  • I received a box of Mitsubishi Unistar pencils as part of a secret Santa at work. Needless to say, I love them. A little too expensive for everyday use, unfortunately.

    Gorgeous pencils! Enjoy them!
If I remember correctly, the uni pencil lineup has the uni star at the “low end”, then the regular uni, then finally the Hi-uni as their highest-quality offering.
I have the Hi-uni in 2B as my favorite pencil ever, but I haven’t tried the “lower-end” unis yet - from what I’ve been told, it’s difficult to tell them apart because they’re all incredibly smooth and well-made! 😺
Also worth trying: Tombow Mono 100. 🙀

I have all from Hi-Uni pencils and 3 from Uni Star ⭐️ pencils they are gorgeous. Highest quality for all round purpose well for me drawing and writing. Love them! I will soon get the cheap series from Uni on the weeks to come just to collect them and draw with them 🥰😍💗💘🫠. Base on all the data I collected from many artist and other well known or not know channels. I can tell for certain Mitsubishi’s range of pencils from low to high end pencils are half or quasi comprable to Faber Castell (little hard but still little smooth and the 9000 series are tent to last 2 or 3 time at the rate of usage by each sharpening the point lead) as for the STAEDTLER Lumo graph range of grade pencils only are on part but different on their formula kind of like rivals but more dark tone… some statements from what I found out starting at 6b and above has other ingredient added to look darker than the common graphite, both brands Faber Castell and Staedtler are German brand. so the best answer for the Mitsubishi pencils to compare German brand quality are both at the same time, I don’t know what materials from staedtler pencils from 6b to 12b are made of reasonable logic could be carbon but besides the graphite both are phenomenal job. I hope to try out the Caran d’Ache graphite pencils. They say are way better than the derwent (derwent even on the “B” are not that hard but still superior than the faber Castell in term on hardness which is not good for paper if pressure wrong) each but I want to obtain both to test them and compare with the current ones I have and get also the German’s other brand Lyra. Gosh 🥰I’m in love with art Supplies I want to enjoy the wonders of art in this life. 🫠

6:23 Pangram is I think the word you are looking for. The one you've used here is usually rendered "The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog." But your way works, too.
My favorite: "Sphinx of black quartz: judge my vow!"
You make a vlog about pencils, and I'll subscribe ten times out of ten.
Those look like terrific pencils. Japanese pencils are definitely tops in quality and in darkness & smoothness.

I have Tombow Mono drafting pencils (2B, HB, 2H) (Not Mono 100). The 2B is very smooth, the HB is a bit less smooth. Haven't tried the 2H. I guess the Tombows are comparable to these Uni Star, the Uni is more expensive here to get. Thank you.

I have noticed that the harder the lead, the less smooth they seem to be. It must be all the clay.
