    A 3 1/2” model 27 to me lends it self to a private eye in the 1950s who wants heavy firepower in a concealable package and doesn’t want to be limited to 38 special or 32 ACP/380 ACP.

    I have the Model 28-2 Highway Patrol. I has a more subdued finish and a 4 inch barrel. Such nice guns. I bought mine down here in the Bootheel at a pawn shop.

    One of the best models Smith produced for sure. Good to see you are actually putting it to work while it is in your possession. Those N frames are built like tanks.

    I have a 27-2 in the 6" barrel that is mostly a safe queen. I shoot a 28 no dash and 28-2 and you are correct they are very unique. Thank you for the video.

    Very cool piece. That’s exactly the kind of mod27 General Patton wore on his hip in ww2. 31/2 in barrel and stag grips.

    Very nice! I don't see the 27 with the three and a half inch barrel except on TH-cam.

    I agree. That has to be the most badass looking smith imo, and that’s saying something. The 3.5” is so expensive now on gunbroker smh

    General Patton is quoted as calling his M27 S&W 3 1/2" his "killing gun". The Colt single action army that he often carried gets all of the press but if it came down to it the M27 was just a mean looking weapon in which he must have had a lot of confidence. Not taking anything away from the Colt and his history with it, but I understand what he meant, and that was why the M27 was in his carry rotation. He had full confidence in each of them.

      @@mammothammo7357 You’re sorta right! But check out the history, back when SA firearms ruled and semi autos were scarce they were called pistols too!
      Today it’s just more common to differentiate the two as pistol & revolver. I just choose to call them all pistols.

    What do you think, would it still look badass with factory target wood grips?

    • @f8green187
      @f8green187  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They look fine both ways but I personally prefer the looks of service style grips even though target grips are probably more comfortable.

      @@f8green187 That is one good looking piece Sir. I'm thinking if I could only have one handgun for everything from plinking to hunting to concealed carry and self defense, that particular cartridge, platform, and barrel length would be the best mix to cover it all. More than enough power for two legged predictors, adequate power for deer hunting, good enough with heavy hard casts bullets for bear defense, light loads can take small game, high velocity loads for stopping bad guys in their tracks, not too big for ccw, and does it all with style..lol
