So many good points here. The definitions and language use of today compared to 100 years ago is really a big problem. It hinders debate, understanding and instead lead to faulty assumptions. Socialism is "easy" to define: anti-capitalist. I'm for leftist unity. The internal debates of who, when, what and how is crippling the movement. The technicalities of implementation can come later. Step 1: basic understanding and accessibility of socialist standpoint (like this video). 2: organisation, solidarity, unity (we struggle with this one). 3: dismantling capitalism. 4: discussions, decisions and application of theories for a continuously evolving society.
