Regardless anyone's opinion on this game I hope it sells well enough to make sure there are more continued Mario and Luigi games being made Because I love the series of Mario and Luigi And I hope there's more that are being made even if it's by the same studio
yeah of course i would love the series to continue, but it shouldn't mean that people must buy mediocre products to support the franchise. Haven't played the game nor am i specifically looking at M&L with this statement
I don't think sales should tell Nintendo to make more games, it's the constant reviews, whether good or bad, that should convince Nintendo to make more games because that should tell Nintendo that if we like or talk about the games, we want to see more of it, like while BeatEmUps does dislike this game, it doesn't mean he wants the series to die, he just passionate for the games (even if I heavily disagree with his review). Any review should tell a company that they want a series to become great and make more, not discourage the company. TL:DR Sales bad, Reviews (whether they like the game or not) better.
a lot of what is said in the review can be criticized not only Brothership, but also the entire M&L, for me the new part is in the top 3-4, clearly inferior to Inside Story, and Superstar Saga, but quite at the level of Dream Team Bros and better than Partners in Time and that strange crossover with Paper Mario... Obviously not bad for a studio that hasn’t worked on this series before
@@shigerumiyamoto9612Tbh though, the games pretty good. Not perfect, but still better than a lot of other games released on the console. I definitely think its one of the best games this year
I disagree with a lot of this review. I really enjoyed the game, not because I'm "giving Nintendo a pass because I grew up with it". I just genuinely thought it was a good game. I get the game has issues, but I wouldn't call it the "worst Switch game of 2024."
This video is more of a reason why I despise rating systems for games. People are too symbolic these days and act as if their opinion are the only ones that matter. You can dislike a game Wood, but don't go bashing people for liking the game. You're literally no better than the people who bashed ign for giving the game a 5. Everyone has their own opinion dude, learn how to deal with them instead of attacking them for liking something you don't.
He is still salty over losing his Nintendo ambassadorship apparently. He just nitpicks and s**ts all over everything they do now. Like goes out of his way to find stuff to slam the games for that dont really matter. Like not being able to control Luigi directly, something you havent been able to do outside of the very first Mario and Luigi way back in like 2003? So like 22 years the games havent had the option and it was NEVER an issue in the previous games but is now? GTFOH
Dude, how did you get those words outta my head? Like, yeah, if this video was just someone giving their opinion without them having to act as if they were going mad over a game being bad it wouldn't have been that bad, which... it did, and it was bad, but to top it off, trying to put an opinion of theirs on us, he invited the guy who made the IGN review to finish the video with. It seemed like they wanted to change our opinions that we humans CAN think differently, but just because you say a hot take it doesn't mean you need to stress it out loud. For me, I haven't played the game, just watching a youtuber on the early end game, and yeah, I felt the pacing issues and sometimes how stale can some side quests be, but overall even if I still didn't see the ending of how M&L fight the Extension Corps and Zokket I think Mario & Luigi Brothership is a really great game!
He’s not attacking them at all it’s just an video with an opinion and telling people why it’s the worst Mario game of 2024 don’t like his opinion then don’t watch the video
Mario and Luigi was a lot of fun. I’m 34 hours in I just finished the 3rd light house and it’s great. But most of these reviewers only spent 21 hours and finished it. Not the best m&l games but better than partners in time and paper jam. Solid 7 1/2 score so far.
It's better then the previous garbage paper mario slop Nintendo's been releasing. Origami, Splash, and Sticker wish they were as good as M&L Brothership.
But this isn't a paper Mario game.... And if we are talking about paper Mario games everyone knows sticker star Is the bottom of the barrel.... As far as the Mario and Luigi series goes this newest one is the bottom of the barrel.....
Definitely feels like a review of someone who hasn’t been a longtime player of the series. A lot of your complaints could be applied to *most* M&L games. The game definitely has some problems, but this is definitely a very nitpicky review. If it’s not your thing that’s fine man. No need to make a half hour video.
This is what he does for all Nintendo stuff now. He just nitpicks and s**ts all over everything they do now, even when its not entirely deserved.d Like outside of the first game, you’ve NEVER been able to control Luigi in this series and he would know that if he was being honest in his review.
As someone who played my first Mario and Luigi game,I really enjoyed the game. The combat is great and varied, good music, animations are fantastic, but the story, characters and enemy variety could be better. I had no problem with the so called frame rate issues(didn’t even notice them really) I’ll leave that to those who like crying over things like that! It’s a solid 7.5
I really like the Brothership art style - yes, it's traditional, but Mario and Luigi both show a lot of personality in their movements and facial expressions. Those concept art pics look like weird fan art webcomics.
the main problem is most of the game is paced terribly. the last 10ish hours with Bowser and Reclusa are amazing IMO. if they cut out a lot of the fluff in the beginning of the game, this is easily a 8/10. i give it a 6 overall.
the beginning is slow but most treasured games have this issue. ppl always say twilight princess is a masterpiece but the beginning is a slog... IMO i liked the beginning of TP but here in M&L:B, the beginning was indeed a slog for me... the minute you get the bros moves/great light house, it def picks up.
@@Nu_Merick Lol, "people always say twilight princess is a masterpiece". I think TP is a masterpiece, but it's just funny to me how 10 years ago everyone thought it was the worst 3D Zelda, and now it's considered peak. The Zelda fanbase never changes lol.
Lol, imo the last 10 hours of the game was the worst part. The beginning had 'fluff' but you were still getting stronger, getting new moves, new plugs, and new items. The bowser battle was fun, and the reclusa twist with the final 'dream' segment was cool. But all the padding to collect whatever it was ruined the final segment, the final dungeon was, eh, not the worst in the series, but pretty dull. FYI, I would've enjoyed the game 10x more had they cut that portion out of the game and ended it after the Zokket fight, with the reclusa fight taking place directly after.
I agree with some of this review, mostly the pacing and writing stuff but like- Reducing the combat system down by saying the focus is on normal attacks for 40 hours...??? It feels particularly ignorant of how much variation the plugs and bros attacks give you for strategy. I never really found the basic attacks boring because theyre fun to preform and theyre pretty satisfying to see play out- Especially with the plug combos which I feel like should've been talked about more in this video? It seemed like a footnote in the combat section which feels very weird when that is a HUGE point of the combat. Its like reviewing TTYD and not dedicating a good chunk of time to the badges.
