    I'm headed down to Wheeler lake for a week over memorial day weekend. Driving down from Michigan for a 1st time visit to try my luck. Looks like a BLAST fellas, can't wait!!

      They should be getting right at that time Chad!! If you can’t find any on wheeler come on down to the Rockpile recreation area and fish below wilson dam on Pickwick. I’m going to go check and see if anything is below the dams in the next weekend or so. Good luck to you! Reach out if you have any questions.

      @@NorthAlabamaAdventures love watching your videos, I was wanting to bring my 15 yo up to try this in mid June and was wondering is that a good time and if the bait fish will be running any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

      @@StanMulvihill thank you for the kind words and the views! I went this morning and can report a hot bite from 5:30 to 7:00 or so then it slowed down. No saltwater stripe yet but I caught several 4-5 lb hybrids today that put up a nice fight! Brought home a mess to fry up. Mid June aughta be real nice! I think it can only get better. Sometime between now and then we usually get a few days where they start feeding on top at first light and it almost looks like the river is boiling! I’m excited already!! Good luck and tight lines! If y’all see me out there give me a shout!

      Awesome info thanks a lot! I will stay in touch with you on here and try to wait to come when we know the saltwaters are running good even if it means waiting a bit longer to come. Another question if you don’t mind answering. I keep up with the generator levels what does it need to be around as far as the level they are generating?

    I was at the Wilson tail race very early in the morning on June 13th was that you that was fishing with top water in the early morning?

      Hey Britten! first of all thank you for watching my video! I wasn’t out there on Monday 6/13. My good friend over at North Alabama Fish and Waterfowl was likely out there though. Very early has been the key here lately as we’ve been catching most between 5:00 and 7:00 am. I’ve got some content from this past Sunday to edit if I can find the time. Got a few good hookups. My boss and I went out this morning 6/23 before work and caught a few between 5 and 6. His son is up here fishing in the high school world championships. Boat traffic was crazy. How did you do on that Monday? Hey I just watched your short and subbed. That was a tankasaurus you pulled out of the pond!

      @@NorthAlabamaAdventures why do you use mono over braid?

    • @NorthAlabamaAdventures
      @NorthAlabamaAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Britten.. I have several reels spooled with braid and several with mono. On my braid reels i use either 20 lb or 50 lb mono for leader. Sometimes I get it in my head that the fish can see the braid. The ones spooled with mono I generally use for lighter bass fishing as well and more finesse style fishing.
      All of my saltwater gear that I use on the coast is 30lb power pro super slick. I love the distance I get on casts with braid.
      In the end I think it’s just a matter of personal opinion on what you like better and what feels better to you.
      What are your thoughts?

    • @FishingwithBritten
      @FishingwithBritten 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NorthAlabamaAdventures so last time I went there I was only catching hybrids on straight braid but as soon as I switched to mono the Saltys started destroying it, it was on the same top water and everything.

    how is the salty bite in September? thinking about going Labor Day weekend

    • @NorthAlabamaAdventures
      @NorthAlabamaAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has slowed down from July even this month. I’m still picking up 2-4 salts in the morning. This will be the first year I get to fish a little in September (got my own boat) my friends teal hunt. I will try to come back and update this. Regardless of Salt bite the smallies and largemouth should still be munching. A variety of fluke or googan dart color combinations will be a good idea. Trying to key on what color they are wanting that particular day will be the ticket!

    • @NorthAlabamaAdventures
      @NorthAlabamaAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Went yesterday morning and didn’t pick up a single salt. TVA pushed a lot of water this weekend. I think it might have scattered them.
