    I still am not sure what actions or feelings constitutes "rejection". Not letting the lower movements that materialise as food or sexual desires? If that's the case then why not state it that way. It will be same as other world rejecting paths.

      What we are called upon to reject are certain lower propensities of the vital which are simply an inheritance from the animal and primitive types. Thus for example we have to reject lust but not love. We do not have to reject affection, tenderness, care, kindness in human relationship but reject selfishness, egoism, pride etc. We do not have to leave our job but pursue it as service of the Divine with an eye on excellence and perfection rather than personal gains and ambitions. We not have to reject money or the things that money can bring to make outer life beautiful but reject greed and attachment to it and the sense of ownership and possession. We do not have to reject wife and house and children but treat them as belonging to the Divine and ourselves as trustees. We do not have to reject food but reject the greed for it. We do not have to reject the world but our wrong and egoistic way of connecting with it as if we are the centre and the world is meant to satisfy our pleasure. We do not have to reject relationships but reject anger and excess attachment leading to dependency, expectations and fears. We do not have to reject thinking and feeling but try to turn them upwards towards the Divine truth or at least ennoble them. We can play cricket, football, table tennis not with the idea of winning in competition but to make the body a fit instrument for the Divine. We can study Science not to become famous scientists but to understand the ways of the Divine Working in material forms and living beings. We will study history to learn about how the march of civilization has taken place carrying humanity one step forward. We shall study geography to understand how nation units form for the national soul to express. In short we shall try to understand the Divine Working in Creation. So too we shall study law and polity and finances as well as the existing systems and philosophies to develope the mental instrument but reject their one-sided formula and reveal the truth each represents in the Divine. We shall make a comparative study of Religions but not be attached to their exclusive outlook and proselytizing tendency. Rather we shall discover common elements in a grand synthesis and see how each derives from an aspect of the Divine. So all the fields and activities of the mind, heart, life and body are to be taken up, their inferior movement rejected, especially the egoistic claims and mixture of desires. They have to be then purified, uplifted and divinised. Agreeably it is a much more difficult task needing great patience and perseverance. Ascetic refusal and the division of life into spiritual and worldly as we see it in traditional yoga is relatively easier as it is a clear cut method of cutting life into two parts. The Yoga of Divine Life on the other hand accepts life in all its shades and fields and activities, rejects the impurities in it that come from the past stamp of the animal consciousness as well as the intrusion of ego and desire and transform it with the Mother's help and Grace into something true and beautiful and Divine.

      As to food it is not rejected but taken in moderation consciously. I am not sure what is meant by rejection of food. It is greed (not even taste) and craving that have to be rejected
      As to sex, no yoga that I know of, except perhaps Vamachar, the left hand Tantra, gives a free rein and indiscriminate indulgence in the sex impulse as something very desirable for the Yoga. Self mastery, control over the senses, moderation, getting rid of lust anger and attachment is part of all Yogas including the world affirming Yoga of the Gita. The way of doing it is a different matter but one cannot enjoy unbridled pleasures of the senses and yet hope to find the royal road to God's Bliss. Of course nobody is expected to conquer these things at once and help is provided if the will is sincere and perseveres. But the will should be clear and not justify the failing. If the will is sincere and one has faith in the Grace then no amount of weakness eventually matters.

    🙏Alok da, is there difference between equality & equanimity? Kindly tell me.

    • @AuroMaa
      @AuroMaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Equality is a general term referring to our evaluation of things and people. It is more outwards so to say. Equanimity is an inner psychological condition towards events and circumstances. Equality is our regard towards things. Equanimity is the way we face them.
      Thus the wise man regards the changes around him with equality not labelling them as good and bad. He sees no essential difference (the difference of manifestation is obviously there) between the scholar and a man of little learning. However if either of them insults him, he faces them with equanimity.