I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm like at the 5-6th island iirc. In most cases (usually outside of bosses) I just don't do bro attacks cuz the animations are way longer than regular attacks, and the enemies are easy enough that a simple attack or two can finish the fights much faster. They're fun to do when you get them, but after doing them a few times, I just ignore them tbh
Most of the stuff he complained about was nitpicky and ignorant of previous games in the franchise. He continuously compared things to thousand year door instead of previous entries in M&L Like the enemy count in the game, for example, is roughly the same as the enemy count in previous M&L games but he compared it TTYD for whatever reason.
I think too many people think that a game's score automatically starts at a 10 by default, and then you can start deducting based on each nitpick, rather than giving a score based on the overall quality, i.e. excellent, good, average, poor, etc.
Sorry, an HD-2D artstyle for a Mario game would NOT fit at all. Though I may be biased because I’m not wild about that artstyle in the first place. I think Brothership’s artstyle is great. It really fits the Mario and Luigi series.
@@TheLonelyGoomba No, Dream Team is not HD-2D. The Octopath Traveler games, Triangle Strategy, Live a Live Remake, and Dragon Quest 3 Remake are HD-2D. They have a distinct style that looks nothing like Dream Team.
Calling it the worst game is a bit sad but I understand the criticism. I’ve been playing M&L series since superstars. Big fan. Brothership is admittedly long but as a long time fan, I’m ok with that. I know not everyone likes long games & prior M&L are relatively short but when AlphaDream went downhill, I thought the series died. So, I was happy with Brothership & happy that I could invest hours & hours into it.
As someone who's never played any of these games, this perspective is important, I think. Games appeal to those already in the lineup differently than they do to newcomers. Long games are often like a reward to long time fans, granted, length of gameplay alone doesn't cut it - it would be nice for all games to make sure the quality stays up throughout that added time. I'm curious about this series, and might hop into it when I have time to get sucked into a new thing.
@@Gilliebeany100%. I think long-time fans bring a unique perspective to games. Obviously, a lot of my love for M&L is filled with nostalgia but at the end of the day, I appreciate the fact that this game exists. There are other franchises (e.g Star Fox, F-Zero, Punch Out) that might never see the light of day again. The fact that Brothership exists is a testament to Nintendo’s trust in the franchise & the fans.
I've played M&L since it started too, and I don't like Brothership that much, but it's not because it's long, it's because it has too many flaws (imo). Loading times, boring story, disconnected world (PM TTYD also had a hub area, but it feels better there for some reason), lack of enemy variety, constant interruptions, etc. That said, everyone can have their opinion. I'm not saying this to change yours.
There are far worse and more boring games out there on Switch....Brothership is fine, it's not the best M&L game out there. It has issues, most likely because Alpha Dream being gone.
@@CuteRedPanda64 Neither the original 1 2 Switch nor it's sequel Everybody Switch released in 2024.....and he specifically states "most boring this year" the year being 2024...
Everytime someone brings up how you can’t control Luigi for puzzles, I keep thinking that y’all forget this applies to every other M&L game after superstar saga
For me this game made luigi useless. Not only can I completely ignore luigi for 80% of the time because he does everything on it's own, but the AI gets stuck so many time that it just started to become annoying having luigi around. This game felt like a mario rpg game but with luigi as a side character instead of mario and luigi being the main characters.
@@Lunch33 literally how is he useless??? Again, look at every M&L game after superstar saga. He quite does nothing but jump, and when you split up, Luigi just stands and waits for Mario to finish. Brothership actually gives Luigi more importance for the puzzles, thanks to Luigi logic in the overworld and bosses. I genuinely do not get this
@therandomguy2212 I do agree that compared to other Mario & Luigi series, this Luigi do seem to be more useful, but I'm just disappointed that Luigi's Logic system is just you pressing a button for him to "solve" the 'puzzle'
@@hteekay many puzzles are doable with you controlling Mario, while Luigi controls on his own, whether it’s quickly stepping on panels, or Luigi flipping a switch to help Mario guide through a room, or those stealth missions. You’re still doing stuff as Mario. Luigi is simply helping you
Yeah I agree especially about paper jam that's my least favorite one. Dream team I like but I can definitely acknowledge it's on the lower half of the Mario and Luigi games
@@charliep123 2025 is the supposed year for Switch 2's release and Brothership was the last Original game published specifically for Nintendo (i think)
@@Commenter3726 I'm willing to bet that there'll be at least one Nintendo game released for both the Switch and Switch 2 close to launch, like how Breath of the Wild released for the Wii U and Switch. Even if the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with Switch games, it could still happen.
I have to respectfully disagree. I loved brothership. There was clearly a whole lot of heart and effort put in. I have far more problems with far more games being Mario maker 2, Super mario party, and paper mario origami king
What do you dislike about Super Mario Maker 2? It's one of my most-played Switch games because I get wrapped up in designing courses and easily spend 30+ hours just on one course. I do wish it had more updates and better ways for people to find quality courses, but I've had a ton of fun with it.
@ it’s just I had fun with it but I felt more could have been done with it considering it looked like another design other than 3D world was going to be added
i mean the game has a slow start, but MANY good games have that issue as well but get a pass still. IMO once you get to twistee island/first bros move, it VASTLY picks up and you can sail faster too. the combat is pretty good. im having a good time with it. TTYD is def up there though on best mario RPG's.
I feel like people have missed the point of reviews over the years. A number doesnt define if a game is unanimously good or bad, its more of what that number means to the reviewer and if you personally agree with the viewers tastes. It doesn't matter how much someone like Wood praises Zelda or Arlo praises Pikmin if I only like shooters and jrpgs for example. If you agree with Wood and IGN on Brothership, great! Maybe you have similar tatse and should avoid those games. Disagree? Also great! Go find one of the many 9/10 reviewers and maybe take more recommendations from them. It will be a lot more productive than getting mad that different people can have different opinions.
@@Dionaea_floridensis Took me that long to find all 99 mysteries lol Plus, playing EOL online after a stressful day (or after losing a lot in smash) is a nice way to unwind.
The more niche a franchise is, the more honest a reviewer can be about their opinions on the game. Nintendo fans have set expectations for Mario games, such as the belief that no Mario game should ever be rated below a 7. IGN is large and broad enough that they don’t need to appeal to this expectation, while a nintendo-focused review site such as NintendoLife is incentivized to give a score that they anticipate will be the consensus. You’ll find two main camps of Nintendo fans when talking about brothership. One group contains the fans that unequivocally love anything Nintendo, and outright deny reviews such as the 5/10. The other group will acknowledge the flaws of the game, but will say that the game still “deserves” a 7/10. This is that Mario barrier that I mentioned in play.
Brothership should be above a 7 not because it is a Nintendo game or a Mario game, but because of its own merits. Its story, visuals, and battles outweight the low points of pacing dragging it below a 7.
