Yes, I tried to include all the steps needed to get a fully working system. Many of the previous video guides for these HP 8300s on TH-cam were incomplete and inaccurate. I wanted to make it possible for anyone to own a fully working Hackintosh.
Hi there, thank you very much for your shared video. I could install High Sierra following your instructions. I have a question, should I update BIOS 02.99 to the newest 03.08?
You can do that if you want all the security patches for the Intel exploits. Spectre and Meltdown are the main ones. It's your choice. Not mandatory to update the BIOS.
Will the GT 210 video card work the same as the other video cards you mention in a hackintosh install? For someone who is not going to do anything graphical beyond watching movies and youtube, will it be sufficient? Thanks.
Yes, it's going to work well for watching content. It will only work with macOS versions up to High Sierra. No support for it in Mojave. Just stay on High Sierra if you want to use it.
So I have a HP 6300 SFF, it has an i5-3570. I also have a 750 Ti and I know that it's not supported by Mac OS. Can I still use the integrated HD 2500 graphics to output video ?
I've never been able to get HD2500 fully working so I wouldn't rely on that for graphics. You can install High Sierra and then the Nvidia web drivers and it works. See how to do that in the video. The 750 Ti works well in High Sierra. Doesn't work in Mojave or Catalina due to lack of drivers.
Everything works except onboard NIC (which actually works during install, but not after). I don't think its the IntelMausiEthernet driver (I've now tried adding/removing several times) and the hardware is fine because it works in Windows.
I figured out how to fix this. Hope this helps some crazed soul that can't get his/her networking working. Using Clover configurator I copied he intelmausi kext from the hidden EFI partition, in /Clover/kexts/Other folder on the Unibeast USB boot drive to the same spot on the boot drive. Got my netz back!
I wonder if you could give a bit more advice on video cards for video editing on the hackintosh. You recommend the GT 710, 1030, GTX 1050 and 1050ti. I've seen a lot of comments on line about the GTX 750ti being a much better performer for the money, but I assume it's not mac compatible? What are the video editing limitations of the lower priced cards like the 710 and 1030 - will you be able to edit 4K, HD? I'm not as worried with rendering being slow as I am about laggy timeline performance. Also, until the video card comes (and with the i5 cpu that lacks Intel HD 3000 graphics), will I get sufficient output from the display port or VGA to be able to set up the mac, or will it be a blank screen? Thanks.
Right now the best choice for a video editing card is the MSI RX560 low profile. You would use the DisplayPort output to your monitor, not VGA. The 560 is natively supported by High Sierra 10.13.4 or newer. If you use iMovie or Final Cut Pro you definitely want to get an AMD card. I've seen it selling at Newegg for about $110 recently. Have a look there if you are in the US or UK. If you are using an i5 that doesn't have HD3000 or HD4000 then it will be difficult to install macOS. Wait until you get your graphics card, then try the install. You could use Windows until then.
I was speaking of the RX560 which does have a displayport output. If you want to use a 4K monitor DP is the best way to connect it. If you try to use DP from the motherboard via the HD4000 graphics it won't work. The highest resolution HD4000 will give you is 2560 x 1440p not 4K. macOS does not support HDMI 2.0 so it's not a good choice to use that output from a card like the RX560. It won't give you 4K at 60Hz.
I took your advice and ordered the RX560 from Newegg to go along with the HP 6300 with i5 that I got for a very low price. The video card cost twice as much as the whole computer! Video cards and memory are expensive these days. My goal is to set this up for my daughter who is starting her second year of art school and will be using the Adobe suite in her classes. I installed windows 10 on it today and it runs great - fast and quiet. Do you have advice on a budget monitor that would be good for a graphics art student? I don't think I can justify the cost of a 4K monitor, so probably 1080 will have to be good enough for the time being. Thanks for your help!
This one from HP is a good IPS budget monitor for only $89.00 It's about 22 inches wide but has plenty of screen real estate if you sit close to it. www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-HDMI-Monitor/dp/B015WCV70W/

I have a CMT and 2 SFF 8300. Didn't follow this tutorial, but I noticed that "install' only worked on the CMT, tried the SFF but nothing. I did discover that a HD with OSX installed on the CMT, could be transferred to the SFF no problem. Weird. Let me know if you need help.
The RX560s from MSI and some other companies are now compatible with 10.13.4 or higher. The LP version can be used in the SFF 8300. The full height versions in the 8300 Mini-Tower. The RX570 will not work because it needs 6 pin power from the PSU which the HP PSU doesn't have.
Would I need to upgrade my BIOS version v02.90? The guide at TonyMacx46 says that updating updating is necessary if the BIOS is older than vs02.83. Just trying to get away without flashing...
Whenever I try to boot off the USB it freezes at "End RandomSeed ++++++++++". I've tried multiple different USB drives and none of them work. I can't find any information about it, do you know what could be causing this?
Copy the config.plist from the EFI partition of the installer. Delete the one on the HDD's EFI folder on that partition and then drag and drop the copy to the HDD's EFI Folder on that boot drive. Use EFI mounter V3 or Clover Configurator to mount EFI.
Not this HP 8300 video. You could try following the 8200 video guide but I have never tested one of the 8100s to know if it works or not. Make sure you've got a compatible graphics card like the GT 710 as the 8100 CPUs don't have compatible Intel graphics.

Hi There, The video says to update HP BIOS to v 02.99, but I have found in the hp drivers web page that there is also an updated BIOS version 03.07. Should I update to v 02.99 or v 03.07? Thanks in advance
You must update to 2.99 first, according to HP. After that is done, then you can update to 3.07. It won't work if you try to skip 2.99 and install 3.07 first.

Yes, once you run Multibeast and install the ethernet kext that will work. There is no built in wifi module. You can add one via the PCIe x1 slot on the motherboard if you need wifi. Some macOS compatible USB dongles will also work.
