Our Rewarewa Honey has won the Grand First Prize Winner of the 10th Black Jar International Honey Tasting Contest and is deemed for now to be 'The Best Tasting Honey in the World". Two other honeys from Manawa also made the finals - Tāwari Honey and Pua-ā-Tāne Wild Forest Honey. Overall, a great achievement for a range of honeys from the same producer.
The Black Jar International Honey Tasting Contest is held annually in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, and attracts hundreds of entries every year from all over the world. The contest is the only international contest to focus solely on taste and uses a carefully designed ‘blind’ tasting process, using ‘black jars’ so that factors of colour or appearance do not affect judging.
Manawa Honey NZ is based in Ruatāhuna, New Zealand and specialises in producing exquisite native honeys from the untouched forests of Te Urewera - homeland of the tribe Tūhoe. Their range of honeys includes Rewarewa, Mānuka, Tāwari and Pua-ā-Tāne.
