  • ArtPrize 2024 is almost over so I wanted to get this video put together before it ends on Saturday Sept 28th. This piece is an evolution of the piece I did two years ago for ArtPrize 2022 ,"When You Look at Me Can You Tell I'm Sick." This piece focuses on the continuing struggle of living and dealing with mental illness. That's why I included the giant prescription bottles and where the title ,"Still Here." came from. This video talks about this piece and goes though some video clips of me putting the piece together and installing it at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, MI. Hope you enjoy it! Please like, subscribe and comment if you do! ‪@IngridTourangeau‬ #artistatwork #artprize #installationart #mentalhealthawareness #fyp

I think your art piece was so poignant and worthy of conversation, its one of those pieces that needs to be talked about ALOT. I loved it, as someone who lives with depression, and was diagnosed when I was with my abusive ex husband, I had to hide it and couldn't take medication as he would of used it against me. No one around us knew, I smiled my way though it , but I was screaming inside, every day, I wanted to die, and thats the truth. So this hit with me a lot. I worked with a therapist secretly to help me find ways to cope and I have and omg Im so much better. But people dont know, people cant tell. I love this Ingrid

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I had many interactions with people like this when I stood in front of my piece that first weekend.
