content like this makes me more comfortable with the idea of buying a second hand Rolex at a cheaper price than buying a brand new unworn one even if it came with papers. obviously over time its going to have wear and tear so it will never look as it did brand new. however if i can have it restored to as close to its original condition as possible then ill be more than satisfied. thanks!
Polishing is option however we recommend that you do it as infrequently as possible. Good polishers remove a very small amount of metal in an effort to maintain the original case shape the best they can. As you can see, the watch comes back looking great!
Being a watchmaker and polisher myself having worked at rolex I can say he did do a good job there are some things he could do that would make the job faster and have the same results but as long the result at the end is the same who really cares as a customer how you got there as long as it looks the same
Hello, good afternoon, excuse me, what do you use to finish the box? from minute 5:12 to 5:26 is it the final finish? Greetings, I'm from Mexico Thanks in advance
Do you happen to know if polishing the fluted bezel is standard procedure at a RSC? I believe RSC doesn’t offer recutting, they’ll only replace the bezel. One recut video I saw seemed to take off a noticeable amount of material. Based on those assumptions my preference would be to polish everything but leave the fluted bezel alone until it is really worn.
Such a great watch 😅 chills me right out. Beautiful time piece, what a great job, looks amazing! Did not expect the pressure test to be 9.8 bar, basically the full 100m. With an old watch. I’ve seen some videos where they hardly test it at all, maybe 20m or so. Good stuff! 👍 I’d love to see someone test a new submariner to 600m or to destruction, see how deep it can actually go.
What is the name of that grinding wheel that you used at the beginning of the polishing process, to polish the bracelet. Where can I buy it and what is its name?
Hello, how are you? First, I would like to thank you for the video. I have a question, please. I am very impressed with the base of the screwdrivers and tweezers that you use. Can you tell me where you got them from? Thank you very much, mhd samer from Algeria
Awesome video. Great skills. Where can I find your bench tool organizer? I am referring to the organizer that holds your screw drivers and other tools. It can be seen starting at 10 minutes into the video. Thanks.
Great Video and very time consuming and skilled. Personally, I like 3M 9 and 7 wheels for rough linishing prior to polishing wheel (mopping). Using a shaped stone is good but will never beat Trizac to take off deep scratches on contoured services like lugs. Not a watch maker but make medical Implants in 316LVM with 20 years of experience. Would love to try electro-polishing a bracelet and finish with ceramic beads for a light satin finish. That being said, great job and the desired result.
Thanks for your kind words and for sharing your insight. I'm always interested to learn how other industries approach similar tasks, I'm sure a lot can be learnt from the medical implant industry. If you have the time it would be fascinating to discuss this in more detail - Our Watch Polisher
@@Watchtrader A great reply. We are all still learning this craft and happy to share with such talent. How do I contact? I can give you ideas on using porceline and the Bible -amps/weight/times for EP if you fancy expanding your procedures and keeping your fingerprints. You have crazy skills and very unappreciated.
Great video and have come to really appreciate watch polishing and am thinking about trying my hand at it. Two things, there must be a better way at tackling the fluted bezel. I’ve seen so many aging bezels with smooth edging from polishing in the manner found in this video. Not saying it’s wrong because obviously you’re the expert and it’s just an observation on my end so I hope you are not offended by my comment. Finally, I had my Explorer sent off to get the movement serviced by Rolex and when it came back there was dust inside the dial area. I feel as though those clay tools that pick up small debris wasn’t used in my service otherwise I wouldn’t have had debris on my dial. Hopefully you never encounter a customer like me because I go crazy over dust especially if it wasn’t there to begin with. Cheers and continue your great videos!
Hi Marvin, good spot. You can only really be careful to minimise the smoothing of the edges when lightly polishing the fluted bezel. It is also possible to use a specialist tool to re-cut the bezel and bring it back to its original finish too.
I am sure some male thot is going to tell us why this guy had done a terrible job, but this was probably the video I have no doubt nerded out the most on in 2021 and yes that includes those other short videos 😳 thx guys
Nice vid but the polish is so so. Corners still rough, lugs (front and back) still pitted etc. Not entirely up to standard but all depends on the price off course.
Hi Al, we're currently working to resolve a technical issue with it. Please feel free to contact us via email, head to the website or call the shop if you need to get in touch. Thank you
i cannot imagine polishing a watch........ not only does it greatly reduce the value.. but you're also scraping away the precious metals on the watch......... to each their own.. but i never understood it myself
One of the most satisfying things I’ve ever watched
Glad to hear it Martijn
Reminds me of that scene from Toy Story when the old man comes in to restore woody.
Sssssss
11 minutes of excellence. loved that guys.
just watched it again...so good
Glad to hear it Gary, appreciate the feedback
So good seeing content like this, as well as the day to day videos. The hand finishing on the lugs and case-back is incredible.
Appreciate the feedback Theo
@@Watchtrader How much does a polish like this cost on average?
I've watched this 3 times already.
Thanks

Good job Cameron, nice work. I look forward to seeing more of your work...
Thanks for tuning in Vinny

Thanks for watching the videos 👊 will let the watch polisher know
Great content lads, from a very amateur (and very part time) watch dealer the videos are excellent, informative, - great stuff
And also a Geordie BTW !
Much appreciated Chris

Wow, not much more to say. amazing what can be done.
Thanks for watching Mark
The quality of this video is unreal 🙌🏼👏🏼
Thanks a lot Phil. Hope you're all good 👊
Brilliant video! Genuinely interesting! Thank you
Appreciate it Ben
What tool did you use from 5:12 to 5:25?
Does someone Know what exactly he is using in 5:13 for the Lugs? Any Help would be great!
That was so satisfying to watch
Cheers Azby
Great video thank you. At 2:40 most use a plastic bag in between to prevent damage, is there any merit to that?
Hello, good afternoon, excuse me, what do you use to finish the box? from minute 5:12 to 5:26 is it the final finish? Greetings, I'm from Mexico Thanks in advance
Great Job only problem is buffing the fluted bezel with the polish wheel big No no that bezel needs to be recut with a special tool not a polish wheel
Thanks Anthony. Yes but we only recut bezels if specifically asked as it’s a specialist procedure that has extra cost. It’s up to the customer

Amazing job guys 👌🏾👌🏾
Thank you 🙌
A Fine Job!- You added something to the case tube threads during the reassembly procedure what was that? Was it lubricant or some sort of sealant?
What is the name of that grinding wheel that you used at the beginning of the polishing process, to polish the bracelet. Where can I buy it and what is its name?
Well done but there is concern about the way the bezel was done. I would not want the bezel fluted points ground down. Thanks
Cracking video mate !
Glad you enjoyed it
What is the material called that was used to brush the steel of the back cover in the middle?
hey where did u get those springbar tweezers? cool
Great video 🔥
