Giuseppe Martucci - Piano Quintet in C-major, Op.45 (1878)

Giuseppe Martucci (Capua, 6 January 1856 - Naples, 1 June 1909) was an Italian composer, conductor, pianist and teacher. As a composer and teacher he was influential in reviving Italian interest in non-operatic music. As a conductor he helped to introduce Wagner's operas to Italy and also gave important early concerts of English music there.

olieverf op doek, h 101,5cm × b 138,5cm. Voogd werd de ‘Hollandse Claude’ genoemd, naar de Franse schilder Claude Lorrain, die beroemd was om zijn historische landschappen, badend in gouden licht. Voogd schilderde de tuinen van de Villa Borghese in Rome laat in de middag: de zon werpt lange schaduwen en de bomen steken scherp af tegen de lucht. Wandelaars genieten van de prachtige zonsondergang. Op de voorgrond zit een kunstenaar tegen een boom te tekenen.
