Bet that gives you piece of mind now it’s sorted, nothing worse than having a van that makes you worried when driving, brilliant to find someone so trust worthy.😊
Thanks for this video John… I have also been stumped by my 19 plate Fiat Ducato loss of power during low revs. I don’t have adblue or had any warning lights on the dash, but the loss of power usually comes at a critical moment… I’ve not had a remap but it’s been on my list for ages, so after watching this I think it might be a good idea to check it out. I’m not a million miles away from the guy who’s done yours so may give him a call soon. Thanks 👍
Different engine in the fiat Ducato, generally xxxmore robust than the Citroen/Peugeot engine. But they do suffer from sticking turbo wastegate, but usually on vans that get little use (eg motorhomes in storage),
Hey John, great result mate, pleased for you. We got an adblue delete last year. The adblue tank was full however and when we took the van to Europe it began to stink in the heat so i drained it out and smell disappeared. Just an idea in case yours is full of the pigs urine too!😁 There is a drain plug thats easily accessible.
Hi John. Greetings to both you and Mandy, good to see how she is picking up you are doing a great job. Quick question, where do you get your flag stickers on the back doors? I am struggling to find a decent quality all the same size set. Thanks heaps, hope you are back on the road soon. Sarah
That's good news John. I've been looking for someone to remap our 2.2 Boxer that is recommended and trustworthy. I have emailed them as we are near Leeds so not far away. Cheers
A quick Google search going through the names waiting for a Vauxhall related model…..ahhh there they are! Glad you got it sorted, what was the map doing that caused the issue, incorrect amount of fuel at that rev range?
More great info shared , thanks , one to look out for , had an eml on recently , thankfully the van was under warranty. I will be sure to browse your other clips . Thanks again great info , Ps ,,, do you have any on the fitting of your bull bar ? I’m having problems fitting mine
Hi John, glad it's hopefully sorted now🤞. I read a lot of the comments on the last post about Carly. I use the AlfaOBD for my 2018 Ducato, it only works once after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery though. I think this is possibly due to the security gateway Fiat added in 2018. I'd be interested in knowing what year your van is? Cheers Rich
Glad you got it sorted. I wonder if the (old) remap was okay on a non-AdBlue vehicle? At my brothers work half of their fleet of straddle cranes have AdBlue, they are nothing but trouble, fault code bingo specials - same engine, just the AdBlue different.
@@GadgetJohn Hope so. I know roughly how it works and that it shouldn't affect the engine at all, but it seems it is in a lot of cases. Not sure if its due to the ECUs being too smart or not smart enough - or the engine ECU needs to be different with AdBlue? At the Port they have a special Burn programme to run via a Laptop that gets the engine revving high to clear out the exhaust - as the straddle Cranes plod around at low speed and revs all the time. I think the AdBlue is what I'd call a Dis-Improvement.
Hi John great news on the van fix. Can I ask a question:- do you think it was your previous remap ? and if you didn’t get it done before do you think it would have had the problem
AD-blue errors on my Peugeot 1,6HDi was diagnosed at a third party and they came up with the conclusion that nothing was faulty expect Stelantis buggy engine controlling software. One engine control software update later at the dealership everything works fine again. I assume a lot of ad blue deletes are done due to this which is a shame for the environment if it is just a (free) bug fix away from working.
Your posts are so helpful x will be buying that diagnostic meter it’s just nice to know just what’s happening under the bonnet x so glad you are a happy bunny with your new tracking x think that maybe something for the future x
The garage next to the remap place tested the emissions afterwards & said it was the same reading as the reading on my previous mot. So I have no idea why it’s there at all.
I did mention it could be the the remap on your last video John, but obviously I meant take it back to original company not knowing they are “John Wayne” types
They are well renowned around Barnsley...and car enthusiasts in general... for doing 💩 remaps! I know a Tech that was constantly being called out by them to put right their mistakes... "bricked" ECU's being the main one because of the totally 💩 remaps they use! There's also been quite a few reports locally of blown up engines as well....mainly the boy racers wanting a balls out smoke and power overfuelling "remap"....which sounds like the map they put on yours....all top end with very little midrage! At least you found someone who knows what he's doing, and an increase in power midrange, is more suitable for a van. 👍
Did J say that his new 180hp remap feels less powerful than the old? The old map must have been > 200hp. I have the 160hp standard map and I would never think it needed more power.
Great news John, that's a win, and absolutely one thing you could do without just now, or anytime but its sorted. So, was the previous remap a recent thing, or did this fault develop out of the blue some time later? I've had no personal dealings with mapping engines, though I've seen it on TV etc, and so ever curious, how long did it take for this fault to show? I'd have thought it would have been lurking there from the start of the first remap. Clearly the new guy recognised the problem so did he explain what was going on? It's just interesting to understand, but anyway, I'm really pleased its sorted for you. Take care, and thanks for the update. 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦
The fault with the remap was always there, but I just didn’t realise what was going on until I started to drive the same roads each day, and through rush hour traffic. Vanlife doesn’t normally force you to drive to the traffic flow, but rush hour traffic does and that’s why I’d not fully worked out what was going on.
The engine as standard produces 97 hp, the manufacturer then adjusts the output depending on the vehicle the engine is fitted to, in my case the 130 hp based on a 3.5t van but my van only weighs 2.9t so adding 50 hp doesn’t meant I’m adding additional stress to my van. It’s worth researching Remap’s & original engine design tolerances, you’ll see every engine is designed to be adjusted this way.
Remaps are risky. If they worked, the manufacturer would offer it. ie Volvo with their Polestar remap. I think you’ll find remapping invalidates your insurance
You made the old map sound a bit cavalier. Good to hear you have it all nova now.
🤭🤣
@@Pugwash. hope it wasn’t too astra nomical to fix 😂😂🥁🎉