@@Luxembourgishthe visuals are what put the performance down. If they had found a way to do it without the outlines the switch cpu wouldn’t be working so hard and we’d get better frame rates across the whole game. The story is alright, but the lack of creative control from Acquire because it was two separate teams doin the story and gameplay meant that we got some bland characters. The only characters worth noticing are only worth noticing when you’re playing the part of the story focused on them. And only some side quests reveal more about the story. You get some important detail for some side characters which is nice, but you’ll never see half of those characters again. Some side quests have ridiculous goals to help an npc exclusive to the quest and you don’t learn much about them only to get a mushroom and syrup. This is where a lot of pacing comes into the issue.
I don't care if someone says they don't like the game. Tastes are different, and you can dislike a game if you want. Calling it the "Worst Switch game" or even "Worst Switch game of 2024" is a whole different story, though. I know he specifies within the video that he really thinks it's the "second" worst, but putting that label on it at all is ridiculous
@ he said it’s NINTENDO’s worst switch game of 2024. As in first party. The confusion is easy to understand because Nintendo Switch is one thing on its own. The reason it’s the worst first party title of 2024 from Nintendo is because the other releases are just that much better than it. It doesn’t make it the worst switch game to drop in 2024 as it’s still an alright game and there are many third party releases that are dog crap.
Fair opinion but why draw attention to reviewers with scores over 90 that have Nintendo in their names when theres 4 of them total vs 18 that are not Nintendo related. Seems like an argument made in bad faith tbh
Man, I had so much fun playing brothership. Yeah, the first half of the game is a bit slow, but in the second half it REALLY picks up. It's certainly not a bad game and certainly not one of the worst games of 2024.
Thanks I played the first 8 hours and I dropped the game. Told slow for me. I’m playing through TTYD now and I am having a blast. I will give brothership a second chance
I’m playing the game right now and I’m about 15 hours in and I genuinely love this game. I know it’s not perfect and has a fair share of problems. But this time I chose to not let the internet to tell me how I should feel. I love this game a lot!!
@ no not at all. I genuinely love the charm and personality coming out of this game. On the contrary, everyone around me is telling me to hate it actually. I just really enjoy this game. The things people hv complaints about like the game hand holding or “Luigi logic” are things I acc don’t mind bc I only have time to game at night since I’m a student / part time worker, so having the game direct me to where I’m going next helps relieve my stress from the outside world. I also love the music, combat, and all of that a lot. I listen to Twistee island sometimes and have the ShipShape island song get stuck in my head as I’m working. The colours are beautiful too. The new Mario/luigi voice actor always makes me laugh w the Italian gibberish. Like genuinely I love this game a lot it’s such a comfort game for me lmao
2:21 you absolutely lost me here, the mario and luigi battle system is supposed to be different and unique from other battle systems, which it definitely is, its more interactive, keeps you on your toes, and is very fun.
He hasn’t played any of the others clearly or he would know the Luigi not being controllable thing shouldnt be a complaint because it hasn’t been an option since Superstar Saga.
exactly. that’s why I don’t get people complaining about Luigi not being controllable. That was only a thing for one game. One! And that was several years ago. Plus from what I’m getting of other comments, this guy just seems butt hurt because he lost his ambassadorship from Nintendo. Apparently all he does now is this. He just dogs on Nintendo. Because he’s got nothing better to do.
Don’t get it twisted, if Nintendo needs to be called out, I will call them out. But again from what I’m hearing from other comments, this guy is just hating for the sake of hating. That’s all it is
Let me address your criticisms. Your review continues to spread ill-will towards this game, when the reality is that many complaints are blown out of proportion. The only reason this video has traction is because most of your viewers haven't played through all of the game and trust your opinions. You are using that trust to make mountains over some really small, cherry-picked mole hills. You complain about art styles, yet that is a very subjective matter. To most people, the game's style was translated on to the Nintendo Switch in a very tasteful manner. Most people would agree when looking at reactions to the initial reveal. Logan said he was excited. He never even had a problem with the style, but you make such a big fuss over this. I think balancing out series standards while doing something new with the art is a tough act especially for a new team, and in my opinion, I think the art adaptation to Switch was very successful. We don't know the full extent of the original cut content, and I am sure the team had some great artistic interpretations for the series, but the end result was still very praised. If we had a 2D HD art style, that would stifle potential for more creative camera angles in the environment and cinematic cutscenes. Both of which are leveraged in Brothership. Though you complain about the frame rate, and I noticed it too, it barely impacted my enjoyment of the game. Yeah, it was inconsistent, but it almost never made the game unplayable. In my opinion, a more justifiable criticism would be loading. That was more of a problem for me, but you never mentioned that. It just kinda shows how we have very different definitions of what makes a game unplayable. Link's Awakening and Echos of Wisdom are more egregious with frame rate drops, yet people enjoy those games just fine. You then go into characters, and yet, that's another subjective thing. One could see value in stories between Willma and her family, Technikki and Adaphane, Jr. and Buddy, IDLE and Peach, or Burnette and Chilliam to be investing moments in the game, whereas others couldn't care. I think it was cool that Mario and Luigi was trying to establish some world building and more complex characters, as I feel like prior games in the series have failed to do that. I personally think that the themes of connections and self-indulgence were very bold for a Mario game. Paper Mario is better at this, but for Mario and Luigi to attempt this direction is very promising for the series. Luigi Logic isn't supposed to be a puzzle moment for the player. These are just sequences in which Luigi is told to do something and/or gives the player some new abilities/actions. The novelty is that you never know what it will be next, keeping Luigi Logic refreshing throughout the whole game. Boss battles are especially interesting as they introduce mini games that help hinder the enemy in a way that doesn't immediately grant the player a win. The game evolves on this concept, where the player has to find the right moment in a battle to use Luigi Logic, like in the Bowser fight. Making Luigi an AI ally in the overworld isn't an OBJECTIVLEY bad idea. Everyone reacts to it in different ways. I am personally fond of how the game finds new ways for Mario to interact with Luigi. I was worried about how many times the series could do the A button, B button platforming without it getting stale. I mean, Paper Jam made it so that you would jump with all three characters at once. No one cared then, so why do people care now Luigi Logic intertwines with Luigi's AI with this, as Mario is able to interact with him in ways that wouldn't be possible in other games. There are puzzles in which you both are trying to guide objects but have to be working together from other ends of a map, as well at stealth section with Luigi in his barrel and times when Luigi is timing a hammer swing to a switch and is called to Mario seamlessly. To see this as only a bad thing is overly cynical. The reason there are elements in which you are sorta competing with Luigi to collect sprite bulbs and coins is to give off the feeling of a brotherly rivalry for both the bros, it ultimatley means nothing, but is a cute addition to compete against Luigi for. While platforming separately and