Spearfishing Shallow Water Ledges: Mangroves and Cuberas

  • In this video I found some shallow ledges to spear that I call Blue Holes. When I find them they are usually surrounded by shallow water and they drop down a few feet. I've found that they are good holding grounds for a lot of small mangrove snapper, but also some bigger snapper, like cuberas, that use the area as shelter. I was able to find my biggest cubera and got to spear it in the process! #cuberasnapper #mangrovesnapper #shallowwaterspearfishing #spearfishingshallowwaterledges #lastcastadventures

Hah that sideways gangster shot cracked me up dude🤣
Pretty soon you're gonna just leave the pole at home.
    Heck of a cubera dude!

That angle is probably why I missed it😂 it made sense at the time but I don't know why I shot it like that haha. Nah fishing is still better, plus less of a chance of getting bit by sharks. Thanks!

Can’t ever hear the audio when you aren’t doing voice overs Jones! Maybe take the GoPro out of the case when you are out of the water and talking to the camera. Looks fun! Nice cubera!

This is awesome, nice catches man. Adjusting the audio would be cool as I shallow water spear in SoFlo off a Vibe yak too, and really am interested to hear your insight! All around great stuff dude, thanks for your time to compose it!

Thanks! Yes the audio was bad in that one, normally I'm better about it but messed up on that haha. I think the Vibes are great platforms and make it easier to get in and out of, even in deeper water. It's not pretty sometimes but most of my stuff stays pretty secure

Hey man I’m working on getting my gear to start doing it to what Gun are you using

@@manuell1545 I'm using the AB Biller speargun, they start to float once you shoot them so that's pretty nice, easy to keep track of. The length of your gun depends on what fish you are targeting and where. Longer guns for pelagics and fish you can't get as close to, and shorter guns for close quarters situations. AB Biller is a good starter brand and not too expensive

@@lastcastadventuresFL I got my gear for tomorrow brother lol 😂 any spots you recommend, or just anywhere where I see mangroves

@@manuell1545 down in the Keys? South of long key since you can't spearfish north of there. Anywhere that has some current and mangrove undercuts. If you see lots of small mangrove snapper it's worth a shot to look, usually a couple keepers under those areas. And make sure the fish looks 2 inches bigger than legal size, I've found that to help alot with avoiding the undersized fish
