Hi there. I've just come across your channel in the last few days and loving the content. You have answered nearly all my questions and I'm sure the other questions will be answered in the next few clips. Thanks for this great channel. Keep up the great work!
Is bold yellow an oxymoron? I have a MacLaren flat cap that I chose in weathered because it looks better for everyday use, in my opinion. Trews I have in ancient and kilt in modern, with accessories to match both.
So, in all seriousness though, when we register a Tartans and they wanna know our colors do we give them just blue and just red and just a yellow or brown and whatever, or do we give them a colorcode and a specific color name?
I wish on the Tartan designer you can click on something next to the collar and you would have a drop down that would give you the options of their ancient weather in Muted versions.
Don’t let the ladies know that this is the only way the guys know there’s different colors than what’s in the rainbow lol 😂 Wife: I love this pink color Me: you mean light red Wife: ……. Me:….. Wife: I’m killing you in your sleep Me: I know
You can return all of your jeans to the stores you bought them from... wouldn't want to pretend to be an American. 🤣🤣 In all seriousness, most Scots misunderstand what Americans (or ANY diaspora... Australians, Canadians, etc) are trying to accomplish by wearing the kilt and most Americans are bad at articulating their reasons for wearing the kilt. Americans who wear the kilt aren't "pretending to be Scottish". We're wearing them to connect with our family heritage... our own personal story if you will. Are Americans ignorant to the minutiae of the conventions and "rules" of kilt wearing when they first start? Yes. Do we get some things wrong? Absolutely. But so do most Scots the first time they put on a kilt, and they even have guidance from their friends and relatives. Scots living in Scotland are surrounded by their heritage every day and the Scots we've spoken to about it often state that "few Scots actually know or even care about their history." As America is a melting pot / salad bowl mix of many different cultures, we like to explore and celebrate the cultures of our ancestors. Often times, that includes the food, music and clothing of those countries, be they Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Mexico or anywhere else in the world. It's foolish to dismiss and insult those who love Scottish culture and lift it up for others to see. Instead, raise a pint with us and drink to Scotland.

Dang it! I don't have a kilt in an ancient palette. Back to my list of kilts needed!
I first saw the weathered black watch about 4 years ago and fell in love with it. This is a neat explanation
I hope all of you folks at USAKilts had a great Christmas/ Yule. And I'd like to wish you all and very Happy and safe New Year!
the Campbells are coming
I stumbled across this channel by chance and bought a kilt the day after
What about Hunting tartans?
Hunting tartans are a wholly different thing. They are a different tartan entirely, not just a shift in color palette.
Love the Modern! Grade school uniform.
Anyone. What color pallet is Cavan County tartan?
Is bold yellow an oxymoron?

What tartan are you showing for Wilson's of Bannockburn colors?
"Stewart Old" 13 oz from Strathmore

Americans pretending to be Scottish really amuses people here.

Ok, they aren't true Scots like Humza McYousaf, but the ancestry is still there. 😉
