    Yeah in my years of field hockey I think these are the basics:
    1. If you are supported by other defenders so that you’re not alone defending, alwaysss always put a lot of pressure on the attacker without like hitting their stick. Just kinda like stay in place and when the right moments there, you just scoop the ball away from the attacker.
    2. If there’s a 1 v 2 stop looking at the ball and focus on the player that’s behind you. Keep your distance from the attacker who has the ball and really stay in between the two players so that you won’t get outplayed.
    3. And this counts for a lot of players, if you’re too exhausted you’re either doing something wrong or you don’t have basic stamina. Now of course you need to run a lot but when you’re too exhausted you’re doing to much and you’re focusing too much on the ball. Look for opportunities to get the ball from the attacker, or if you are the attacker look for teammates and outplay the other team even if you’re with lesser people

    Okay so I'm currently in 11th grade and I haven't played hockey since 5th grade and I have a very important gane tomorrow because I agreed to fill in for an injured player. I have to plat defense and I can't remember shit. I've never been this scared in my life. I hate disappointing people and I have to learn everything ASAP!!!!

    Hi crown, on a side note For your new ultra lightweight grip do you put it over an existing silicone backed grip or on its own. Cheers

    • @CrownHockey
      @CrownHockey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Piers, the ultra lightweight grip is designed to be stuck on its own as it has it's own adhesive backing - the same as the silicone-backed grip. We hope this helps!

    • @karthikeyanari8252
      @karthikeyanari8252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just wait for right moment don't try to catch the ball coz attacker might turn around and you would loose direction and dont stay too close just make sure he doesn't pass you

    • @oneindigegaming8637

      Stay in front of them, that way they can’t pass you, tackle if they make a mistake

    I have a question: when we defence the attacker he try to hit the ball to our body to get foul
    Then how we defend it?

    • @CrownHockey
      @CrownHockey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I'm Evan (The person with a grey jumper within the video) multiple times within this video I try to push the ball at Eddie's feet, but it was difficult. He keeps low and always has his stick between the ball and his body. When I turn the ball into him he is ready to block it with his stick already in a good position to do so. Also, he is always moving his feet, being able to change direction, to run in the direct the ball his moving whilst direct the attacker to where he want them to go. Eddie explains this very well in this video: th-cam.com/video/-gK8Ko2VCt4/w-d-xo.html However, defending against someone who is trying to hit your foot when you are in the D is a very different skill. When in the D please pay attention to the tips that are explained within this video: th-cam.com/video/fkXnoVLSjhM/w-d-xo.html

    Encouraging counter attack defence via deliberate kicking of the ball, stick checking etc. Sorry, but not cool.

    • @CrownHockey
      @CrownHockey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You never deliberately commit fouls, I think the point Eddie was attempting to explain was: As a last resort it is okay to go for risker tackles where you are less likely to win the ball (So you are more likely to commit fouls accidently). It is also a good idea to become a difficult target for the opposition to go through, make them work around you, don't make it easy for them to run through you. If the opposition run into you or hit the ball at your feet that is often better than letting them run past/through you, get your body and feet in the way of their run and make them work harder. This is at least how we interpreted the Last resort point. Thank you for the comment, Maybe we should film a video about last resort, or two vs one defending 🤔 😏

    My friend introduced me to this odd technique that he proposed, what if we just kick the stick of the opponent out of the way of the ball so we can get the ball? I'm wondering if that's even allowed

    sorry but i aint paying $800 for two sticks to pkay with a friend

    • @CrownHockey
      @CrownHockey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At the beginning of Crown, we had a decision to make about the prices of our sticks, we could have increased the prices to make room for a margin to give discounts or mass sponsorships or give away the occasional free sticks, or we could price them as cheaply as we could (even though our quality is higher). We choose to price them as low as we feasible could so that everyone gets the same price.... It seemed like the direction that was the most fair, as we wanted more players to play with Crown sticks. I hope that you understand our thinking.