jumping on separate numbered platforms are mostly timed platforming challenges for Mario contextualized by the Luigi AI sorta competing with you. Timed platforming challenges are nothing new for Mario and Luigi, and the only difference here is that Luigi is initiating them which mechanically means that the platforming can be more precise with just one bro. Now, I agree that the combat of TTYD is better, but that doesn't mean that the combat of this game is not good in its own right. Though Mario and Luigi have a smaller pool of enemies than TTYD, TTYD already had a baseline to take from in the original Paper Mario game. If you want to make an unfavorable comparison for TTYD, TTYD has you fight koopas, goombas, fuzzies, dry bones, clefs, puffs, and piranha plants, all of which were enemies from the first game as the primary enemies from chapter 1-the great boggly tree. Chapter 3 features most enemies from the original Paper Mario, and chapter 4 has buzzy beetles, hyper enemies, and boos, all of which were again from the original Paper Mario. Brothership, though having old enemies, has a lot of new types of interactions with these older enemies. Now, ignoring this. Let me go over some exclusive features that make Brothership's combat more balanced and interesting that TTYD's. Enemies in Brothership can team up with one another for new types of attacks, while enemies themselves often have multiple attacks. Mario and Luigi can be slower than enemies making is so that the player is not always guaranteed the first turn meaning that there are times in which the enemies have the upper hand and that your defense matters in a way that Paper Mario doesn't acknowledge. The battle plugs were an original idea that add complexity to battles and could be adjusted several times in battle, while badges were ripped from the original game and are hard to adapt to upcoming threats, as new players cannot predict the upcoming battles. You mention backtracking, but TTYD does this as well, but usually with worse rewards. I see the backtracking for side quests in both of these RPGs to represent the intrinsic value of immersing yourself in the game world more often than anything else. Though there are two things that I agree with you on that are a little problematic. 1.) The slow start of the game. It does take too long for things to get started, but I never had a problem with this because I just wanted to see what the game was getting at here by establishing Concordia. But yeah. This is definitely a problem as the first 3 Mario and Luigi games were so well-paced. 2.) The limited number of attacks. This was acknowledged with the plugs and gear combinations that add variation, but even then, I still yearn for more options. To me though, the game is more about reaction times, when to use bros moves, and when and where allocate gear and plugs. That's what makes the combat engaging enough for me. For me, besides reintroducing the hand attacks from Superstar Saga with fire and ice powers for the bros, I have a hard time thinking about other combat mechanics that can be added to the game. You, sir, are just offering deconstructive criticism, where you say the game is limited in attacking methods, but fail to provide any solutions to this. I 100%ed this game and really enjoyed it. Probably an 8/10 for me. Giving this game a 5/10 is implying that the game is only "half good" when this game has so much to offer and its clear to see the passion pouring into various facets of this game. Furthermore, Logan's rationale behind how a 5/10 is not bad and is mediocre doesn't sit well with me because it's one point away from what IGN would consider a "bad" game. IGN rarely gives games a 3, 2, or 1 rating. So, this game is essentially 1 point away from one of IGNs lowest review scores. Ballan Wonderworld is just one point away for comparison. Regardless of the criticisms, it is clear that this was a project made with passion. This is no Paper Jam or Mario Sports Superstars for 3DS, with bland direction. There is some genuine artistry here. This is the only Mario and Luigi game I went out of my way to 100% too (aside for Partners in Time because that's a difficult game to judge 100% completion in my opinion), so that has to say something about the game. I would say that I am as passionate about Mario and Luigi as Logan is, but he channeled his passion into nitpicking over small problems while choosing to not see the merit of some of the decisions of the game. I channel my passion to look at both what the good and bad do and am more forgiving to certain problems with the game as long as there is some merit to reason for those "problems". For example, TTYD is one of my most favorite games of all time, and though it's certainly not perfect, I would want to give the game a 10/10 because I can look past its shortcomings to see the artistic merit behind it. I digress. Though the pace of Brothership was too slow at the start, the game kept me hooked with unexpected turns of the game's story and gameplay additions. It's frustrating how you seem to be hyper nitpicking over a game that has many great elements to it. A bold story with more heavy themes than what I would expect out of a Mario and Luigi game, a unique and innovative battle system, cinematic cutscenes, moments of comedy, an art style that evolves from past games and a fun overall gameplay loop.
This is really well written and it was exactly what I was thinking. More people should read this. Unironically, you should be a game reviewer. Great writing 👍

It's okay to not like the game, but judging the people who enjoyed it and gave it a high score (while implying that some of them were "afraid" to say what they really though with that Logan comment) is just hateful, let people like stuff, if you didn't like it then make your video about how it sucks but don't attack the people who think differently or contradict your point if view.

1:22 Bro tries to validate IGN's review, in his review, but also shows that IGN of Spain gives this game a 9/10! He mentions how several people love this game, even IGN, but then narrowly focuses on the bad that he has made up himself.
The whole reason why I love the original Mario RPG games is from the story. Also will have to say that Luigi’s Mansion (the original) was better at showing Luigi’s personality than this game. The original showed it with actual dialogue while the other ones still had personality, they didn’t show it through the dialogue. Luigi Logic made me think of the SpongeBob “I have an idea” meme. The Luigi logic was cool but it could’ve been way better especially if you could-you know ACTUALLY play him other than the battles
My problem isn’t IGN giving Brothership a 5 out of 10. The problem is just how inconsistent their ratings are and many games that aren’t worthy of high ratings get those anyway. They rated Stickerstar at 8.3 an RPG that gives you almost no rewards non-mandatory battles. Then you have a game like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) where it has a good campaign with a fun graphically and mechanically rich gameplay as well as it’s multiplayer and somehow it is an 8.0? Same with SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Rehydrated. A game that was a literal remake where the original had 7.3 the remake got 5.0, it was a remake the faithfully remasters the original, doesn’t fill out with bugs and glitches and the performance actually plays well. And it sucks how it’s being rated based on how you play it today and not how it was as a remake/remaster. Don’t get me started with Cyberpunk 2077, a game with one of the buggiest launches ever, my friend was so close to buying it by the bugs alone prevented it, playing it now is pretty decent. But it didn’t deserve a 9.0 back in the day. IGN needs to be more consistent because all I keep seeing is games being inferior rating higher than the other said game despite it having less effort
@@KaiJie-n8q You think Stickerstar is good but not Brothership. Even Logan Plant agrees Stickerstar is the worst Mario RPG. I played it and I couldn’t get myself to keep playing because even Brothership has a reason for you to keep playing
Yeah that’s how I felt at first too but looking back at it I feel like people forget that the reviews are made by different people with different game tastes. I looked at their website and saw that the reviews for Brothership, Cyberpunk, and SpongeBob are all made by different people so its possible that the writer of the SpongeBob article thought the Brothership review was too low.
