    Sounds awesome! Very useable in both the blend and rate knobs.

      It is a great box! Keeley has been killing it with the mod pedals we have checked out.

      Since Eccos I've bought the Super Mod Workstation. Many great effects on that one. Then a Roto Sonic shipped today. Keeley has a great ear and I find treasures in their pedals.

      My first Keeley pedal was the Bubbletron. It's really cool. Next was the ECCOS delay pedal, , it's amazing, I love it. The flanging effect is really cool.

    Nice review of this pedal. I bought one during their third run on the pedal. Every time a batch of these is up on the Keeley site, they sell out in minutes. While some of these types of sounds are in Keeley's Monterey and Dark Side pedals, Keeley's own Sean Spears told me that voicings in the Roto Sonic are unique to the Roto. Also, Mr. Robert Keeley, himself, told me the Vibro-S is their version of a Fender Vibrosonic. Even without rate control via an expression pedal, the Roto Sonic is phenomenal. Each mode on the toggle provides a great new rotary option, and the blend and depth knobs provide so much control from subtle modulation to really lush tones. I use this for both a jazz box and a Reverend Buckshot, and it creates incredible tones for both guitars. Keeley knocked it out the park on this one - as they do on most of their products!. And Keeley's prices are very affordable compared to some other brands, and the Keeley shop's customer service is unmatched in the pedal world.

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on Mark. I agree with everything you said here. Interesting on the Vibrosonic thing. So that Vibro-S is really a harmonic tremolo? Just listened back to it and it reminds me more of the Vibrotone (Leslie 16) than a harmonic tremolo. That said, I have never heard the harmonic tremolo on a Vibrosonic and I certainly wouldn't argue with Robert Keeley. Regardless, it is a really sounding option! The rate control option would be really nice on this pedal, but I agree that it is a great pedal without it.

      @@PJandtheBeard That's a real significant oversight, for what he typically charges for his pedals, just for starters. THAT kind of pedal demands that kind of control options. THAT'S not a "set and forget" kind of pedal. Most modern modulation pedals include those options...

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shkveezer1 the ability to switch between fast and slow speeds is definitely one of my favorite features on a leslie pedal. Although, there are probably players that don’t feel this way. It’s a great sounding pedal if you don’t need that option. If you do, there are a lot of great options out there. We’ve had a two rotary pedals and one tremolo pedal from keeley and they all sound amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that option in the future from them.

    • @Shkveezer1
      @Shkveezer1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PJandtheBeard As an arm's-distance appreciator of the continuing abundance of boutique and non-boutique pedals as they continue to evolve and flood what must be an ever-challenging and competitive market, I would think a guy like Keeley would have been thoughtful enough to include expression options for a device like this, the first time around. It's not like he hasn't issued "univibe" and other kinds of modulation products before and often, in weird combinations. Makes no sense. Sure: "sounds great". "Set and forget"? Not for this kind of device. Really short-sighted.

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shkveezer1 not necessarily disagreeing with you, but there must be a market for it because he keeps selling out of them. Makes me think of all the tremolo pedals we did in the other series. I like tap tempo and all the bells and whistles so many of them had, but there is something special about some of them that were missing that stuff. The hamstead signature trem, Cesar Diaz tremodillo, Origin Effects Revivaltrem, and TL Pedals Tremo jump to mind. No tap tempo or special waveform options, but just a great set and forget tremolo. We are keeping a couple with lots of options... but we are keeping those too. Same with the Leslie pedals. Most of what we kept had the options you mentioned, but this keeley is on the keep shelf right now too. Of course, the channel allows us to keep more than we probably should :)

      Guess it depends on what you’re after. I really liked the rotary and other option though. I would probably spend more time there but the univibe setting is a nice extra for some one not looking for a dedicated vibe pedal.
