I really liked the MC in game and now I like her even more because of the song. [Spoilers Ahead] It seems that she's a really troubled person and has a lot of behavioral issues seeing how she trespasses, engages in pointless violence/risky behavior, kills without remorse, and struggles to manage anger. These were probably caused by previous hardships in her life that shaped her personality/behavior. The MC finds comfort in darkness and becomes attached to the people she meets in the Otherworld although she has only known them for a short time. In a couple endings she even regrets going back to the "real world," so if she misses the Otherworld so much that means she probably didn't have any friends/family in her world, or at least any that she cared about/would regret leaving behind. Putting this information together from the game and in this song we can then assume that the MC is a really lonely person that cannot be her true self in the "real world." The title of the song "Gray Rain" could be refering to a state of normality. Gray is the color in between white and black which typically symbolize "good" and "bad." MC's life in the "real world" is neither "paradise" nor "hell" it is just normal. MC wishes for something better but she just lives a normal life now. Gray could also represent "confusion/being in between two choices" since she is unsure if she made the right choice in returning. Even though she has made it back, at the end of the song she says "you're no longer there" clearly she misses someone (probably Mr. Crawling but maybe someone else?).
We need more MC background tbh, so far it's only a crumb and players theorize her 🤔 But, I agree with your point. If this song is for MC, that means MC is broken, beyond broken already 😭 To the point she thinks those apparent are normal and she's fine being those apparent liking her.