Not gonna lie, I disagree. First I want to say I am not a BeatEmUps hater, I enjoy your content a lot but I want to state that I'm a bit disappointed at this video, specifically that you only used the worst examples of Luigi Logic, didn't even mention it's use in battle and called the combat boring, saying that there were only a hammer and jump attack while there are a dozen bros attacks you unlock throughout the game and the battle plugs that completely change your combat style and types of attacks. For me Mario and Luigi Brothership was a 7.5/10, sure the gameplay got a little stale at times and the starting 4 hour tutorial was a bit painful, but the gameplay only gets better from there. There are specific islands that are completely different to the others that make you solve puzzles differently or make you do many different things that are very enjoyable, even if they are quite simple. Most islands are very memorable and you won't forget about the characters as the game comes back to them and they all have an important role to play. And finally, I find the art amazing, you can really see the expression on everyone's faces (especially Mario and Luigi) and you can tell there personalities easily, I'm not trying to say that you, or IGN are wrong, but I'm trying to say don't call the core aspects of the game (mainly combat and luigi logic) boring or unsatisfactory when you don't even mention the best parts of either of them. Once again, I'm not a hater, I love your content and your videos.
At this point, partners in time should have a remake or a new mario and luigi game referencing all the games so the next mario and luigi game would feel similar to previous games that cant be made anymore since alphadream went bankrupt. I wish there was a way to refund alphadream.
18:39 What? So you basically took the other things that make the combat not just jumping and hammering away, and said, that that makes the combat just jumping and hammering. You could literally just do the same thing for TTYD. Except for a few special attacks, badges and partners, the combat in TTYD is really just jumping and hammering, and that for 30-55h (depending on if you do 100%). Like why would you do that? The combat in Brothership, in my Opinion, is pretty deep and complex. Specifically the Battle Plugs put a lot more strategy in there. And, I obviously don't know about your playstyle, but I regularly used the special attacks. You obviously don't have to like the combat, but reducing it so much is just unnecessary
Great game. But this seems like a "popular opinion" to crap on it. As you are just regurgitating what everyone else said. I had no performance issues. The dialog was great and Combat was fun. 10/10
I'd argue that it wasn't the lack of innovation that killed alpha dream, but rather their decision to put all of their ressources into releasing games for a already dead system.
The only reviews I see for this game are 5/10 or 9/10 and I feel awkward thinking that’s it’s just an alright 7/10 game. It’s Unnecessarily long for how much content actually exists in the game. It’s way too padded
i've learned that rating is not very acurate. I've seen people saying stuff like "it's amazing!" and leaving a 3 or 4 stars. Others complaning an leaving 5 stars...
I don’t think it’s really fair to compare the amount of unique enemies with ttyd. Bc there is a huge difference between how complex enemies act in both games. In brothership the enemies have a couple of different attacks that can be COUNTERED by either the jump or hammer while ttyd you simple have to time ur guard command and most enemies had one type of attack. It’s much more complex and complicated to create an enemy in the Mario & Luigi series based on that. It’ll be more fair to compare it with other Mario and Luigi games such as super star saga which only has, guess what 40 unique enemies as well. 18:13
I had a good time with Mario and Luigi Brothership. It was perhaps a little too long, finding and connecting all these islands did get a bit tedious after a while, and I also felt they pad out the game too much by having these enemies appear then leave, then appear again and leave again, and so on, it happen way too often and that was getting old after a while. I didn't had an issue with the performance since I played this on my Switch Lite, which for some reason played better than the Docked version. The battle system was great, and dude, its a turn base combat, of course you are gonna do the same things over and over and over again, that's the idea of the turn base combat system, it gets repetitive but it gradually gets even better and deeper so you don't mind it being repetitive, because as it gets better, you want to keep playing and find out what else the game will provide.
It suffers from the same slow start that dream team had, but the worst pacing issues comes from the side quests for me. There are some quests that are good and even if they don’t reward much they still show some cool story for the side characters. BUT! When they make me go out of the way to travel back to allsand island to kill a sharkbone for a chance to get a drop I need to give someone, and I get A SYRUP AND MUSHROOM ITEM with VERY LITTLE STORY TIED TO IT BECAUSE ITS SOME RANDOM GUY, I get very mad. There are so many quests that are more worth it to just skip. But when I’m going through a playthrough for the first time, and they hide a bunch of quest rewards for some reason, I’m gonna do em all.
The worst Nintendo Switch game? That's not Everybody 1-2 Switch! But... wow, the concept art looks so interesting and unique! I didn't pick up Brothership because it didn't look super interesting and different, and the characters and writing didn't seem like a selling point. What's the point if the characters aren't interesting or unique? I'd love a Mario Luigi game in an 2D+HD art style. That seems interesting and different.
The characters are definitely interesting and unique in Brothership. Sure some of the concept art was cool, but the characters aren't one of the issues with the game imo.
yep not a very professional review. Like its cool you dont like it thats fine but to insult the intelligence of those that do or maybe dont find the faults you had it with to be that big of detriment is crazy work.
Can we please stop with the whole "how did they score the game this high? They must be wrong!" thing? I mean, unless it's like something really obvious, like the game literally not working or running at 10fps and having a 9/10 across the board, it's literally different opinions I hated the beginning of Brothership but after it finally got going I actually ended up enjoying it much more than I thought. But, hey, that's just my opinion... and if I gave it a 7/10 with that opinion it would probably be an "undeserved" one I guess.
I didn't get the impression he thought they were wrong, I got the impression he was trying to understand where they're coming from. It feels strange to have a different opinion than a loud group of people, or what may seem like a majority of people, regardless of context. In general, it feels weird to look at something people loudly enjoy and know you didn't feel the same way.
@@SwimmerChick1821 Well, I did get the impression that he was making the point that people were being "too soft" or that because it's Nintendo or whatever. Just replayed a part when he was showing a list of all the other scores and... yeah. Still think the same. He even said that to the same dude that gave the 5/10 to that game in the end. And that guy, who got plenty of critism for that score, felt the need to clarify that it's an opinion after all.
