    I'll show you some love by commenting on the cool way you begin the video. First you quench our interest with a few chops and slices while remaining off camera. And then you change it up when you start walking thru the trees and it looks almost like a video game where the player only sees their hands and whatever weapon, tool or device they have while searching. So very creative and nice easy pace, but never boring.... good video.
    That blade does look like a good chopping tool. And a we've all seen on all of these survival shows that are on TV now, everybody on these programs wants to use large blades in place of axes, hatchets or tomahawks. Hybrid or traditional, everyone likes an all purpose sort of knife or machete.

    Watching this video makes me home sick. I was so hard to get on the plane and go back to KC. But at least its only temporary . I have to go pack the house up and also get rid of most of my crap before i move back to the Hilo area.

    in malaysia and indonesia we pronounce:
    golok = gore lock
    parang = par rung
    as in english words.

    Hi boy, a few days ago I was looking at this condor parang and i was unsure whether to buy this or the bushcraft model, what are your impressions on this parang? What I like about this is the not very demanding weight and therefore the practicality of use, but my question is with 3 mm thick it will be quite resistant to all uses even on dry wood? let me know your idea about this, Michele.

    i would love the traditional malay parang they use quality wooden carved as the handle and it will last for life (some hundred years old still can be found) if u taken care of it...

    • @arshatarifin7442
      @arshatarifin7442 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah..I got both the golok and parang..a few a them actually..with different design and length..some with the wooden handles and sheaths made of different kind of local woods that we can find here..the golok was design as a side arm, carried all day long by the locals and parang mainly for daily usage.

    • @Wildwestwrangler
      @Wildwestwrangler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the locals use the plastic handles now

  • @bijikiri1891

    Parang is some kind of traditional sword from maluku,Indonesia. Thanks for using parang. Make me proud. God bless you sir.

    • @arshatarifin7442
      @arshatarifin7442 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really..that parang design was inspired by the parang used by ray mears in his show..in that show, he uses an authentic parang made by the Iban tribe of Sarawak, Malaysia..to say its from maluku is not really correct because all of the inhabitants of the many islands in south east asia came from the mainland such as the current Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam etc.

    Parang dgn bentuk paling baik, handlingnya pasti bagus, efisien buat kerja. Parang type semi tebas dan semi tebang, artinya cukup baik buat tebas dan tebang, krn Parang tebas tdk akan efisien buat tebang, begitu sebaliknya. Parang ini berada di tengah2 keduanya. Kepingin punya.

    Gave, our style of harvesting banana is to chop the STEM a V shape, to the direction where it is leaning or bending downward. ( remove the V Cut ) Never cut all the way the stem and the height where to chop is at the level of your head. ( it depends on your height ). The weight of the multiple BANANA bunch would likely forced it to go down slowly, thereby comfortably reaching easily the fruits to cut.

    • @gabehumphries5483
      @gabehumphries5483  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jobal Doctolero that's what I do typically cutting deeper each time so it slowly lowers to the ground. This banana patch is actually too close to the fence so I'm going to have to remove it. Mahalo

    I like the parang better than the golok.. It would be handier up here. Thank you for the video, Gabe

    • @arshatarifin7442
      @arshatarifin7442 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The golok was design primarily as a side arm, to be carried all day long by the local population..parang was design for doing daily chores like cutting firewood..building shelters, skinning and cutting wild games etc..that is why the golok..at least the authentic golok..have a pointy tip and the parang mostly don't but both of them were used in our martial art(silat) training.
