- The unique traditions at college football stadiums across the nation are one of things that makes the sport so special to so many fanbases.
At the University of Oregon, Ducks fans spend the break between the third and fourth quarters of every home game singing and dancing along to "Shout" by Otis Day and the Knights.
It's more than just a catchy song. It came to fame in the comedy classic "Animal House" which was filmed on campus at Oregon. Now, the tradition continues after the third quarter of every home game at Autzen Stadium.

Ima Buckeye fan through and through and was lucky enough to attend this game… Let me tell you.. I wanted to have that frown on my face this whole “shout” routine but halfway thru my ass was singing !!! A little bit louder now !!!!
lmao, this made me smile. SCO DUCKS!
Glad you enjoyed it. Fun is fun no matter who you root for. GO DUCKS
Shout is infectious! Impossible to not get involved in something that fun. 😅😅😅
Better than “jump around” in Madison?
@@bobashley7533 Maaaan that’s another legendary one !!! Haven’t been in person tho!!
i was raised on Buckeye football growing up in NW Ohio. Attended countless games at The Shoe as a kid and later a student. Graduated from OSU in 94 and moved to Eugene that fall. I'll always be a Buckeye to the core but I'd be lying if I said I wasnt thoroughly impressed as a college football fan watching the home team and its fan base grow and succeed to what it is today. Well done Ducks. Go Bucks
Oregon a small school on the Rise baby!
Wow, you’ve seen the glory days of Oregon from the start with Gang Green in ‘94 until now. Good for you! I had to endure many decades of mostly misery prior to that. But now it is all worth it! The Ducks are near the top and will summit soon. Maybe they can stay there like Ohio State has for so long.
So you're also able to attest that Oregon isn't equal to Portland. I've lived in both places. I like both but Eugene is a college town and now purple voting blocks. I wish Portland was more purple but for the most part of you like the outdoors including the coast, mountains and countless waterfalls. 90 minutes from Portland to The Coast of the mountain. In Eugene 40 minutes to skiing or summer hiking and 1:40 minutes to the Oregon Dunes at the coast. Well East of the mountains of Oregon or Washington is like a different country or State excuse me. I totally understand Idaho called The Greater Idaho movement. Damn cost of living and $4.75 gas when the rest of the country is all the way down to $3. Y'all better be happy you live closer to the Mississippi River because oil doesn't travel around The Rockies as easily and average cost of home for 3 bedrooms is 650k. 😮😅😮
The beauty of college football
Let’s go! That was a magical Shout for all of us in Autzen on Saturday. Hope we see you guys again in Indy. Maybe we can give the college football world another masterpiece.
Much love to bucks fans. Ya’ll travel the best Autzen has maybe ever seen. Go 🦆 see ya’ll in the ship
@@Bentzema looking forward to it good luck the rest of the season go Bucks
Much respect to Ohio St, what a hard fought game!
Reading all the comments on this thread between different fan bases gives me hope for humanity 🙌🏼
Give it a few years! lol
Awesome!!! College Football !!!!
*Animal House (1978),* filmed at the U of Oregon.
_"Shout,"_ very fitting.
I'm a Terrapin who now lives in the Eugene area. My son is a Duck and we've been fans for years. For the Bucks fans, you have one hell of a team. And I agree with another poster, you are the best traveled fans I've seen at Autzen. USC doesn't travel this well and they're in our time zone. I assess our opponents' fans by who participates in Shout and who doesn't. You didn't go as hard as Michigan State or Boise State, but you also didn't stand there with your hands in your pockets frowning like UCLA. Good for you! Have some damn fun. And for any Terps fans out there, this is what engaged fanbases look like. Oregon got more attendance for our spring game than Maryland got for last Friday's game against Northwestern. SCO DUCKS!
I do the same about opposing fan bases. The 3 people right next to me were Buckeyes (and LOVELY) and I told them, hey - Shout is a stadium thing, not a fan base thing. Be sure to dance and sing! They started out doing it but then I think they saw other Buckeyes not dancing and got a bit shamed and stopped dancing. I was sad for them.
Best tradition in football
So just to clarify, Shout is the song from the Animal House movie which was filmed there.
Respect to y’all being willing to upload this after such a gut punch of a loss, especially with how anti-climactic it was.
I’ve had season tickets for over a decade and never miss a home game. You guys travel better than any team I’ve ever seen. I’m surprised it was as loud as it was considering how much red was around. Only team that was close was BYU a couple years ago.
Awesome as always thanks guys go bucks
This is an impressive video. It gives one a 3-D impression of what it is like to be there.
Sco!!!🦆🦆🦆🦆
Does the Horseshoe have something like Shout at their games? I've only ever been to Autzen Stadium for CFB games, so I don't really have anything else to compare it to. It's always a good time with lots of energy from the crowd, but Saturday Oct. 12th 2024 was electric.
I love U of O! Oregon is the best!🦆
Go DUCKS
Had no idea Oregon does SHOUT as a tradition - is this every game? Hasn’t gotten the tv coverage like other traditions across CFB and the B1G - mid program only succeeding because of Nike owner but I enjoyed it til this year 😎
Every game indeed! We also have the best mascot in sports and greatest fans! Good game OSU and I hope we see you in Indy
Only makes sense since the song was featured in the movie Animal House which was filmed in Eugene on the UO campus.
Go bless the ducks man 🦆
Wow 😲
Many Purdue fans love the traditional “I am an American” which I always thought to be corny as hell.
Penn State does "Sweet Caroline". Also corny as hell.
Bills and Ducks love to shout!
Oregon stuck in the 60's. Let these people travel!
Hardly
Some things are timeless.
@mm - Copium. Ohio got beaten by an anachronistic hippie, choke on that.
@20luzer52 Don't pleasure yourself too willingly. The only team to defeat Ohio State was itself.
@@mm.f262 could very easily say Oregon left at least 10 points off the board so there’s that