See I hate that point he brought up because M&L Bowser Inside Story (the best one that a lot of people love) HAS A SIMILAR BOX ART TO IT, literally white background, mario and luigi, and the gimmick on each game (BIS has bowser Brothership has the ship) like box art for the franchise doesn't mean much when the white background wasn't there for 2 games (technically all games had white background in japan)
Box are shouldnt even matter. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the quality of a game in anyway. It’s just a preference honestly and that should never affect a game’s score unless it’s just like extremely gory and offensive or something but thats just simply not the case here.
Funny enough alot of the mechanics seem to be tied to Co op, but the co op was dropped and turned into a single player game. I personally feel the game would have been amazing if you could play with your friends in local and online co op. Everything would have made more since then
I'm a big fan of M&L games, but this game was extremely slow. It feels like a very generic rpg with very generic npcs, they just put mario and luigi there, it's not even in the mario universe.
I love how everyone complains about luigi not having prominence in this game... He does more in this game than any other M&L game apart from dream team... and yall didn't like dream team for some reason either. I'm starting to think you guys just hate when Luigi does things. In all seriousness, the only 3 real issues the game has are the slow start, the performance drops in the last 3rd of the game, and the drop in writing quality in the last 3rd too (seriously if I had to hear about "bonds" any more times I was gonna tear Cozzette a new socket). Not a 10/10 but it's definitely a good game and in the middle of the M&L games, It's definitely better than that dogshit paperjam.
I think it's always weird when somebody says, ,,the only real problem,, and then lists completely subjective opinions. Like, no hate, I just think it's funny
In all honesty, I have enjoyed brothership. Yeah there is quite a bit of conversation and the characters are not very impressive, but I do enjoy the layout and battle. Also, you can very much tell by the conversations and the Luigi logic that this was heavily targeted for younger audiences.
I'd argue against that (about this being targeted to younger people). Specifically the last parts of the game feel a lot less like a children's game too me. I mean of course it is still something for all ages, and for the beginning part of the story, I would agree, that the game feels a bit childish. But the last 5h felt even more out of nowhere for that reason
@@jarretticeearthguard8614let's say you get to eat the most delicious meal. For the first time and some after it will be perfect. But what if that's all you get to eat? Then it gets bland really fast.
But I love Mario & Luigi: Brothership! It was Acquire's first attempt at the series and there has been lots of great moments. I think it's a ton of nostalgia Blinding here with Superstar Saga.
"Mario and Luigi Brothership is riddled with performance issues, It suffers from insanely slow pacing, a forgettable story with non-memorable characters" You just described Tears of the Kingdom to a tee
I don’t know why I smiled so big at Logan plant just appearing, I love when videos go a bit deeper than you’d expect, thanks for putting in that extra bit wood!!
I’m about 12 hours in, I wish the side characters were more interesting. I just don’t care for ANY of them. Right now I’m struggling to continue my play through. It’s pretty average at the moment.
I hate his review for one Mario and Luigi games never really focused on story and also you never control Luigi in any of the games except for Superstar Saga and also you're trying to play the game safe because it's been 10 years since the original game for the Mario & Luigi and also you're comparing it to other RPGs from other Developers who have more experience at doing this they know the games we're going to be good because they've been making more of those games it's been 10 years since the last Mario and Luigi game
You're annoyed about games being compared within the same genre? If I could spend my time doing something, ofc I'm going to choose the better options, what is this argument. "playing it safe" since it's been so long somehow voids all criticism? Yeah sorry no, the series died because it played it too safe, this was the time they *had* to take a risk and they blew it.
@dataroaming7512 The first new game needs to play it safe and if it goes off the rails it will fail so in the next game it could be something new and also new a new Dev team is working on the game and him comparing Brothership to other RPG's made by a Dev knowing what to do it's like giving a gun to a baby and a assassin the baby needs to train to use it while the Assassin has many years of training under their belts at using guns. So can you see what I'm going on about now
@ChaosDS64 Buddy Acquire is an established studio, the director may be new in the role but he’s been within the industry for a long time, these aren’t infants that don’t know what they’re doing. And games are inherently a creative art-form, compelling art requires a level of risk, games that play it too safe like this one ultimately fail, like it did.
@dataroaming7512 I have a Counterpoint this is a Mario game Mario games are always safe for the most part literally look at the new Super Mario Bros series and those things sold well they didn't tell the best but they did decent for what they were the only times when Nintendo didn't play it safe what is with Mario Wonder and a couple of other spin-off games like Paper Mario and also Nintendo has full control over what the game is and Nintendo usually does the right thing that's how the survive in the console Wars so long they're the reason why the PlayStation exists and Microsoft tried to buy them out and Nintendo laughed at them and also he was comparing Mario and Luigi a game series that's been dead for 10 years to a literal remake of a Final Fantasy game that was in the PS5 of course Mario & Luigi I'm going to be at that level the PS5 is 15 times stronger then a switch
@ChaosDS64 Thanks for bringing up new super Mario bros because it exactly proves my point, new super Mario bros sold 30 million copies, while its sequel sold almost a third of that at 13 million copies, the Wii U games sold even less than that for obvious reasons. It is the pinnacle example of a Nintendo series playing it far too safe, and you know what bought the series back? Wonder did over a decade since new super Mario bros U and they took a risk, shows you it can be done. And saying mainline Mario games don’t take creative risks? Look at Mario Galaxy, Odyssey, Sunshine, and 64. Games full of creativity and CAN compete with games from other consoles at the time because they were just that good. When wood was comparing it to final fantasy, it wasn’t about visuals, it was about gameplay and story, two categories where Nintendo is perfectly capable of competing. They just fumbled the bag here, plain and simple.
1:43 The fun fact about this reviewer is that they come from here, Brazil. It's a website which belongs to some comic books old-school reviewers, although they are known for their internal conflicts and controversial opinions. They probably have some problems in selecting their reviewers, keeping in mind that Nintendo is as much popular as inaccessible in Brazil, for their prices. So, I have the impression that the whole Nintendo community in Brazil consists in "All or Nothing" reviewers, who either are blinded true lovers or overly critical ones. The first reviewed M&L, the second, Mario RPG. Anyway, don't listen to what Enemy says.
Usually I am on board with your takes but not this one. I just bought Brothership last week, I'm 15 hours in and I am loving it. There are some frustrating aspects to platforming but nothing game breaking. A solid 7.5.
Brothership ended up being my favorite game of last year. The battle system was amazing and I LOVE the art style and animations. I'd say a lot of people will look back on it more fondly 🤓
Wood sitting on a greenscreen and using his basement as a background is hilarious to me. A cherry on top would be if the placement of the greenscreen is exactly where the background picture was taken since that where everything is set up for recording.
rushing through a game only to be disappointed that the game takes a different direction than the previous games is not what i would call "doing their job"
After Mario Odyssey, I kinda stopped having that same love for Mario like I use to. Mario Wonder was different, but it didn’t bring me into want to even finish it. Hoping Nintendo can really try and capture something good again.
