The Real Madrid teams of the 1950s and 1960s were formidable, uncompromising, driven, dogged, ruthless and sensational. DiStefano, Gento, Puskas, Kopa, Pachin, Santamaria, Marquitos and they won the first five European Cup titles in a row plus a sixth in 1966 along with nine La Liga titles between 1953-1965, and FIFA named them the team of the 20th Century.

I disagree,Di Stephano was a great player but hi could't do and achieve without the support of the Team!Ironically today we have Messi,and he is above everything,but he and his National team just average.Just can't do it. You should be happy for all the success,but remember this is a team sport,and every player matters when you want to achieve such a stardom.Ferenc Puskas made a huge difference in the success of the team.So,just like to say Puskas was as important as Di Stephano,no regrets.Simply he was the greatest at his time.To go trough ,what he had to do,already is fantastic and something we will cherish for the next hundred years. 1) So? And? Still the most succesful Football club in the world, won 5 European CL in a row.
2) RM had typically 7-8-9 Spaniards in the team (plus, at one point Kopa, French; Rial and Di Stefano, Argentinians; Puskas, Hungarian; and Santamaría, from Uruguay. Btw Di Stefano and Puskas received the Spanish nationality). In the European 1966 CL all were Spaniards.
3) Ramos has 4 CL, same as Santamaría, but Ramos was also scorer of decisive goals (against Bayern in semifinals; and Atletico in min 93).
4) You mention the 1966 World Intercontinental Cup, and that Peñarol won it. How many Intercontinental Cups does Peñarol have in total? Real Madrid has SEVEN INTERCONTINENTAL WORLD CUPS. Facts, not opinions.

Why does it say 54-66 when they only cover until they lost to Barca in 61 even when real got back to the final (62) they still lost to a much better Benfica side.