Definitely a Victor-y by a company of higher Calibre
Oh this thread is my favourite 😎💪👍🏻
You have just met a great guy who knows his job 😉 he's done both my vans
“Happy motoring” are two words that go wonderfully together.

well done John... good result. Safe travels👍
Thanks, you too!
Great fix, great video John
Glad you enjoyed it
@@GadgetJohn yep! Betty got remapped a few months ago but seems to have dropped off somewhat! The video made me think i need to get back in touch 👍

Glad to hear it’s fix John you said not as much power now ? So have that drop the power but better fuel
Hi John thanks for sharing your thoughts I am based in Scotland so I will be asking around for a company that does remaping hope I am as lucky as you.
Yes, I noticed a slight drop in power but a much better mpg
Nice one John glad you got it sorted.
Glad you got it sorted, mate. It wasn’t the injectors after all.
good see you fix it and trave can start soon thank four the vid on travels
A quick Google search going through the names waiting for a Vauxhall related model…..ahhh there they are! Glad you got it sorted, what was the map doing that caused the issue, incorrect amount of fuel at that rev range?
The fuel pressure amounts were all wrong so they said, there was just no real design to smooth power delivery, it was setup to be all or nothing.

Random I know but I had a lovely Carlton GSI 24V.
Nice lotus ones too
I have driven one of the old Vauxhalls you speak of, it was slow and uncomfortable.
The model with the 3ltr engine gave it some oomph, no not the Senator.
Glad you got it sorted. I wonder if the (old) remap was okay on a non-AdBlue vehicle? At my brothers work half of their fleet of straddle cranes have AdBlue, they are nothing but trouble, fault code bingo specials - same engine, just the AdBlue different.
The adblue is a process applied post combustion, just a liquid spray injected into the exhaust, so the remap wouldn’t be affected by it.
@@GadgetJohn Hope so. I know roughly how it works and that it shouldn't affect the engine at all, but it seems it is in a lot of cases. How does adblue delete effect mot emissions?
The emission readings will change very little still well within test limits
The garage next to the remap place tested the emissions afterwards & said it was the same reading as the reading on my previous mot. So I have no idea why it’s there at all.

Try vauxhall carlton maybe.
I couldn’t say 🤭
Do a search for Carlton and Remaps in Barnsley. You might find the answer
How much HP did you had before then? 180hp is pretty good ha
The engine as standard is 130
@@GadgetJohn Thats a pretty good upgrade too

Right, that figures. Great that it's fixed. Cheers 👋
Was it much extra for your insurance? Adrian Flux are quoting me £100 for 10% increase in power and waaay more than that for a standard remap!
AF are just a rip off. My policy already had the old remap included and it wasn’t more than my old Moho cover.
@@GadgetJohn I'm struggling to get any other cover other than AF - I use my van for business use so limited in who will insure
John who do you use for insurance?
P0093 is fuel pressure related so if it wasn't a part at fault it must have been corrupt data on the old map,👍
Not corrupt data but the wrong data it seems.
I guess you won't know if its 180 unless you put it on a RR
That’s true, but I’m just happy it works and the power is so much nicer to use.
Or don't remap at all it is a van carrying a fair old weigh all said and done

Manufacturers do offer them, why do you think you get a fiat camper with a 2.3 engine with 130 or 150?
Remapping not necessarily, some are happy to provide cover. EGR delete probably.