Nostalgia blindness is definitely a thing that prevents us from admitting defects in anything that reminds us of a favorite childhood game. I also think there is a mental bias with the way rating systems are currently used. Even though the scale is 1 to 10, most games will fall between 6 and 9 on that scale. As a result, some consumers falsely assume a 5 means the game is absolute garbage with no redeeming qualities. Since the lower half of this scale is rarely if ever used, they may as well give it a score out of 5, and have 2 be for a game like this that has some redeeming qualities, but too many negatives that bring it down. Only by regularly using the entire ratings scale do we get a full understanding of how good or bad a game actually is. I feel our bias for this actually comes from school, where any grade below 50% is considered a failure, and this too becomes its own nostalgia bias.
Tbh Pokemon Scarlet Violet is probably the worst game on switch compared to any other Switch game. It was boring, slower gameplay than sword shield which both use the classic Pokemon battle system. Had to delete it and wish Nintendo gave a refund option for it. Mario and Luigi Brothership is tbh a 8/10. It is slow but only at the start tbh and the artstyle is the best one we got for awhile for a Mario game.
I love Pokémon, I'm sorry for being toxic, but I seriously question the cognitive capabilities of adults who liked SV. Like, maybe if you're a complete casual and you think games running at 20 FPS, with a non-existent plot for the most part, terrible graphics, stupid gym quests, that this is all normal? But I see people who played masterpieces like Dragon Quest XI claim SV are wonderful lol How can you like something completely mediocre at best when you have literally seen one of the best games in this genre? Idk, maybe these people are on drugs while they play Pokémon.
@lutr0_679yes Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Really recommend it, but keep in mind that you will need patience, it's an extremely large RPG, the beginning is high quality but slow, lots of traveling and boss battles. But it is probably the best classic style RPG, and it is very classic, keep that in mind, don't expect anything super modern in the combat system or storytelling, it's just the best version of the very classic JRPG formula, with amazing modern graphics.
@@RuuyGSV Has serious issues for sure and is probably one of the worst on the console because of the issues with the fps and graphics and so on so forth, but I think it’s unfair to completely deny anything good that it has because of those issues. People lump in everything with the graphical issues and frame issues. The story was completely fine if not pretty good, shiny hunting is so much nicer for everyone, as it’s way more casual accesible. A lot of the new Pokémon designs were pretty good. The music was phenomenal. A lot of other ideas like the choice of gyms and such are there but just weren’t properly executed. I understand and agree with the criticism and frustration of the clearly unpolished-ness of the game, but it still has some decent qualities and was still overall fun, at least for me, especially since the worst I ever ran into was just the fps issues, never anything worse. I definitely wish they’d just get help from other studios to properly optimize and wish they had done that for SV though.

Don't call it a "system." Individual reviewers in a group aren't a "system."
They're calling the review process a system not every reviewer in the company

Regardless anyone's opinion on this game
I hope it sells well enough to make sure there are more continued Mario and Luigi games being made
Because I love the series of Mario and Luigi
And I hope there's more that are being made even if it's by the same studio
yeah of course i would love the series to continue, but it shouldn't mean that people must buy mediocre products to support the franchise.
Haven't played the game nor am i specifically looking at M&L with this statement
Yeah I hope so too I would love to see them try another one hopefully without all the dev issues

It seemed like they wanted to change our opinions that we humans CAN think differently, but just because you say a hot take it doesn't mean you need to stress it out loud.

I got tired of the reviews and got the game myself and i actually like it 🤷🏽♂️
I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm like at the 5-6th island iirc. In most cases (usually outside of bosses) I just don't do bro attacks cuz the animations are way longer than regular attacks, and the enemies are easy enough that a simple attack or two can finish the fights much faster.
They're fun to do when you get them, but after doing them a few times, I just ignore them tbh
Wood is stupid that’s why
Most of the stuff he complained about was nitpicky and ignorant of previous games in the franchise.
He continuously compared things to thousand year door instead of previous entries in M&L
Like the enemy count in the game, for example, is roughly the same as the enemy count in previous M&L games but he compared it TTYD for whatever reason.
@@MrMindCloud He's saying Paper mario is better

I think too many people think that a game's score automatically starts at a 10 by default, and then you can start deducting based on each nitpick, rather than giving a score based on the overall quality, i.e. excellent, good, average, poor, etc.
Sorry, an HD-2D artstyle for a Mario game would NOT fit at all. Though I may be biased because I’m not wild about that artstyle in the first place.
I think Brothership’s artstyle is great. It really fits the Mario and Luigi series.
I mean, Dream Team was basically that.

But there was a button for Luigi in those games, so in those kinds of puzzles, you still had to time Mario and Luigi together
@therandomguy2212 I do agree that compared to other Mario & Luigi series, this Luigi do seem to be more useful, but I'm just disappointed that Luigi's Logic system is just you pressing a button for him to "solve" the 'puzzle'

Just because a game is deemed bad doesn't mean you still can't enjoy it! If it makes you happy while playing go for it!
I'll agree that this game could've been an amazing jewel if the developers were given free reign to do their ideas.

A bold story with more heavy themes than what I would expect out of a Mario and Luigi game, a unique and innovative battle system, cinematic cutscenes, moments of comedy, an art style that evolves from past games and a fun overall gameplay loop.

you really have no idea what you’re talking about
The whole reason why I love the original Mario RPG games is from the story.
Nah sticker star was actually good.
@@KaiJie-n8q You think Stickerstar is good but not Brothership. Even Logan Plant agrees Stickerstar is the worst Mario RPG. I played it and I couldn’t get myself to keep playing because even Brothership has a reason for you to keep playing
@@theshumsshowforfun2.051 I did not say brothership is bad it is better than sticker star.
@@KaiJie-n8qstick star was straight up trash.
They’re**
I’m crawling at 12 hours in, aware that it’s supposed to pick up, but gosh, imagining myself doing this for 38 more hours… like is it worth it
yes 🤑
I'd argue that it wasn't the lack of innovation that killed alpha dream, but rather their decision to put all of their ressources into releasing games for a already dead system.
Plus, they made a remake of a game that you could already play on a 3DS
It’s a rare point where I must disagree with you on this.
every mario game gets hyped up no matter the quality.
Thought I was the only one thinking this,I wish Nintendo would just go 3rd party
That isn't exclusive to Mario. Zelda and Pokemon are also treated this way
Mario and Luigi brothership is LEAGUES better than paper jam. The 5/10 is ridiculous. I think the game deserves an 8
I had a good time with Mario and Luigi Brothership.
