ years and pass it down to my daughter.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wtfx5757 If your primary concern is reliability and you're not sure if you want to live with a manual for a long time, just go with the CVT. I've read quite a few comments online from owners of the manual saying their transmission failed before 100k miles. Not the clutch, the transmission itself. It's a weird transmission with electronic interventions, not an old-school basic manual.

    Corolla with 1.8L engine = fairly slow, but okay if you are okay with 'slow'.
    Corolla with the 2.0L engine = much faster, much more fun, for just $3,000 more. I would say go for the Corolla SE with the 2.0L engine and you will be so much more happier.

    Had a 2009 XRS that I used to commute when I was a District Manager. Put 200k on it without even blinking. Super reliable. Super blah handling back then even with the bigger 2.4 liter engine and supposed upgraded suspension. Finally seems like they are paying more attention to handling.

      Sedan SE: $22375

      @@t.k.morris Thanks for the response T.K. Currently I am looking at many and at times far too many options for a purchase. With regards to your comments on manual transmissions, it appears that high end trims are too darn expensive. As an example, on some vehicles, turbos are only offered with AWD. Why pay a few thousand $$$s more for something that may not be needed. In addition, Hybrid vehicles may be worth the cost but the cost of what? Minimal power for sure. So, it is difficult finding a vehicle that has power, is a Hybrid and is an automatic (no CVT). My friend purchased a Mazda 3 Hatch which had 9 recalls for 2019. What is that all about? If reliability is on top of my list I may have to go with Toyota. The new Toyota Cross that was introduced in the Thai market recently may come to the States in a year or two. But then again it may be a Hybrid. My feeling about Hybrids is this: If the auto is unable to get 55MPG why purchase? The Hyundai Ioniq shows 55-58 MPG. But at what cost? They are not rolling off the assembly lines for some reason. Maybe I will keep my 2008 Nissan Sentra (155K) and my wife's 2008 Murano (160K) going for as long as I can with minimal expenses.

      @@peterjordan2738 Understood. I am shopping for a new car and have been since earlier this year. The pandemic has kept me away from the dealers but I do a little reading and research almost every day. All manufacturers have way too many recalls now. Some though are simply because of using the same brand air bags and such. It is unfortunate for us buyers. We no longer can count on this year's model being as reliable as the last and sometimes it takes three years or more to discover that a certain model has problems.
      ... I would rather have a naturally aspirated motor with a manual transmission and none of the new tech that will eventually fail and be costly to repair or make my car unable to drive due to the failure of these new technologies. Like start/stop, electronic parking brake, etc.
