That’s not rly true. They got lots of 2nd and 3rd picks from bad teams. If they accrue cap till the deadline they will have 4.1 mil in space, if Kane goes on LTIR until playoffs which is probably a 50/50 of happening they will have 9.6mil to spend at the deadline. Plenty of room to make moves for a top 4 d man and probably a depth D man too

Bob, presidents trophy winner has won the cup in how many of the last 10 years? Pacing your self and finishing the season strong has been the Oilers modus operendi for the last several seasons and it has generated great results. Playing meaningful hockey in April, May and losing is just as important as winning.
No regression allowed and no pre-emptory excuses either,its cup or bust till its over now, nobody cares about winning the Division. No less than a SC and Connor accepting the MVP Award will do.Big Bob sounds a little Hangry.
It would be nice to have a better start through to the end but I dont see they will be as good as people think till the trade deadline. Like the last year. I do think the pacific division isnt as good as it was the last 2 years. We know the Oilers issues. Nurse and the young guy is not a great 2nd line. Serious growing pains there. And the 3rd line d-pair isnt as good as last year. I do think our forwards are better to start. Considering mcleod didnt really improve as much as we thought it was good to let him go. I still think we would have been better with broberg and holloway. In our system Holloway was gonna have a breakout season. Who knows in st louis. I just dont see the Oilers in 1st place by new year. Maybe by end of the year.

They all have to focus on being defensive ogres (including forecheck, backcheck, tracking)...the offence will be there.