Its for the year
1-2 switch wasn't bad though. It's lack of support is what caused it to suck.
The characters are definitely interesting and unique in Brothership. Sure some of the concept art was cool, but the characters aren't one of the issues with the game imo.
@Sparx632 i strongly agree the bosses and the characters are very different from any mario i ever played
@@OGlezoking ???
The IGN review wasn’t clowned on for the score, it was clowned on because they tweeted it out about 5 times a day for interactions
Honestly I enjoyed this game. If you’ve played every other Mario and Luigi I suggest playing this one too
Is it me or did this review piss anyone off.
Bc he has some good points but he just keeps sh*ting on the game
yep not a very professional review. Like its cool you dont like it thats fine but to insult the intelligence of those that do or maybe dont find the faults you had it with to be that big of detriment is crazy work.
Just you man
After your xenoblade 2 non review i cant take you seriously
The saddest part is they probably won’t try again with this series and actually put love and care into it…
Can we please stop with the whole "how did they score the game this high? They must be wrong!" thing?
I mean, unless it's like something really obvious, like the game literally not working or running at 10fps and having a 9/10 across the board, it's literally different opinions
I hated the beginning of Brothership but after it finally got going I actually ended up enjoying it much more than I thought.
@jowysw yeah he will think they are being too soft because it's Nintendo but they do the same crap with Sony first party titles for the most part
@gamingcrusade3842 I just said I liked the game
Not a fan of the game myself but this guys analysis is just terrible tbh.
8:00 I ain’t gonna lie what does this even mean. What’s wrong with the box art
Everything would have made more since then
I don't really know what you mean. A M&L Coop game sounds incredibly fun though
I'm a big fan of M&L games, but this game was extremely slow. It feels like a very generic rpg with very generic npcs, they just put mario and luigi there, it's not even in the mario universe.
Yeah….because you’re in a different universe with plug shaped people-
Brothership is a good game. I don’t know what game y’all was playing.
I agree. I guess people forget the Mario and Luigi games are fantastic unlike Paper Mario nowadays
Yup i agree! a 5 is not a bad score just mid! So i dont know what people are complaining about!
Yeah I think everyone is saying it’s good, just 5/10 good 😂
its because of how ign tosses 7 and 8 and 9s like candy on halloween
I’m playing it a second time because of how good it was… I love it so much I’m kinda obsessed…
Dream teams writing is atrocious, the gameplay is mediocre, it relied too much on the 3D and it's just a 10 hour game stretched to the max
I think it's always weird when somebody says, ,,the only real problem,, and then lists completely subjective opinions. Like, no hate, I just think it's funny
@ylondes9927lost take
I sense a new friendship/partnership growing in this video! Let’s get Logan on the podcast!
A Brothership perhaps
Whining about people enjoying the game doesn't make you look good.
i seriously don't get how one can get so angry about other people having fun
This is a crazy hit piece ignores basically all the good. It’s a 7/10, 7/10 means the game is good 7/10 is nowhere near worst game of the year.
Not a hit piece, it's a review. He explained why it's mid, not bad, but mid. That means there's good and bad. I'd give it a 6 at best.
Well no. Its a 5, not a 0
Maybe not worst game of the year but it just looks so bland and boring. 40 hours of bright colors with no substance
@@tannible_lector "Bland" and "bright colours" don't really go together.
@@jarretticeearthguard8614let's say you get to eat the most delicious meal. For the first time and some after it will be perfect. But what if that's all you get to eat? Then it gets bland really fast.
FF9 dialogue and characters are super charming and memorable. ❤
But I love Mario & Luigi: Brothership! It was Acquire's first attempt at the series and there has been lots of great moments. I think it's a ton of nostalgia Blinding here with Superstar Saga.
"Mario and Luigi Brothership is riddled with performance issues, It suffers from insanely slow pacing, a forgettable story with non-memorable characters"
You just described Tears of the Kingdom to a tee
Good description for both games
In my opinion its a great game with fun characters pretty good bosses and good combat
I feel you. To me if a game doesn’t have me actively wanting to continue then it’s just a bad game.
I love having Logan on. Super cool!
I Love Brothership… To each there own i guess
Fanboy
Usually I am on board with your takes but not this one. I just bought Brothership last week, I'm 15 hours in and I am loving it. There are some frustrating aspects to platforming but nothing game breaking. A solid 7.5.
Brothership ended up being my favorite game of last year. The battle system was amazing and I LOVE the art style and animations. I'd say a lot of people will look back on it more fondly 🤓
It’s a shame as this might be the nail in the coffin for the series, I am planning on picking it up still soon.
Brothership is good mario luigi game.
Wood sitting on a greenscreen and using his basement as a background is hilarious to me. A cherry on top would be if the placement of the greenscreen is exactly where the background picture was taken since that where everything is set up for recording.
You seriously need a script writer/editor. The amount of contradictions and weirdly vague formulated criticism is honestly very staggering
for example?
You got an actual IGN reporter that does their job and is honest? Logan was a delight to have on the video!
rushing through a game only to be disappointed that the game takes a different direction than the previous games is not what i would call "doing their job"
😂the fact that he lied about enemy types in an 18 year old game to make a point.
If you think that's bad, just wait for Princess Peach Showtime 🤣
I think Mario Odyssey is a 10
After Mario Odyssey, I kinda stopped having that same love for Mario like I use to.
The ending was so bad that I stopped right after what I thought would be the final boss I just couldn't. I'll never go back it's so bad.
But I see people who played masterpieces like Dragon Quest XI claim SV are wonderful lol
How can you like something completely mediocre at best when you have literally seen one of the best games in this genre? Idk, maybe these people are on drugs while they play Pokémon.
@@RuuyG im looking to get dq11, is it called echoes of something?
@lutr0_679yes Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
Really recommend it, but keep in mind that you will need patience, it's an extremely large RPG, the beginning is high quality but slow, lots of traveling and boss battles.
But it is probably the best classic style RPG, and it is very classic, keep that in mind, don't expect anything super modern in the combat system or storytelling, it's just the best version of the very classic JRPG formula, with amazing modern graphics.
@RuuyG ill buy it tn and check it out🙌🏻
@@RuuyGSV Has serious issues for sure and is probably one of the worst on the console because of the issues with the fps and graphics and so on so forth, but I think it’s unfair to completely deny anything good that it has because of those issues. I definitely wish they’d just get help from other studios to properly optimize and wish they had done that for SV though.
so its another paper mario situation where nintendo refused to let the devs take risks and so they had to play it so safe it killed the game
