I just bought a Yamaha GTS and have watched all your maintenance videos. Thank you very much for them. Have you removed and cleaned the injectors? Do you recommend doing it?
Same clutch as gsx 1100 ef. The inner basket holder can get to loose between the inner stainlessteel aksel mount and the outer aluminum. Over time it will start giving sounds when idling.
I have a question! As any unexperienced diy guy on motorcycle maintenance, as I installed new clutch plates in my GTS1000 I just realized that instead of dipping the new plates in oil before installing I instead used brake fluid (dot4). What I should do now? Can I just drain the oil and change it? or will need to reopen the clutch case and clean the installed plates?? (what dummy am I) 🙄
Hi, after replacing the clutch disks in my GTS1000 when it gets hot slips and clutch lever have no play and it is hard. Do you think the next step is replacing the clutch master cylinder repair kit?
Did you replace friction plates, steel plates and springs? It's not uncommon for clutch to slip if just friction plates were replaced or old weak springs were reused. Slave cylinder can cause issues too so it's worth checking it.
Slave cylinder was rebuilt with new kit also. Out of the bake system just the master cylinder wasn’t repaired. But even the plastic cover with tiny whole and the rubber diaphragm was changed in the master cylinder
@@ancarlosyoussef284 if plates were soaked in oil prior to installation and and all parts were new then maybe error during assembly was made? Nothing else comes to mind tbh.
All disk plates had the same thickness as checked all of them, the slave seemed a very simple job. I can revisit the clutch assembly but I don’t think so
Thanks, your video helped a lot. I am going to do the same. I have a 1993 GTS with 11200 miles on the clock and clutch is slipping. I brought it back after 8 years of storage, everything works except for the clutch when it warms, no play at the lever and I have rebuilt the slave and checked the master cylinder. Last is to do exactly what you did in your vide. Thanks 😃👍🏻
@@ancarlosyoussef284 replacing plates will most probably sort it. Just make sure that you replace friction plates together with steel plates and springs. All those parts are cheap anyway. Replacing just friction plates might still not help with slipping so replace all. Don't ask how i know it😉
One more question I am having a hard time to find the set (clutch friction plates, springs and gasket) What is the specs regularly used from the fzr1000. Do they really fit to the GTS1000?

Tbh i'd pull the plates, wipe them off with a rag and soak in oil for a while.

What's the mileage on your GTS? Is it o.k. on E10 fuel?

Yep, I did replace everything, clutch disks, springs and steel plates.

Why you did go further than just changing the disks?
As i wanted to inspect everything. Discovered some little burrs on the ramps in the basket. Filed it all to smooth surface and things are good.
