Layle by Mail has a wonderful tutorial for making chunky notebooks from falling apart. Traveller's notebooks are her specialty.

I love this memory keeping set up. And I definitely loved the set up of your first book. I think it’s ok that you aren’t memory keeping weekly. I scrapbook but not weekly. I do the special events or a page with various picture from different days.

LOVE mixed media and the layers you used look fabulous. I look forward to seeing more as you do more of this method! I have been homebound for a long time, now that the children and grandchildren have moved to different cities for work my memory planning looks VERY different. There are no pictures, receipts or ephemera, so my memory keeping is journaling, but I still decorate it.

I think that it is awesome that your memory keeping has adapted to how life has changed. It's important not to hold too tightly to one method if it no longer meets your needs.

I think I have one of those 49 & Market covers, and I need to get it out and start creating. I adore what you’ve started here. Your first layout is so pretty. I can see this journal bringing you such joy. I can’t wait to see where it takes you.

Love the idea of each notebook being a collection! That way each book is cohesive. I have traveller’s notebook covers that I am not currently using for planner inserts and I love this idea to use them!

I may not have enough discipline to keep each journal separate 😂

This is awesome. I switched to a big happy notes this year. Basically the same reasons you have. So I’m not restricted to the days but can memory keep whenever I want whatever I want 😊

Great idea! I am not a fan of the weekly memory keeping. It seems to be more of a chore. Highlights of the special moments is what scrapbooking is about. 😀

I am going to continue with the happy planner method you taught-since I just ordered my 2024 book and a hip kit subscription! I need a little more of a framework than you do, I think. I don’t think of myself as a very naturally creative person so I find the method helpful. I understand your need to do something else, though! I switch out my journaling system for similar reasons and have landed this year in a Hobonichi Cousin. Your page was beautiful!

I think it would be awesome if you do a whole album with one kit. I know I would love it because I struggle with things matching so I don’t do anything lol

Ah man I’m super gutted you won’t be doing the happy planner memory keeping, but love all your creative journaling videos anyway like the faith ones etc so it’s always inspiring. It’s funny as seems you’ve kind of gone full circle back into your original scrapbook style of documenting? With the mixed media, starting with totally blank pages and highlighting just a few pics instead of several. I think HP themselves have recognised that ppl can’t keep up the weekly memory keeping hence their line of more scrapbook style memory keeping products last year.

    • @ScrappyWife

Yup, I do think we kind of go in cycles with our creativity for sure.

I think your kiddos would enjoy you continuing your weekly memory keeping. If you don’t have time to film and edit for us, I think you should still do an off camera/video of weekly memory keeping for them, your kiddos. I think they will cherish that more, than a sporadic junk journal. I don’t mean this in a mean way. I have a special needs kiddo (30 years old) that keeps me busy. He gets out into the community with his group of friends everyday. I document at least one pic a day of the things we do. He loves to look at my memory keeping album for him. At least ask your kids if they would like you to keep your weekly memory keeping album. Maybe print the pics and let them decorate and document if you don’t have time to do it. I’m just soooo passionate about my scrapbooking that I hope you continue the weekly memory keeping for them. Just my honest opinion. Let me know what your kiddos say about keeping a weekly spread for them.

No, my creative time is for me, even when I am filming it. So, I am not going to let my kids choose. Truthfully, when I do the weekly spreads, that really breaks into about 4 albums a year. 4 albums a year over 18 years would be waaaaaay too many albums for my kiddos to hold onto anyway. They do like looking at memory keeping, and I think they'll enjoy seeing this new system as well.
